1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,	1 Se adunque alcuna consolazione in Cristo, se alcun conforto della carità, se alcuna comunione di spirito, se viscere di compassione:
2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.	2 Rendete compiuto il mio gaudio con essere concordi, con avere la stessa carità, una sola anima, uno stesso sentimento:
3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,	3 Nulla (fate) per picca, o per vanagloria; ma per umiltà l'uno creda l'altro a se superiore:
4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.	4 Ognuno faccia attenzione non a quello, che torni bene per lui, ma aquello, che torni bene per gli altri.
5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:	5 Si abbiano tra di voi gli stessi sentimenti, che (furono) in Cristo Gesù:
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.	6 Il quale essendo nella forma di Dio, non credette, che fosse una rapina quel suo essere uguale a Dio:
7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,	7 Ma annichilò se stesso presa la forma di servo, fatto simile agli uomini, e per condizione riconosciuto per uomo.
8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.	8 Umiliò se stesso fatto ubbidiente sino alla morte, e morte di croce.
9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;	9 Per la qual cosa Dio pur lo esaltò, e gli donò un nome sopra qualunque nome:
10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus	10 Onde nel nome di Gesù si pieghi ogni ginocchio in cielo, in terra, e nell'inferno;
11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 E ogni lingua confessi, che il Signore Gesù Cristo o nella gloria di Dio Padre.
12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.	12 Laonde dilettissimi miei, (siccome sempre siete stati ubbidienti) non solo, come quando io era presente, ma molto più adesso nella mia assenza, con timore, e tremore operate la vostra salute.
13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.	13 Imperocché Dio è, che opera in voi e il volere, e il fare secondo la buona volontà.
14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining	14 Tutto fate senza mormorazioni, e dispute:
15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,	15 Affinchè siate irreprensibili, e sinceri figliuoli di Dio, scevri di colpa in mezzo ad una nazione prava, e perversa: tra di cui risplendete, come lumininari del mondo,
16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.	16 Portanti la parola di vita per gloria mia nel giorno di Cristo, perché non ho corso in vano, e non ho lavorato in vano.
17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-	17 Ma e quando io sia offerto in libagione sopra il sagrifizio, e l'ostia della vostra fede, io ne godo, e me ne congratulo con tutti voi.
18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.	18 E voi di questo stesso godetene, e congratulatevene meco.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.	19 Spero nel Signore Gesù di mandare speditamente da voi Timoteo: affine che io pure stia di buon animo, informato che io sia delle cose vostre.
20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;	20 Imperocché non ho nessuno così unanime, che con sincera affezione si affanni per voi.
21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.	21 Imperocché tutti pensano alle cose loro, non a quelle di Gesù Cristo.
22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.	22 Or è a voi noto il saggio, che egli sia dato di se, mentre, come un figliuolo col padre, ha servito con me al vangelo.
23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;	23 Lui adunque spero di mandare da voi subito, che avrò veduto lo stato delle cose mie.
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.	24 Confido poi nel Signore, che verrò io pure speditamente da voi.
25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;	25 Ma ho creduto necessario di mandarvi Epafrodito fratello, e cooperatore, e della stessa milizia con me, e vostro Apostolo, ed il quale ha sovvenuto alle mie necessità:
26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .	26 Conciossiachè bramava ardentemente di riveder tutti voi: ed era afflitto, perché si fosse saputo da voi, come egli era stato malato.
27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.	27 Imperocché veramente è stato malato fino a morte: ma Dio ha avuto compassione di lui; né solamente di lui, ma anche di me, affinchè non avessi dolore sopra dolore.
28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.	28 Lo ho adunque mandato più speditamente affinchè vedutolo, di nuovo vi rallegriate, e io sia fuori di pena.
29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,	29 Accoglietelo adunque nel Signore con ogni allegrezza, e tenete in onore tali persone:
30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.	30 Conciossiachè per servigio di Cristo si è avvicinato sino alla morte, facendo getto della propria vita per supplire al difetto degli ufficj vostri verso di me.
