1 Timothy 6

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 TUTTI i servi che son sotto il giogo reputino i lor signori degni d’ogni onore, acciocchè non sia bestemmiato il nome di Dio, e la dottrina.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 E quelli che hanno signori fedeli non li sprezzino, perchè son fratelli; anzi molto più li servano, perciocchè son fedeli e diletti, i quali hanno ricevuto il beneficio. Insegna queste cose, ed esorta ad esse.
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 SE alcuno insegna diversa dottrina, e non si attiene alle sane parole del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, ed alla dottrina che è secondo pietà,
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 esso è gonfio, non sapendo nulla, ma languendo intorno a quistioni, e risse di parole, dalle quali nascono invidia, contenzione, maldicenze, mali sospetti;
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 vane disputazioni d’uomini corrotti della mente e privi della verità, che stimano la pietà esser guadagno; ritratti da tali
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 Or veramente la pietà, con contentamento d’animo, è gran guadagno.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Poichè non abbiam portato nulla nel mondo, e chiaro è che altresì non ne possiamo portar nulla fuori;
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 ma, avendo da nudrirci e da coprirci, saremo di ciò contenti.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Ma coloro che vogliono arricchire cadono in tentazione, ed in laccio, ed in molte concupiscenze insensate e nocive, le quali affondano gli uomini in distruzione e perdizione.
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 Perciocchè la radice di tutti i mali è l’avarizia; alla quale alcuni datisi, si sono smarriti dalla fede, e si son fitti in molte doglie.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 Ma tu, o uomo di Dio, fuggi queste cose; e procaccia giustizia, pietà, fede, carità, sofferenza, mansuetudine.
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 Combatti il buon combattimento della fede, afferra la vita eterna, alla quale sei stato chiamato e ne hai fatta la buona confessione davanti a molti testimoni
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Io t’ingiungo nel cospetto di Dio, il qual vivifica tutte le cose, e di Cristo Gesù, che testimoniò davanti a Ponzio Pilato la buona confessione,
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 che tu osservi questo comandamento, essendo immacolato ed irreprensibile, fino all’apparizione del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 La quale a’ suoi tempi mostrerà il beato e solo Principe, il Re dei re, e il Signor de’ signori.
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 Il qual solo ha immortalità ed abita una luce inaccessibile; il quale niun uomo ha veduto, nè può vedere; al quale sia onore ed imperio eterno. Amen.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 Dinunzia a’ ricchi nel presente secolo, che non sieno d’animo altiero, che non pongano la loro speranza nell’incertitudine delle ricchezze; ma nell’Iddio vivente, il qual ci porge doviziosamente ogni cosa, per goderne.
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 Che faccian del bene, che sien ricchi in buone opere, pronti a distribuire, comunichevoli;
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 facendosi un tesoro d’un buon fondamento per l’avvenire, acciocchè conseguano la vita eterna.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 O Timoteo, guarda il deposito, schivando le profane vanità di parole, e le contradizioni della falsamente nominata scienza;
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 della quale alcuni facendo professione, si sono sviati dalla fede. La grazia sia teco. Amen
