1 Timothy 6

1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 Tutti quelli che sono sotto il giogo della schiavitù stimino degni d'ogni onore i loro padroni affinchè il nome e la dottrina del Signore non siano bestemmiati.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 E quelli che hanno dei padroni credenti non li disprezzino, col pretesto che son fratelli; ma tanto meglio li servano, appunto perchè sono fedeli e diletti, essendo partecipi del medesimo benefìzio. Cosi insegna ed esorta.
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 Se qualcuno insegna diversamente e non s'attiene alle sane parole del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e alla dottrina che è conforme alla pietà,
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 egli è un superbo che non sa nulla, ha il malanno delle questioni e delle logomachie, dalle quali nascono invidie, contese, maldicenze cattivi sospetti,
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 controversie di uomini corrotti di mente e privati della verità, i quali consideran la pietà come fonte di guadagni.
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 E' davvéro una gran fonte di guadagno la pietà contenta del necessario.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Giacché nulla abbiamo portato in questo mondo e senza dubbio non possiamo portar via nulla.
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 E quindi avendo gli alimenti e di che coprirci, contentiamoci.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Infatti quelli che vogliono arricchire, cadono nella tentazione e nel laccio del diavolo, e in molti desideri inutili e nocivi che sommergono gli uomini nella morte e nella perdizione;
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 perchè radice di tutti i mali è la cupidigia, abbandonandosi alla quale alcuni han deviato dalla fede e sono incappati in molti guai.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 Ma tu, o uomo di Dio, fuggi queste cose; segui invece la giustizia, la pietà, la fede, la carità, la pazienza, la mansuetudine;
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 combatti la buona battaglia della fede, conquista la vita eterna, per la quale sei stato chiamato ed hai fatta quella bella professione di fede dinanzi a molti testimoni.
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Ti ordino, dinanzi a Dio che a tutto dà vita, e a Cristo Gesù che sotto Ponzio Pilato rese testimonianza con quella bella professione,
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 di osservare questi precetti, immacolato e irreprensibile fino alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 che sarà manifestata a suo tempo dal beato ed unico e potente Re dei re e Signore dei signori,
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 l'unico che possiede l'immortalità e alita una luce inaccessibile, e che nessuno degli uomini vide nè può vedere, al quale onore e impero sempiterno. Cosi sia.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 Ai ricchi di questo secolo raccomanda di non essere alteri d'animo e di non porre la speranza nelle instabili ricchezze, ma in Dio vivo, che ci dà in abbondanza ogni cosa, perchè ne godiamo,
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 di fare del bene, di diventare ricchi di buone opere, d'esser facili a dare e a far parte dei loro beni,
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 in modo da accumularsi un bel tesoro per l'avvenire o così conquistare la vita eterna.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 O Timoteo, custodisci il deposito, evitando le profane novità di parole e le contraddizioni di una falsa scienza,
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 per far pompa della quale alcuni hanno abbandonata la fede. La grazia sia con te. Così sia.
