1 Timothy 6

1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 Akik járomba vannak fogva, a rabszolgák, tartsák urukat minden tiszteletre méltónak, hogy ne káromolja senki az Úr nevét és a tanítást.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 Akiknek hívő uruk van, ne vegyék őket kevésbé komolyan, azzal az ürüggyel, hogy testvérek, sőt, éppen azért szolgáljanak nekik jobban, mert hívők, a szeretet és a jótétemények részesei. Ezeket tanítsd, ezekre ints!
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 Aki másként tanít, s nem tartja magát a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus egészséges igéihez és az istenfélelemmel összhangban levő tanításhoz,
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 az önhitt, nem tud semmit, a szőrszálhasogatás és a szócséplés betege, ebből pedig irigykedés, veszekedés, káromlás, rosszakaratú gyanúsítás fakad,
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 a megbomlott elméjű, az igazságtól megfosztott, az istenfélelmet nyerészkedésnek tekintő emberek torzsalkodása.
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 Az istenfélelem természetesen nagy nyereség, ha megelégedés kíséri.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Mert semmit sem hoztunk magunkkal a világra, és el sem vihetünk semmit.
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 Ha tehát van ennivalónk és ruházatunk, elégedjünk meg azzal.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Mert akik gazdagok akarnak lenni, kísértésbe esnek, kelepcébe, sok haszontalan és káros kívánságba, amelyek pusztulásba és romlásba döntik az embert.
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 Minden bajnak gyökere ugyanis a kapzsiság: jó néhányan, akik hozzá szegődtek, eltévelyedtek a hittől, és sok gyötrelmet okoztak maguknak.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 De te, Isten embere, menekülj ezektől a dolgoktól: igazságosságra, vallásosságra, hitre, szeretetre, béketűrésre, szelídségre törekedj.
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 Harcold a hit jó harcát, szerezd meg az örök életet, amelyre meghívást kaptál, s amelyre számos tanú előtt letetted az igaz hitvallást.
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Megparancsolom neked Isten előtt, aki mindenkit éltet, és Krisztus Jézus előtt, aki Poncius Pilátus alatt tanúságot tett igaz hitvallással:
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 tartsd meg a parancsot szeplőtelenül, feddhetetlenül a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus eljöveteléig,
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 amelyet meg fog mutatni annak idején a boldog és egyetlen Hatalmasság, a királyok Királya, az urak Ura,
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 aki egyedül birtokolja a halhatatlanságot, aki megközelíthetetlen világosságban lakik, akit senki ember nem látott és nem láthat, akinek dicsőség és örök hatalom! Ámen!
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 E világ gazdagjainak hagyd meg, hogy ne legyenek fennhéjázók, ne bizakodjanak a csalóka gazdagságban, hanem az élő Istenben, aki bőségesen megad nekünk mindent, amire szükségünk van;
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 hogy legyenek jótékonyak, jócselekedetekben gazdagok, szívesen adakozzanak, osztogassanak,
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 és gyűjtsenek maguknak gazdag, jó alapot a jövendőre, hogy elnyerjék az igaz életet.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 Timóteus! Őrizd meg a rád bízott kincset, kerüld a profán, újdonsághajhászó fecsegést, az álságos »ismeret« ellenvetéseit,
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 amelyet némelyek elfogadtak, és a hittől elszakadtak. Kegyelem veletek!
