1 Remind them to be obedient to the officials in authority; to be ready to do good at every opportunity;	1 הַזְכֵּר אֹתָם לְהִכָּנֵעַ וְלִשְׁמֹעַ לַשָּׂרִים וְלַשִּׁלְטוֹנִים וְלִהְיוֹת נְכוֹנִים לְכָל־מַעֲשֶׂה טוֹב
2 not to go slandering other people but to be peaceable and gentle, and always polite to people of al kinds.	2 וּלְבִלְתִּי גַדֵּף אָדָם וְלַחֲדֹל מֵרִיב וּלְהַכְרִיעַ לְכַף זְכוּת וּלְהִתְנַהֵג בְּכָל־עֲנָוָה לִפְנֵי כָּל־אָדָם
3 There was a time when we too were ignorant, disobedient and misled and enslaved by different passionsand dissipations; we lived then in wickedness and malice, hating each other and hateful ourselves.	3 כִּי גַם־אֲנַחְנוּ הָיִינוּ מִלְּפָנִים חַסְרֵי דַעַת וְסוֹרְרִים וְתוֹעִים וַעֲבָדִים לְתַאֲוֺת וְלִתְשׁוּקוֹת שֹׁנוֹת וּמִתְהַלְּכִים בְּרִשְׁעָה וְקִנְאָה וּשְׂנוּאִים וְשׂנְאִים אִישׁ אֶת־אָחִיו
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour for humanity were revealed,	4 אָמְנָם כַּאֲשֶׁר נִגְלָה נֹעַם אֱלֹהִים מוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ וְרַחֲמָנוּתוֹ אֶל־הָאָדָם
5 it was not because of any upright actions we had done ourselves; it was for no reason except his ownfaithful love that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and renewal in the Holy Spirit	5 אָז לֹא בִגְלַל מַעֲשֵׂי הַצְּדָקָה אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂינוּ הוֹשִׁיעַ אֹתָנוּ כִּי אִם־מִתּוֹךְ חַסְדּוֹ עַל־יְדֵי טְבִילַת הַתּוֹלָדָה הַשְּׁנִיָּה וְחִדּוּשׁ רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ
6 which he has so generously poured over us through Jesus Christ our Saviour;	6 אֲשֶׁר שָׁפַךְ עָלֵינוּ לְמַכְבִּיר עַל־יְדֵי יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ מוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ
7 so that, justified by his grace, we should become heirs in hope of eternal life.	7 לְמַעַן נִצְדַּק בְּחַסְדּוֹ וְנִירַשׁ לְפִי הַתִּקְוָה אֶת־חַיֵּי הָעוֹלָמִים
8 This is doctrine that you can rely on. I want you to be quite uncompromising in teaching all this, so thatthose who now believe in God may keep their minds constantly occupied in doing good works. Al this is good,and useful for everybody.	8 נֶאֱמָן הוּא הַדָּבָר וְרֹצֶה אֲנִי כִּי תְקַיֵּם אֶת־אֵלֶּה לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁתַּדְּלוּ הַמַּאֲמִינִים לֵאלֹהִים לַעֲסֹק בְּמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים עֲשׂוֹת כָּאֵלֶּה טוֹב הוּא וּמוֹעִיל לָאָדָם
9 But avoid foolish speculations, and those genealogies, and the quibbles and disputes about the Law --they are useless and futile.	9 אֲבָל תִּרְחַק מִן־הַשְּׁאֵלוֹת הַתְּפֵלוֹת וּמִלִּמּוּדֵי תוֹלָדוֹת וּמִן־הַקְּטָטוֹת וּמַחֲלֹקוֹת בְּעִנְיְנֵי הַחֻקִּים כִּי־אֵין בָּהֶן מוֹעִיל וְהֶבֶל הֵנָּה
10 If someone disputes what you teach, then after a first and a second warning, have no more to do withhim:	10 וְאִישׁ הַחוֹלֵק עַל־הָאֱמוּנָה אִם־הוּכַח פַּעַם וּשְׁתָּיִם שְׂטֵה מֵעָלָיו
11 you wil know that anyone of that sort is warped and is self-condemned as a sinner.	11 וְדַע כִּי־אִישׁ כָּזֶה אִישׁ תַּהְפֻּכוֹת הוּא וְחוֹטֵא בְּהַרְשִׁיעַ אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ
12 As soon as I have sent Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to join me at Nicopolis, where I havedecided to spend the winter.	12 כַּאֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁלַח אֵלֶיךָ אֶת־אַרְטְמָס אוֹ אֶת־טוּכִיקוֹס תְּמַהֵר לָבוֹא אֵלַי לְנִיקָפֹּלִיס כִּי־גָמַרְתִּי בְלִבִּי לָשֶׁבֶת שָׁם בִּימֵי הַסְּתָיו
13 Help eagerly on their way Zenas the lawyer and Apollos, and make sure they have everything theyneed.	13 הִשְׁתַּדֵּל לְלַוֹּת עַל־דַּרְכָּם אֶת־זֵינָס הַמְלֻמָּד בַּתּוֹרָה וְאֶת־אַפּוֹלוֹס לְמַעַן לֹא־יַחְסְרוּ דָבָר
14 Al our people must also learn to occupy themselves in doing good works for their practical needs, andnot to be unproductive.	14 וְיִלְמְדוּ גַּם־אַנְשֵׁי עֲדָתֵנוּ לַעֲסֹק בְּמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים לַעֲזֹר בְּכָל־מַחְסוֹר פֶּן־יִהְיוּ בְּלִי־פֶרִי
15 Al those who are with me send their greetings. Greetings to those who love us in the faith. Grace bewith you all.	15 כֹּל אֲשֶׁר עִמָּדִי שֹׁאֲלִים לִשְׁלוֹמֶךָ שְׁאַל לִשְׁלוֹם הָאֹהֲבִים אֹתָנוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָה הַחֶסֶד עִם־כֻּלְּכֶם אָמֵן
