1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 Tutti coloro, che sono sotto al giogo di servitù, stimino meritevoli di ogni onore i loro padroni, affinchè il nome, e la dottrina del Signore non sia bestemmiata.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 Quelli poi, che hanno padroni fedeli non li disprezzino, perché sono fratelli: ma piuttosto servano loro, perché sono fedeli, e diletti, che hanno parte a tal benefizio. Così insegna, ed esorta.
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 Se alcuno insegna diversamente, e non si acquieta alle sane parole del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, e alla dottrina, che è conforme alla pietà:
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 Egli è un superbo, che non sa nulla, ma si ammala per dispute, e quistioni di parole: dalle quali nascono invidie, contese, maldicenze, cattivi sospetti,
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 Conflitti di uomini corrotti nell'animo, i quali sono stati privati della verità, i quali si pensano, che la pietà sia un'arte per guadagnare.
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 Or ella è un gran capitale la pietà con il contentarsi di poco.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Imperocché nulla abbiam portato in questo mondo: e non vi ha dubbio, che nulla ne possiam portar via.
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 Ma avendo gli alimenti, e di che coprirci, contentiamoci di questo.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Imperocché quelli, che vogliono arricchire, incappano nella tentazione, e nel laccio del diavolo, e in molti inutili, e nocivi desideri, i quali sommergono gli uomini nella morte, e nella perdizione.
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 Imperocché radice di tutti i mali è la cupidigia: per amor della quale alcuni hanno deviato dalla fede, e si sono trafitti con molti dolori.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 Ma tu, uomo di Dio, fuggi di queste cose: ma udienti alla giustizia, alla pietà, alla fede, alla carità, alla pazienza, alla mansuetudine.
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 Combatti nel buon certame della fede, rapisci la vita eterna, per la quale sei stato chiamato, ed hai professata una buona professione dinanzi a molti testimoni.
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Ti ordino dinanzi a Dio, che di vita a tutte le cose, e a Gesù Cristo, il quale sotto Ponzio Pilato rendette testimonianza alla buona professione:
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 Che tu osservi questo comando immacolato, irreprensibile sino alla venuta del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo:
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 La quale farà apparire a suo tempo il beato, e il solo potente, il re de regi, e Signore de' dominanti:
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 Il quale solo ha l'immortalità, ed abita in una luce inaccssibile: il quale ne è stato, né può esser veduto da alcun uomo: a cui onore, ed impero sempiterno. Così sia.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 I ricchi di questo secolo ammoniscili, che non abbiano spiriti altieri, nè confidino nella incertezza delle ricchezze, ma in Dio vivo (il quale ci da copiosamente ogni cosa, perché ne godiamo)
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 Che facciano del bene, diventino ricchi di buone opere, correnti nel dare, umani nel convivere,
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 Mettendo da parte per se stessi un buon fondamento per l'avvenire, per fare acquisto della vera vita.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 O Timoteo, custodisci il deposito, avendo in avversione le profane novità delle parole, e le contraddizioni di quella scienza di falso nome,
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 Della quale alcuni facendo pompa, hanno deviato dalla fede. La grazia con teco. Così sia.
