1 Timothy 6

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Al those under the yoke of slavery must have unqualified respect for their masters, so that the name ofGod and our teaching are not brought into disrepute.	1 Que los esclavos consideren a sus dueños dignos de todo respeto, para que el nombre de Dios y su doctrina no sean objeto de blasfemia.
2 Those whose masters are believers are not to respect them less because they are brothers; on thecontrary, they should serve them al the better, since those who have the benefit of their services are believersand dear to God. This is what you are to teach and urge.	2 Y si sus dueños son creyentes, que no los respeten menos por el hecho de ser hermanos. Al contrario, que pongan mayor empeño en servirlos, porque así benefician a hermanos queridos en la fe. Enseña todo esto, e insiste en ello.
3 Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of ourLord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion,	3 Si alguien enseña otra cosa y no se atiene a los preceptos saludables de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, ni a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad,
4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing aboutwords. Al that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;	4 es un ignorante y un orgulloso, ávido de discusiones y de vanas polémicas. De allí nacen la envidia, la discordia, los insultos, las sospechas malignas
5 and unending disputes by people who are depraved in mind and deprived of truth, and imagine thatreligion is a way of making a profit.	5 y los conflictos interminables, propios de hombres mentalmente corrompidos y apartados de la verdad, que pretenden hacer de la piedad una fuente de ganancias.
6 Religion, of course, does bring large profits, but only to those who are content with what they have.	6 Sí, es verdad que la piedad reporta grandes ganancias, pero solamente si va unida al desinterés.
7 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it;	7 Porque nada trajimos cuando vinimos al mundo, y al irnos, nada podremos llevar.
8 but as long as we have food and clothing, we shal be content with that.	8 Contentémonos con el alimento y el abrigo.
9 People who long to be rich are a prey to trial; they get trapped into all sorts of foolish and harmfulambitions which plunge people into ruin and destruction.	9 Los que desean ser ricos se exponen a la tentación, caen en la trampa de innumerables ambiciones, y cometen desatinos funestos que los precipitan a la ruina y a la perdición.
10 'The love of money is the root of all evils' and there are some who, pursuing it, have wandered awayfrom the faith and so given their souls any number of fatal wounds.	10 Porque la avaricia es la raíz de todos los males, y al dejarse llevar por ella, algunos perdieron la fe y se ocasionaron innumerables sufrimientos.
11 But, as someone dedicated to God, avoid al that. You must aim to be upright and religious, fil ed withfaith and love, perseverance and gentleness.	11 En lo que a ti concierne, hombre Dios, huye de todo esto. Practica la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la constancia, la bondad.
12 Fight the good fight of faith and win the eternal life to which you were cal ed and for which you madeyour noble profession of faith before many witnesses.	12 Pelea el buen combate de la fe, conquista la Vida eterna, a la que has sido llamado y en vista de la cual hiciste una magnífica profesión de fe, en presencia de numerosos testigos.
13 Now, before God, the source of all life, and before Jesus Christ, who witnessed to his noble professionof faith before Pontius Pilate, I charge you	13 Yo te ordeno delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y delante de Cristo Jesús, que dio buen testimonio ante Poncio Pilato:
14 to do al that you have been told, with no faults or failures, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,	14 observa lo que está prescrito, manteniéndote sin mancha e irreprensible hasta la Manifestación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
15 who at the due time wil be revealed by God, the blessed and only Ruler of al , the King of kings andthe Lord of lords,	15 Manifestación que hará aparecer a su debido tiempo el bienaventurado y único Soberano, el Rey de los reyes y Señor de los señores,
16 who alone is immortal, whose home is in inaccessible light, whom no human being has seen or is ableto see: to him be honour and everlasting power. Amen.	16 el único que posee la inmortalidad y habita en una luz inaccesible, a quien ningún hombre vio ni puede ver. ¡A él sea el honor y el poder para siempre! Amén.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set theirhopes not on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly al that we need for our happiness.	17 A los ricos de este mundo, recomiéndales que no sean orgullosos. Que no pongan su confianza en la inseguridad de las riquezas, sino en Dios, que nos provee de todas las cosas en abundancia a fin de que las disfrutemos.
18 They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share-	18 Que practiquen el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, que den con generosidad y sepan compartir sus riquezas.
19 this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only lifethat is real.	19 Así adquirirán para el futuro un tesoro que les permitirá alcanzar la verdadera Vida.
20 My dear Timothy, take great care of al that has been entrusted to you. Turn away from godlessphilosophical discussions and the contradictions of the 'knowledge' which is not knowledge at al ;	20 Querido Timoteo, conserva el bien que te ha sido confiado. Evita la impiedad de una vana palabrería y las objeciones de una pretendida ciencia,
21 by adopting this, some have missed the goal of faith. Grace be with you.	21 ya que por haberla profesado, algunos se han apartado de la fe. Que la gracia de Dios esté con ustedes.
