Philippians 2

1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,	1 Se dunque c’è qualche consolazione in Cristo, se c’è qualche conforto, frutto della carità, se c’è qualche comunione di spirito, se ci sono sentimenti di amore e di compassione,
2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.	2 rendete piena la mia gioia con un medesimo sentire e con la stessa carità, rimanendo unanimi e concordi.
3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,	3 Non fate nulla per rivalità o vanagloria, ma ciascuno di voi, con tutta umiltà, consideri gli altri superiori a se stesso.
4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.	4 Ciascuno non cerchi l’interesse proprio, ma anche quello degli altri.
5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:	5 Abbiate in voi gli stessi sentimenti di Cristo Gesù:
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.	6 egli, pur essendo nella condizione di Dio, non ritenne un privilegio l’essere come Dio,
7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,	7 ma svuotò se stesso assumendo una condizione di servo, diventando simile agli uomini. Dall’aspetto riconosciuto come uomo,
8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.	8 umiliò se stesso facendosi obbediente fino alla morte e a una morte di croce.
9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;	9 Per questo Dio lo esaltò e gli donò il nome che è al di sopra di ogni nome,
10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus	10 perché nel nome di Gesù ogni ginocchio si pieghi nei cieli, sulla terra e sotto terra,
11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 e ogni lingua proclami: «Gesù Cristo è Signore!», a gloria di Dio Padre.
12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.	12 Quindi, miei cari, voi che siete stati sempre obbedienti, non solo quando ero presente ma molto più ora che sono lontano, dedicatevi alla vostra salvezza con rispetto e timore.
13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.	13 È Dio infatti che suscita in voi il volere e l’operare secondo il suo disegno d’amore.
14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining	14 Fate tutto senza mormorare e senza esitare,
15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,	15 per essere irreprensibili e puri, figli di Dio innocenti in mezzo a una generazione malvagia e perversa. In mezzo a loro voi risplendete come astri nel mondo,
16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.	16 tenendo salda la parola di vita. Così nel giorno di Cristo io potrò vantarmi di non aver corso invano, né invano aver faticato.
17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-	17 Ma, anche se io devo essere versato sul sacrificio e sull’offerta della vostra fede, sono contento e ne godo con tutti voi.
18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.	18 Allo stesso modo anche voi godetene e rallegratevi con me.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.	19 Spero nel Signore Gesù di mandarvi presto Timòteo, per essere anch’io confortato nel ricevere vostre notizie.
20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;	20 Infatti, non ho nessuno che condivida come lui i miei sentimenti e prenda sinceramente a cuore ciò che vi riguarda:
21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.	21 tutti in realtà cercano i propri interessi, non quelli di Gesù Cristo.
22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.	22 Voi conoscete la buona prova da lui data, poiché ha servito il Vangelo insieme con me, come un figlio con il padre.
23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;	23 Spero quindi di mandarvelo presto, appena avrò visto chiaro nella mia situazione.
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.	24 Ma ho la convinzione nel Signore che presto verrò anch’io di persona.
25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;	25 Ho creduto necessario mandarvi Epafrodìto, fratello mio, mio compagno di lavoro e di lotta e vostro inviato per aiutarmi nelle mie necessità.
26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .	26 Aveva grande desiderio di rivedere voi tutti e si preoccupava perché eravate a conoscenza della sua malattia.
27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.	27 È stato grave, infatti, e vicino alla morte. 28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.	28 Lo mando quindi con tanta premura, perché vi rallegriate al vederlo di nuovo e io non sia più preoccupato.
29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,	29 Accoglietelo dunque nel Signore con piena gioia e abbiate grande stima verso persone come lui,
30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.	30 perché ha sfiorato la morte per la causa di Cristo, rischiando la vita, per supplire a ciò che mancava al vostro servizio verso di me.
