2 Timothy 4

1 Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in thename of his appearing and of his kingdom:	1 Je te demande au nom de Dieu et du Christ Jésus qui doit venir juger les vivants et les morts - car il va se manifester et il régnera. Je te le demande:
2 proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, giveencouragement -- but do all with patience and with care to instruct.	2 proclame la Parole, insiste à temps et à contre-temps, cherche des arguments, ordonne et encourage, toujours avec patience et pédagogie.
3 The time is sure to come when people wil not accept sound teaching, but their ears wil be itching foranything new and they wil col ect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes;	3 Un temps viendra où les gens ne voudront plus de la saine doctrine; alors ils se trouveront des maîtres à leur goût qui sauront comment chatouiller leurs oreilles.
4 and then they will shut their ears to the truth and wil turn to myths.	4 Ils fermeront leurs oreilles à la vérité et s’intéresseront à des fables.
5 But you must keep steady al the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfilthe service asked of you.	5 Il te faut donc rester toujours en alerte. Ne ménage pas ta peine, fais ton travail d’évangéliste, remplis ton service.
6 As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to depart.	6 Pour moi, je suis déjà près de la fin et le moment de mon départ approche.
7 I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith;	7 J’ai fait un bon match, j’ai couru jusqu’au bout, j’ai gardé le dépôt qu’on m’avait confié.
8 al there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, wil give tome on that Day; and not only to me but to al those who have longed for his appearing.	8 Maintenant j’attends la couronne de toute vie sainte que le Seigneur me donnera, lui le juste Juge, quand viendra son jour, et pas seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous les amis de sa venue glorieuse.
9 Make every effort to come and see me as soon as you can.	9 Fais tout pour me rejoindre au plus tôt.
10 As it is, Demas has deserted me for love of this life and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens has gone toGalatia and Titus to Dalmatia;	10 Démas aimait ce monde, et il m’a laissé; il est rentré à Thessalonique. Crescens est parti en Galatie et Tite en Dalmatie.
11 only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you; I find him a useful helper in my work.	11 Seul Luc est avec moi. Prends Marc au passage car il me sera bien utile pour le ministère.
12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.	12 J’ai envoyé Tychique à Éphèse.
13 When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, and the scrol s, especially the parchmentones.	13 Quand tu viendras, apporte-moi le manteau que j’ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, et aussi les livres, surtout les parchemins.
14 Alexander the coppersmith has done me a lot of harm; the Lord wil repay him as his deeds deserve.	14 Alexandre, le forgeron, m’a fait beaucoup de mal: Le Seigneur lui donnera ce que méritent ses œuvres.
15 Be on your guard against him yourself, because he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say.	15 Mais méfie-toi de lui car il contredit fortement ce que nous disons.
16 The first time I had to present my defence, no one came into court to support me. Every one of themdeserted me -- may they not be held accountable for it.	16 La première fois que j’ai présenté ma défense, personne n’était avec moi, tous m’ont abandonné; que le Seigneur leur pardonne.
17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be ful yproclaimed for al the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth.	17 Mais le Seigneur était avec moi, et il m’a donné la force pour que le message soit proclamé grâce à moi et que tous les païens en aient connaissance. Et j’ai été sauvé de la gueule du lion.
18 The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Tohim be glory for ever and ever. Amen.	18 Le Seigneur me délivrera de tout mal et me sauvera, m’envoyant à son royaume du Ciel. À lui seul la gloire pour les siècles des siècles! Amen.
19 Greetings to Prisca and Aquila, and the family of Onesiphorus.	19 Salue Prisca et Aquilas et la famille d’Onésiphore.
20 Erastus stayed behind at Corinth, and I left Trophimus il at Miletus.	20 Éraste est resté à Corinthe, et j’ai laissé Trophime à Milet car il était malade.
21 Make every effort to come before the winter. Greetings to you from Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudiaand all the brothers.	21 Dépêche-toi de venir avant l’hiver. Je t’envoie le salut d’Euboule et Pudens, de Linus, de Claudia et de tous les frères.
