NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Remind them to be obedient to the officials in authority; to be ready to do good at every opportunity;	1 Ricorda loro di essere sottomessi ai magistrati e alle autorità, di obbedire, di essere pronti per ogni opera buona,
2 not to go slandering other people but to be peaceable and gentle, and always polite to people of al kinds.	2 di non sparlare di nessuno, di non essere litigiosi ma arrendevoli, dimostrando piena comprensione verso tutti gli uomini.
3 There was a time when we too were ignorant, disobedient and misled and enslaved by different passionsand dissipations; we lived then in wickedness and malice, hating each other and hateful ourselves.	3 Anche noi, infatti, siamo stati un tempo insensati, ribelli, fuorviati, asserviti a concupiscenze e voluttà d'ogni genere, vivendo immersi nella malizia e nell'invidia, abominevoli, odiandoci a vicenda.
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour for humanity were revealed,	4 Quando però apparve la benignità del Salvatore nostro Dio e il suo amore per gli uomini,
5 it was not because of any upright actions we had done ourselves; it was for no reason except his ownfaithful love that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and renewal in the Holy Spirit	5 egli ci salvò non in virtù di opere che avessimo fatto nella giustizia, ma secondo la sua misericordia, mediante un lavacro di rigenerazione e di rinnovamento nello Spirito Santo,
6 which he has so generously poured over us through Jesus Christ our Saviour;	6 che egli effuse sopra di noi in abbondanza per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, nostro Salvatore,
7 so that, justified by his grace, we should become heirs in hope of eternal life.	7 affinché, giustificati per mezzo della sua grazia, diventassimo eredi della vita eterna secondo la speranza.
8 This is doctrine that you can rely on. I want you to be quite uncompromising in teaching all this, so thatthose who now believe in God may keep their minds constantly occupied in doing good works. Al this is good,and useful for everybody.	8 Queste parole sono degne di fede, e io voglio che tu sia ben fermo riguardo a tali cose, affinché quelli che hanno creduto in Dio si diano premura di eccellere nelle opere buone. Tali cose, infatti, sono buone e utili agli uomini.
9 But avoid foolish speculations, and those genealogies, and the quibbles and disputes about the Law --they are useless and futile.	9 Procura, invece, di evitare sciocche investigazioni, genealogie, risse e polemiche riguardo alla legge, perché sono cose inutili e vane.
10 If someone disputes what you teach, then after a first and a second warning, have no more to do withhim:	10 Dopo un primo e un secondo ammonimento evita l'uomo eretico,
11 you wil know that anyone of that sort is warped and is self-condemned as a sinner.	11 sapendo che un tale individuo è ormai pervertito e continuerà a peccare condannandosi da se medesimo.
12 As soon as I have sent Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to join me at Nicopolis, where I havedecided to spend the winter.	12 Quando ti avrò mandato Artema o Tichico, affrettati a raggiungermi a Nicopoli, perché lì ho deciso di passare l'inverno.
13 Help eagerly on their way Zenas the lawyer and Apollos, and make sure they have everything theyneed.	13 Provvedi diligentemente di tutto l'occorrente per il viaggio Zena, il giureconsulto, e Apollo, affinché non manchi loro nulla.
14 Al our people must also learn to occupy themselves in doing good works for their practical needs, andnot to be unproductive.	14 Anche i nostri devono imparare a eccellere nelle opere buone, per essere di aiuto nelle necessità, affinché non rimangano infruttuosi.
15 Al those who are with me send their greetings. Greetings to those who love us in the faith. Grace bewith you all.	15 Ti salutano tutti coloro che sono con me. Saluta quelli che ci amano nella fede. La grazia sia con tutti voi.
