Revelation 18

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After this, I saw another angel come down from heaven, with great authority given to him; the earthshone with his glory.	1 Después vi que otro Angel descendía del cielo con gran poder, mientras la tierra se iluminaba con su resplandor.
2 At the top of his voice he shouted, 'Babylon has fal en, Babylon the Great has fallen, and has becomethe haunt of devils and a lodging for every foul spirit and dirty, loathsome bird.	2 Y gritó con voz potente: «¡Ha caído, ha caído Babilonia, la grande! Se ha convertido en refugio de demonios, en guarida de toda clase de espíritus impuros y en nido de aves impuras y repugnantes.
3 Al the nations have drunk deep of the wine of her prostitution; every king on the earth has prostitutedhimself with her, and every merchant grown rich through her debauchery.'	3 Porque todos los pueblos han bebido el vino embriagante de su prostitución, los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella y los comerciantes del mundo se han enriquecido con su lujo desenfrenado».
4 Another voice spoke from heaven; I heard it say, 'Come out, my people, away from her, so that you donot share in her crimes and have the same plagues to bear.	4 En seguida oí otra voz que venía del cielo y decía: «Ustedes, que son mi pueblo, huyan de esa ciudad, para no hacerse cómplices de sus pecados ni ser castigados con sus plagas.
5 Her sins have reached up to the sky, and God has her crimes in mind: treat her as she has treatedothers.	5 Porque sus pecados se han amontonado hasta el cielo y Dios se ha acordado de sus iniquidades.
6 She must be paid double the amount she exacted. She is to have a doubly strong cup of her ownmixture.	6 Páguenle con su propia moneda, retribúyanle el doble de lo que ha hecho, sírvanle una porción doble en la copa de sus brebajes.
7 Every one of her pomps and orgies is to be matched by a torture or an agony. I am enthroned asqueen, she thinks; I am no widow and wil never know bereavement.	7 Provóquenle tormentos y dolor en la medida de su fastuosidad y de su lujo. Porque ella se jacta, diciendo: Estoy sentada como una reina, no soy viuda y jamás conoceré el duelo.
8 For that, in one day, the plagues wil fal on her: disease and mourning and famine. She wil be burnedto the ground. The Lord God who has condemned her is mighty.'	8 Por eso, en un solo día, caerán sobre ella las plagas que merece: peste, llanto y hambre. Y será consumida por el fuego, porque el Señor Dios que la ha condenado es poderoso».
9 'There will be mourning and weeping for her by the kings of the earth who have prostituted themselveswith her and held orgies with her. They see the smoke as she burns,	9 Los reyes de la tierra, que fornicaron con ella y compartieron su vida lujosa, al ver la humareda del incendio, llorarán y se lamentarán por ella,
10 while they keep at a safe distance through fear of her anguish. They wil say: Mourn, mourn for thisgreat city, Babylon, so powerful a city, in one short hour your doom has come upon you.	10 manteniéndose a distancia ante el horror de sus tormentos: «¡Ay, ay! ¡La gran Ciudad, Babilonia, la ciudad poderosa! Bastó una hora para que recibieras tu castigo».
11 'There wil be weeping and distress over her among al the traders of the earth when no one is left tobuy their cargoes of goods;	11 También los comerciantes de la tierra lloran y están de duelo por ella, porque ya nadie les compra sus mercancías:
12 their stocks of gold and silver, jewels and pearls, linen and purple and silks and scarlet; al thesandalwood, every piece in ivory or fine wood, in bronze or iron or marble;	12 objetos de oro y de plata; piedras preciosas, perlas, telas de lino y de púrpura, de seda y de escarlata; maderas aromáticas; objetos de marfil, de maderas finas, de bronce, de hierro y de mármol;
13 the cinnamon and spices, the myrrh and ointment and incense; wine, oil, flour and corn; their stocksof cattle, sheep, horses and chariots, their slaves and their human cargo.	13 canela, ungüento perfumado, perfumes, mirra e incienso; vino, aceite, harina y trigo; animales de carga, ovejas, caballos y carros; esclavos y seres humanos...
14 'Al the fruits you had set your hearts on have failed you; gone for ever, never to return again, is yourlife of magnificence and ease.	14 «Ya no verás más los frutos que tanto deseabas: has perdido esos productos delicados y espléndidos, y nunca más se los encontrará».
15 'The traders who had made a fortune out of her wil be standing at a safe distance through fear of heranguish, mourning and weeping.	15 Los que traficaban con esos productos y se habían enriquecido a costa de ella, se mantendrán a distancia ante el horror de sus tormentos, llorando y lamentándose»:
16 They wil be saying: Mourn, mourn for this great city; for al the linen and purple and scarlet that youwore, for al your finery of gold and jewels and pearls;	16 «¡Ay, ay! ¡La gran Ciudad! Estaba vestida de lino fino, de púrpura y de escarlata, resplandeciente de oro, de piedras preciosas y de perlas.
17 your huge riches are al destroyed within a single hour.' Al the captains and seafaring men, sailorsand all those who make a living from the sea kept a safe distance,	17 ¡Y en una hora fue arrasada tanta riqueza!». Los capitanes, los que navegan por las costas, los marinos y todos los que viven del mar, se mantuvieron a distancia,
18 watching the smoke as she burned, and crying out, 'Has there ever been a city as great as this!'	18 y contemplando la humareda del incendio, exclamaban: «¡Ninguna ciudad se podía comparar a la gran Ciudad!».
19 They threw dust on their heads and said, with tears and groans: 'Mourn, mourn for this great citywhose lavish living has made a fortune for every owner of a sea-going ship, ruined within a single hour.	19 Y echándose tierra sobre su cabeza, llorando y lamentándose, decían: «¡Ay, ay! ¡La gran ciudad! Con su opulencia se enriquecieron todos los que poseían barcos en el mar. ¡Y en una hora ha sido arrasada!».
20 'Now heaven, celebrate her downfall, and all you saints, apostles and prophets: God has givenjudgement for you against her.'	20 «Que se alegre el cielo a causa de su ruina, y alégrense ustedes, los santos, los apóstoles y los profetas, porque al condenarla, Dios les ha hecho justicia».
21 Then a powerful angel picked up a boulder like a great mil stone, and as he hurled it into the sea, hesaid, 'That is how the great city of Babylon is going to be hurled down, never to be seen again.	21 Y un Angel poderoso tomó una piedra del tamaño de una rueda de molino y la arrojó al mar, diciendo: «Así, de golpe, será arrojada Babilonia, la gran Ciudad, y nunca más se la verá».
22 Never again in you will be heard the song of harpists and minstrels, the music of flute and trumpet;never again wil craftsmen of every skill be found in you or the sound of the handmil be heard;	22 Ya no se escuchará dentro de ti el canto de los que tocan el arpa y de los músicos, de los flautistas y de los trompetistas; ya no se encontrarán artesanos de los diversos oficios, ni se escuchará el sonido de la rueda del molino.
23 never again wil shine the light of the lamp in you, never again wil be heard in you the voices ofbridegroom and bride. Your traders were the princes of the earth, al the nations were led astray by your sorcery.	23 No volverá a brillar la luz de la lámpara, ni tampoco se escuchará la voz de los recién casados. Porque tus comerciantes eran los grandes de la tierra, y con tus encantos sedujiste a todos los pueblos.
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all the blood that was ever shed on earth.'	24 En ella fue derramada la sangre de los profetas y de los santos, y de todos aquellos que han sido inmolados en la tierra.
