1 After this, I saw another angel come down from heaven, with great authority given to him; the earthshone with his glory.	1 E dopo di ciò vidi un altro Angelo, che scendeva dal cielo, e aveva potestà grande: e la terra fu illuminata dal suo splendore.
2 At the top of his voice he shouted, 'Babylon has fal en, Babylon the Great has fallen, and has becomethe haunt of devils and a lodging for every foul spirit and dirty, loathsome bird.	2 E gridò forte, dicendo: è caduta, è caduta la gran Babilonia: ed è diventata abitazione de' demoni, e carcere di tutti li spiriti impuri, e carcere di tutti i volatili immondi, e odiosi:
3 Al the nations have drunk deep of the wine of her prostitution; every king on the earth has prostitutedhimself with her, and every merchant grown rich through her debauchery.'	3 Perché del vino della fornicazione di lei, (vino) d'ira bevvero tutte le genti: e i re della terra prevaricarono con essa: e i mercadanti della terra si sono arricchiti dell'abbondanza delle sue delizie.
4 Another voice spoke from heaven; I heard it say, 'Come out, my people, away from her, so that you donot share in her crimes and have the same plagues to bear.	4 E udii altra voce dal cielo, che diceva: uscite da lei, popolo mio, per non essere partecipi de' suoi peccati, né percossi dalle sue piaghe:
5 Her sins have reached up to the sky, and God has her crimes in mind: treat her as she has treatedothers.	5 Imperocché i peccati di lei sono arrivati sino al cielo, e si è ricordato il Signore delle sue iniquità.
6 She must be paid double the amount she exacted. She is to have a doubly strong cup of her ownmixture.	6 Rendete a lei secondo quello, che essa ha renduto a voi: e duplicate l'indoppio secondo le opere di lei: mescetele il doppio nel bicchiere, in cui ha dato da bere.
7 Every one of her pomps and orgies is to be matched by a torture or an agony. I am enthroned asqueen, she thinks; I am no widow and wil never know bereavement.	7 Quanto si innalzò, e visse nelle delizie, tanto datele di tormento, e di lutto: perché in cuor suo dice: siedo regina, e non sono vedova: né saprò, che sia pianto.
8 For that, in one day, the plagues wil fal on her: disease and mourning and famine. She wil be burnedto the ground. The Lord God who has condemned her is mighty.'	8 Per questo in un sol giorno verranno le piaghe di lei, la morte, il lutto, e la fame, e sarà arsa col fuoco: perché forte è Dio, il quale la ha giudicata.
9 'There will be mourning and weeping for her by the kings of the earth who have prostituted themselveswith her and held orgies with her. They see the smoke as she burns,	9 E piangeranno, e meneran duolo per lei i re della terra, i quali con essa fornicarono, e visser nelle delizie, allorché vedranno il fumo del suo incendio:
10 while they keep at a safe distance through fear of her anguish. They wil say: Mourn, mourn for thisgreat city, Babylon, so powerful a city, in one short hour your doom has come upon you.	10 Stando da lungi per tema de' suoi tormenti, dicendo: ahi, ahi, quella città grande Babilonia, quella città forte: in un attimo è venuto il tuo giudizio.
11 'There wil be weeping and distress over her among al the traders of the earth when no one is left tobuy their cargoes of goods;	11 E i mercadanti della terra piagneranno, e gemeranno sopra di lei, perché nissuno compererà più le loro merci:
12 their stocks of gold and silver, jewels and pearls, linen and purple and silks and scarlet; al thesandalwood, every piece in ivory or fine wood, in bronze or iron or marble;	12 Le merci d'oro, e d'argento, e le pietre preziose, e le perle, e il bisso, e la porpora, e la seta, e il cocco, e tutti i legni di tino, e tutti i vasi d'avorio, e tutti i vasi di pietra preziosa, e di bronzo, e di ferro, e di marmo,
13 the cinnamon and spices, the myrrh and ointment and incense; wine, oil, flour and corn; their stocksof cattle, sheep, horses and chariots, their slaves and their human cargo.	13 E il cinnamomo, e gli odori, e l'unguento, e l'incenso, e il vino, e l'olio, e la similagine, e il grano, e i giumenti, e le pecore, e i cavalli, e i cocchi, e i servi, e le anime degli uomini:
14 'Al the fruits you had set your hearts on have failed you; gone for ever, never to return again, is yourlife of magnificence and ease.	14 E i frutti tanto cari all'anima tua se ne sono iti da te, e tutto il grasso, e tutto lo splendido è perito per te, né più lo ritroveranno.
15 'The traders who had made a fortune out of her wil be standing at a safe distance through fear of heranguish, mourning and weeping.	15 E quei, che di tali cose faceano negozio, e sono stati da essa arricchiti, e ne staranno alla lontana per tema de' suoi tormenti, piangendo, e gemendo,
16 They wil be saying: Mourn, mourn for this great city; for al the linen and purple and scarlet that youwore, for al your finery of gold and jewels and pearls;	16 E diranno: ahi, ahi,la città grande, che era vestita di bisso, e di porpora, e di cocco, ed era coperta d'oro, e di pietre preziose, e di perle:
17 your huge riches are al destroyed within a single hour.' Al the captains and seafaring men, sailorsand all those who make a living from the sea kept a safe distance,	17 Come in un attimo sono state ridotte al nulla tante ricchezze. E tutti i piloti, e tutti quei, che navigano pel lago, e i nocchieri, e quanti trafficano sul mare, se ne stettero alla lontana,
18 watching the smoke as she burned, and crying out, 'Has there ever been a city as great as this!'	18 E gridarono, guardando il luogo del suo incendio, dicendo: qual vi fu mai città come questa grande?
19 They threw dust on their heads and said, with tears and groans: 'Mourn, mourn for this great citywhose lavish living has made a fortune for every owner of a sea-going ship, ruined within a single hour.	19 E si gittaron sul capo la polvere, e gridaron piagnendo, e gemendo: ahi, ahi, la città grande, delle ricchezze di cui si fecer ricchi quanti avevano navi sul mare: in un attimo è stata ridotta a nulla.
20 'Now heaven, celebrate her downfall, and all you saints, apostles and prophets: God has givenjudgement for you against her.'	20 Cielo, esulta sopra di lei, e voi, santi Apostoli, e profeti: perché ha Dio pronunzato sentenza per voi contro di essa.
21 Then a powerful angel picked up a boulder like a great mil stone, and as he hurled it into the sea, hesaid, 'That is how the great city of Babylon is going to be hurled down, never to be seen again.	21 Allora un Angelo robusto alzò una pietra, come una grossa macine, e la scagliò nel mare, dicendo: con quest'impeto sarà scagliata Babilonia la gran città, e disparirà.
22 Never again in you will be heard the song of harpists and minstrels, the music of flute and trumpet;never again wil craftsmen of every skill be found in you or the sound of the handmil be heard;	22 Né più adirassi in te la voce de suonatori di cetra, e de' musici, e da' trombettieri: né ritroverassi più in te alcun' artefice di qualunque arte: e non si udirà più in te romor di mulino:
23 never again wil shine the light of the lamp in you, never again wil be heard in you the voices ofbridegroom and bride. Your traders were the princes of the earth, al the nations were led astray by your sorcery.	23 Né lume di lucerna rilucerà più in te: né voce di sposo, e di sposa si udirà più in te: perché i tuoi mercanti erano i magnati della terra, perché a causa de' tuoi veneficj furon sedotte tutte le nazioni.
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all the blood that was ever shed on earth.'	24 E si è trovato in lei il sangue de' profeti, e de' santi, e di tutti quegli, che sono stati scannati sulla terra.
