Philippians 2

NEW JERUSALEM	GREEK BIBLE
1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,	1 Εαν λοιπον υπαρχη τις παρηγορια εν Χριστω η τις παραμυθια αγαπης, η τις κοινωνια Πνευματος η σπλαγχνα τινα και οικτιρμοι,
2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.	2 καμετε πληρη την χαραν μου, να φρονητε το αυτο, εχοντες την αυτην αγαπην, οντες ομοψυχοι και ομοφρονες,
3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,	3 μη πραττοντες μηδεν εξ αντιζηλιας η κενοδοξιας, αλλ' εν ταπεινοφροσυνη θεωρουντες αλληλους υπερεχοντας εαυτων.
4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.	4 Μη αποβλεπετε εκαστος τα εαυτου, αλλ' εκαστος και τα των αλλων.
5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:	5 Το αυτο δε φρονημα εστω εν υμιν, το οποιον ητο και εν τω Χριστω Ιησου,
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.	6 οστις εν μορφη Θεου υπαρχων, δεν ενομισεν αρπαγην το να ηναι ισα με τον Θεον,
7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,	7 αλλ' εαυτον εκενωσε λαβων δουλου μορφην, γενομενος ομοιος με τους ανθρωπους,
8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.	8 και ευρεθεις κατα το σχημα ως ανθρωπος, εταπεινωσεν εαυτον γενομενος υπηκοος μεχρι θανατου, θανατου δε σταυρου.
9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;	9 Δια τουτο και ο Θεος υπερυψωσεν αυτον και εχαρισεν εις αυτον ονομα το υπερ παν ονομα,
10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus	10 δια να κλινη εις το ονομα του Ιησου παν γονυ επουρανιων και επιγειων και καταχθονιων,
11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 και πασα γλωσσα να ομολογηση οτι ο Ιησους Χριστος ειναι Κυριος εις δοξαν Θεου Πατρος.
12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.	12 Ωστε, αγαπητοι μου, καθως παντοτε υπηκουσατε, ουχι ως εν τη παρουσια μου μονον, αλλα τωρα πολυ περισσοτερον εν τη απουσια μου, μετα φοβου και τρομου εργαζεσθε την εαυτων σωτηριαν?
13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.	13 διοτι ο Θεος ειναι ο ενεργων εν υμιν και το θελειν και το ενεργειν κατα την ευδοκιαν αυτου.
14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining	14 Πραττετε τα παντα χωρις γογγυσμων και αμφισβητησεων,
15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,	15 δια να γινησθε αμεμπτοι και ακεραιοι, τεκνα Θεου αμωμητα εν μεσω γενεας σκολιας και διεστραμμενης, μεταξυ των οποιων λαμπετε ως φωστηρες εν τω κοσμω,
16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.	16 κρατουντες τον λογον της ζωης, δια καυχημα μου εν τη ημερα του Χριστου, οτι δεν ετρεξα εις ματην ουδε εις ματην εκοπιασα.
17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-	17 Αλλ' εαν και προσφερω εμαυτον σπονδην επι της θυσιας και λειτουργιας της πιστεως σας, χαιρω και συγχαιρω μετα παντων υμων?
18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.	18 ωσαυτως δε και σεις χαιρετε και συγχαιρετε μετ' εμου.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.	19 Ελπιζω δε επι τον Κυριον Ιησουν να πεμψω προς εσας ταχεως τον Τιμοθεον, δια να ευφραινωμαι και εγω μαθων την καταστασιν σας?
20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;	20 διοτι δεν εχω ουδενα ισοψυχον, οστις να μεριμνηση γνησιως περι της καταστασεως σας?
21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.	21 επειδη παντες ζητουσι τα εαυτων, ουχι τα του Ιησου Χριστου?
22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.	22 γνωριζετε δε την δοκιμασιαν αυτου, οτι ως τεκνον μετα του πατρος εδουλευσε μετ' εμου εις το ευαγγελιον.
23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;	23 Τουτον λοιπον ελπιζω να πεμψω ευθυς, καθως ιδω το τελος των υποθεσεων μου?
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.	24 πεποιθα δε επι τον Κυριον οτι και εγω θελω ελθει ταχεως.
25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;	25 Εστοχασθην ομως αναγκαιον να πεμψω προς εσας τον Επαφροδιτον τον αδελφον και συνεργον και συστρατιωτην μου, απεσταλμενον δε απο σας και υπηρετησαντα εις την χρειαν μου,
26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .	26 επειδη επεποθει ολους εσας και ελυπειτο, διοτι ηκουσατε οτι ησθενησε.
27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.	27 Και τωοντι ησθενησε μεχρι θανατου? αλλ' ο Θεος ηλεησεν αυτον, ουχι δε αυτον μονον, αλλα και εμε, δια να μη λαβω λυπην επι λυπην.
28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.	28 Οθεν επεμψα αυτον μετα περισσοτερας σπουδης, δια να χαρητε ιδοντες αυτον παλιν, και εγω να εχω ολιγωτεραν λυπην.
29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,	29 Δεχθητε λοιπον αυτον εν Κυριω μετα πασης χαρας και τιματε τους τοιουτους,
30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.	30 επειδη δια το εργον του Χριστου επλησιασε μεχρι θανατου, καταφρονησας την ζωην αυτου, δια να αναπληρωση την ελλειψιν υμων της εις εμε υπηρεσιας.
