Revelation 18

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 After this, I saw another angel come down from heaven, with great authority given to him; the earthshone with his glory.	1 Después de esto vi bajar del cielo a otro Angel, que tenía gran poder, y la tierra quedó iluminada con su resplandor.
2 At the top of his voice he shouted, 'Babylon has fal en, Babylon the Great has fallen, and has becomethe haunt of devils and a lodging for every foul spirit and dirty, loathsome bird.	2 Gritó con potente voz diciendo: «¡Cayó, cayó la Gran Babilonia! Se ha conviertido en morada de demonios, en guarida de toda clase de espíritus inmundos, en guarida de toda clase de aves inmundas y detestables.
3 Al the nations have drunk deep of the wine of her prostitution; every king on the earth has prostitutedhimself with her, and every merchant grown rich through her debauchery.'	3 Porque del vino de sus prostituciones han bebido todas las naciones, y los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra se han enriquecido con su lujo desenfrenado».
4 Another voice spoke from heaven; I heard it say, 'Come out, my people, away from her, so that you donot share in her crimes and have the same plagues to bear.	4 Luego oí otra voz que decía desde el cielo: «Salid de ella, pueblo mío, no sea que os hagáis cómplices de sus pecados y os alcancen sus plagas.
5 Her sins have reached up to the sky, and God has her crimes in mind: treat her as she has treatedothers.	5 Porque sus pecados se han amontonado hasta el cielo y Dios se ha acordado de sus iniquidades.
6 She must be paid double the amount she exacted. She is to have a doubly strong cup of her ownmixture.	6 Dadle como ella ha dado, dobladle la medida conforme a sus obras, en la copa que ella preparó preparadle el doble.
7 Every one of her pomps and orgies is to be matched by a torture or an agony. I am enthroned asqueen, she thinks; I am no widow and wil never know bereavement.	7 En proporción a su jactancia y a su lujo, dadle tormentos y llantos. Pues dice en su corazón: Estoy sentada como reina, y no soy viuda y no he de conocer el llanto...
8 For that, in one day, the plagues wil fal on her: disease and mourning and famine. She wil be burnedto the ground. The Lord God who has condemned her is mighty.'	8 Por eso, en un solo día llegarán sus plagas: peste, llanto y hambre, y será consumida por el fuego. Porque poderoso es el Señor Dios que la ha condenado».
9 'There will be mourning and weeping for her by the kings of the earth who have prostituted themselveswith her and held orgies with her. They see the smoke as she burns,	9 Llorarán, harán duelo por ella los reyes de la tierra, los que con ella fornicaron y se dieron al lujo, cuando vean la humareda de sus llamas;
10 while they keep at a safe distance through fear of her anguish. They wil say: Mourn, mourn for thisgreat city, Babylon, so powerful a city, in one short hour your doom has come upon you.	10 se quedarán a distancia horrorizados ante su suplicio, y dirán: «¡Ay, ay, la Gran Ciudad! ¡Babilonia, ciudad poderosa, que en una hora ha llegado tu juicio!»
11 'There wil be weeping and distress over her among al the traders of the earth when no one is left tobuy their cargoes of goods;	11 Lloran y se lamentan por ella los mercaderes de la tierra, porque nadie compra ya sus cargamentos:
12 their stocks of gold and silver, jewels and pearls, linen and purple and silks and scarlet; al thesandalwood, every piece in ivory or fine wood, in bronze or iron or marble;	12 cargamentos de oro y plata, piedras preciosas y perlas, lino y púrpura, seda y escarlata, toda clase de maderas olorosas y toda clase de objetos de marfil, toda clase de objetos de madera preciosa, de bronce, de hierro y de mármol;
13 the cinnamon and spices, the myrrh and ointment and incense; wine, oil, flour and corn; their stocksof cattle, sheep, horses and chariots, their slaves and their human cargo.	13 cinamomo, amomo, perfumes, mirra, incienso, vino, aceite, harina, trigo, bestias de carga, ovejas, caballos y carros; esclavos y mercancía humana.
14 'Al the fruits you had set your hearts on have failed you; gone for ever, never to return again, is yourlife of magnificence and ease.	14 Y los frutos en sazón que codiciaba tu alma, se han alejado de ti; y toda magnificencia y esplendor se han terminado para ti, y nunca jamás aparecerán.
15 'The traders who had made a fortune out of her wil be standing at a safe distance through fear of heranguish, mourning and weeping.	15 Los mercaderes de estas cosas, los que a costa de ella se habían enriquecido, se quedarán a distancia horrorizados ante su suplicio, llorando y lamentándose:
16 They wil be saying: Mourn, mourn for this great city; for al the linen and purple and scarlet that youwore, for al your finery of gold and jewels and pearls;	16 «¡Ay, ay, la Gran Ciudad, vestida de lino, púrpura y escarlata, resplandeciente de oro, piedras preciosas y perlas,
17 your huge riches are al destroyed within a single hour.' Al the captains and seafaring men, sailorsand all those who make a living from the sea kept a safe distance,	17 que en una hora ha sido arruinada tanta riqueza!» Todos los capitanes, oficiales de barco y los marineros, y cuantos se ocupan en trabajos del mar, se quedaron a distancia
18 watching the smoke as she burned, and crying out, 'Has there ever been a city as great as this!'	18 y gritaban al ver la humareda de sus llamas: «¿Quién como la Gran Ciudad?»
19 They threw dust on their heads and said, with tears and groans: 'Mourn, mourn for this great citywhose lavish living has made a fortune for every owner of a sea-going ship, ruined within a single hour.	19 Y echando polvo sobre sus cabezas, gritaban llorando y lamentándose: «¡Ay, ay, la Gran Ciudad, con cuya opulencia se enriquecieron cuantos tenían las naves en el mar; que en una hora ha sido asolada!»
20 'Now heaven, celebrate her downfall, and all you saints, apostles and prophets: God has givenjudgement for you against her.'	20 Alégrate por ella, cielo, y vosotros, los santos, los apóstoles y los profetas, porque al condenarla a ella, Dios ha juzgado vuestra causa.
21 Then a powerful angel picked up a boulder like a great mil stone, and as he hurled it into the sea, hesaid, 'That is how the great city of Babylon is going to be hurled down, never to be seen again.	21 Un Angel poderoso alzó entonces una piedra, como una gran rueda de molino, y la arrojó al mar diciendo: «Así, de golpe, será arrojada Babilonia, la Gran Ciudad, y no aparecerá ya más..».
22 Never again in you will be heard the song of harpists and minstrels, the music of flute and trumpet;never again wil craftsmen of every skill be found in you or the sound of the handmil be heard;	22 Y la música de los citaristas y cantores, de los flautistas y trompetas, no se oirá más en ti; artífice de arte alguna no se hallará más en ti; la voz de la rueda de molino no se oirá más en ti;
23 never again wil shine the light of the lamp in you, never again wil be heard in you the voices ofbridegroom and bride. Your traders were the princes of the earth, al the nations were led astray by your sorcery.	23 La luz de la lámpara no lucirá más en ti; la voz del novio y de la novia no se oirá más en ti. Porque tus mercaderes eran los magnates de la tierra, porque con tus hechicerías se extravíanron todas las naciones;
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all the blood that was ever shed on earth.'	24 y en ella fue hallada la sangre de los profetas y de los santos y de todos los degollados de la tierra.
