1 Timothy 6

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 Todos os que vivem sob o jugo da servidão considerem seus senhores dignos de toda honra, para que não sejam caluniados o nome de Deus e sua doutrina.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 E os que têm patrões que abraçaram a fé, nem por isto os menosprezem, sob pretexto de serem irmãos. Ao contrário, deverão servi-los ainda melhor, pelo fato de que eles são fiéis amados de Deus e participantes de seus benefícios. Tal deve ser o tema de teus ensinamentos e de tuas exortações.
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 Quem ensina de outra forma e discorda das salutares palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, bem como da doutrina conforme à piedade,
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 é um obcecado pelo orgulho, um ignorante, doentio por questões ociosas e contendas de palavras. Daí se originam a inveja, a discórdia, os insultos, as suspeitas injustas,
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 os vãos conflitos entre homens de coração corrompido e privados da verdade, que só vêem na piedade uma fonte de lucro.
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 Sem dúvida, grande fonte de lucro é a piedade, porém quando acompanhada de espírito de desprendimento.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Porque nada trouxemos ao mundo, como tampouco nada poderemos levar.
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 Tendo alimento e vestuário, contentemo-nos com isto.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Aqueles que ambicionam tornar-se ricos caem nas armadilhas do demônio e em muitos desejos insensatos e nocivos, que precipitam os homens no abismo da ruína e da perdição.
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 Porque a raiz de todos os males é o amor ao dinheiro. Acossados pela cobiça, alguns se desviaram da fé e se enredaram em muitas aflições.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 Mas tu, ó homem de Deus, foge desses vícios e procura com todo empenho a piedade, a fé, a caridade, a paciência, a mansidão.
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 Combate o bom combate da fé. Conquista a vida eterna, para a qual foste chamado e fizeste aquela nobre profissão de fé perante muitas testemunhas.
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Em presença de Deus, que dá a vida a todas as coisas, e de Cristo Jesus, que ante Pôncio Pilatos abertamente testemunhou a verdade,
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 recomendo-te que guardes o mandamento sem mácula, irrepreensível, até a aparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 a qual a seu tempo será realizada pelo bem-aventurado e único Soberano, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores,
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 o único que possui a imortalidade e habita em luz inacessível, a quem nenhum homem viu, nem pode ver. A ele, honra e poder eterno! Amém.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 Exorta os ricos deste mundo a que não sejam orgulhosos nem ponham sua esperança nas riquezas volúveis, mas em Deus, que nos dá abundantemente todas as coisas para delas fruirmos.
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 Que pratiquem o bem, se enriqueçam de boas obras, sejam generosos, comunicativos,
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 ajuntem um tesouro sólido e excelente para seu futuro, a fim de conquistarem a verdadeira vida.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 Ó Timóteo, guarda o bem que te foi confiado! Evita as conversas frívolas e mundanas, assim como as contradições de pretensa ciência.
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 Alguns, por segui-las, se transviaram da fé. A graça esteja convosco.
