Philippians 2

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,	1 Se dunque c'è un appello pressante in Cristo, un incoraggiamento ispirato dall'amore, una comunione di spirito, un cuore compassionevole,
2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.	2 ricolmatemi di gioia andando d'accordo, praticando la stessa carità con unanimità d'intenti, nutrendo i medesimi sentimenti.
3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,	3 Non fate niente per ambizione né per vanagloria, ma con umiltà ritenete gli altri migliori di voi;
4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.	4 non mirando ciascuno ai propri interessi, ma anche a quelli degli altri.
5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:	5 Coltivate in voi questi sentimenti che furono anche in Cristo Gesù:
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.	6 il quale, essendo per natura Dio, non stimò un bene irrinunciabile l'essere uguale a Dio,
7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,	7 ma annichilì se stesso prendendo natura di servo, diventando simile agli uomini; e apparso in forma umana
8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.	8 si umiliò facendosi obbediente fino alla morte e alla morte in croce.
9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;	9 Per questo Dio lo ha sopraesaltato ed insignito di quel nome che è superiore a ogni nome,
10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus	10 affinché, nel nome di Gesù, si pieghi ogni ginocchio, degli esseri celesti, dei terrestri e dei sotterranei
11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 e ogni lingua proclami, che Gesù Cristo è Signore, a gloria di Dio Padre.
12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.	12 Così, o miei diletti, essendo stati sempre docili non solo quando ero presente, ma molto più ora che sono lontano da voi, con timore e tremore lavorate alla vostra salvezza.
13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.	13 E' Dio infatti colui che suscita tra voi il volere e l'agire in vista dei suoi amabili disegni.
14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining	14 Fate tutto senza mormorazioni e contestazioni,
15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,	15 affinché siate irreprensibili e illibati, figli di Dio immacolati in mezzo a una generazione tortuosa e sviata, in seno alla quale voi brillate come astri nell'universo,
16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.	16 tenendo alta la parola di vita. Così potrò vantarmi per il giorno di Cristo perché non ho corso né faticato invano.
17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-	17 Ma anche se il mio sangue venisse versato sul sacrificio e l'offerta della vostra fede, io gioisco e godo con tutti voi;
18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.	18 allo stesso modo gioite anche voi e godete insieme a me.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.	19 Spero intanto nel Signore Gesù di inviarvi ben presto Timoteo, affinché anch'io, informato sulla vostra situazione, possa essere di buon animo.
20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;	20 Non ho nessuno che abbia gli stessi suoi sentimenti, che realmente si preoccupi della vostra situazione.
21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.	21 Tutti infatti badano ai loro interessi e non a quelli di Cristo Gesù.
22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.	22 Voi conoscete la sua sperimentata virtù: come un figlio verso il padre, si è dedicato insieme a me al servizio del vangelo.
23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;	23 Spero d'inviare lui appena avrò visto la piega che prenderà la mia causa.
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.	24 Ho fiducia nel Signore di venire presto io stesso.
25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;	25 Ho ritenuto necessario per ora mandare da voi Epafrodito, mio fratello, collaboratore e compagno d'armi, vostro inviato e assistente nelle mie necessità,

27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.	27 Si ammalò infatti e poco mancò che morisse; ma Dio ebbe pietà di lui, e non solo di lui, ma anche di me; così non si accumularono le mie afflizioni.
28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.	28 Perciò ne ho anticipata la partenza, affinché, vedendolo, vi rallegriate di nuovo e io sia meno triste.
29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,	29 Accoglietelo dunque nel Signore con grande festa; onorate le persone come lui,
30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.	30 perché per l'opera di Cristo rischiò la morte, mettendo a repentaglio la sua vita per supplire al servizio che non potevate prestarmi voi.
