Then I saw an angel come down from heaven with the key of the Abyss in his hand and an enormouschain.1 And I saw an Angel, descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the abyss and a great chain.
He overpowered the dragon, that primeval serpent which is the devil and Satan, and chained him upfor a thousand years.2 And he apprehended the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and he bound him for a thousand years.
He hurled him into the Abyss and shut the entrance and sealed it over him, to make sure he would notlead the nations astray again until the thousand years had passed. At the end of that time he must be released, but only for a short while.3 And he cast him into the abyss, and he closed and sealed it, so that he would no longer seduce the nations, until the thousand years are completed. And after these things, he must be released for a brief time.
Then I saw thrones, where they took their seats, and on them was conferred the power to givejudgement. I saw the souls of al who had been beheaded for having witnessed for Jesus and for havingpreached God's word, and those who refused to worship the beast or his statue and would not accept the brand-mark on their foreheads or hands; they came to life, and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.4 And I saw thrones. And they sat upon them. And judgment was given to them. And the souls of those beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the Word of God, and who did not adore the beast, nor his image, nor accept his character on their foreheads or on their hands: they lived and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were over; this is the firstresurrection.5 The rest of the dead did not live, until the thousand years are completed. This is the First Resurrection.
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection; the second death has no power overthem but they wil be priests of God and of Christ and reign with him for a thousand years.6 Blessed and holy is he who takes part in the First Resurrection. Over these the second death has no power. But they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him for a thousand years.
When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison7 And when the thousand years will have been completed, Satan shall be released from his prison, and he will go out and seduce the nations which are upon the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog. And he will gather them together for battle, those whose number is like the sand of the sea.
and wil come out to lead astray all the nations in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, andmobilise them for war, his armies being as many as the sands of the sea.8 And they climbed across the breadth of the earth, and they encompassed the camp of the Saints and the Beloved City.
They came swarming over the entire country and besieged the camp of the saints, which is thebeloved City. But fire rained down on them from heaven and consumed them.9 And fire from God descended from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who seduced them, was cast into the pool of fire and sulphur,
Then the devil, who led them astray, was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast andthe false prophet are, and their torture wil not come to an end, day or night, for ever and ever.10 where both the beast and the false prophetess shall be tortured, day and night, forever and ever.
Then I saw a great white throne and the One who was sitting on it. In his presence, earth and skyvanished, leaving no trace.11 And I saw a great white throne, and One sitting upon it, from whose sight earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them.
I saw the dead, great and smal alike, standing in front of his throne while the books lay open. Andanother book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged from what was written in thebooks, as their deeds deserved.12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing in view of the throne. And books were opened. And another Book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by those things that had been written in the books, according to their works.
The sea gave up all the dead who were in it;13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it. And death and Hell gave up their dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
Death and Hades were emptied of the dead that were in them; and every one was judged as hisdeeds deserved. Then Death and Hades were hurled into the burning lake. This burning lake is the seconddeath;14 And Hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death.
and anybody whose name could not be found written in the book of life was hurled into the burninglake.15 And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the pool of fire.
