NEW JERUSALEMKING JAMES BIBLE
Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in thename of his appearing and of his kingdom:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, giveencouragement -- but do all with patience and with care to instruct.2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
The time is sure to come when people wil not accept sound teaching, but their ears wil be itching foranything new and they wil col ect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes;3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
and then they will shut their ears to the truth and wil turn to myths.4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But you must keep steady al the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfilthe service asked of you.5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to depart.6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith;7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
al there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, wil give tome on that Day; and not only to me but to al those who have longed for his appearing.8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Make every effort to come and see me as soon as you can.9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
As it is, Demas has deserted me for love of this life and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens has gone toGalatia and Titus to Dalmatia;10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you; I find him a useful helper in my work.11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, and the scrol s, especially the parchmentones.13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
Alexander the coppersmith has done me a lot of harm; the Lord wil repay him as his deeds deserve.14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
Be on your guard against him yourself, because he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say.15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
The first time I had to present my defence, no one came into court to support me. Every one of themdeserted me -- may they not be held accountable for it.16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be ful yproclaimed for al the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth.17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Tohim be glory for ever and ever. Amen.18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Greetings to Prisca and Aquila, and the family of Onesiphorus.19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
Erastus stayed behind at Corinth, and I left Trophimus il at Miletus.20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
Make every effort to come before the winter. Greetings to you from Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudiaand all the brothers.21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
