John 14

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me.	1 אל יבהל לבבכם האמינו באלהים ובי האמינו
2 In my Father's house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going nowto prepare a place for you,	2 בבית אבי מעונות רבות ואם לא כן הוא כי עתה הגדתי לכם הנני הלך להכין מקום לכם
3 and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you maybe with me where I am.	3 והיה כי הלכתי והכינותי לכם מקום שוב אשוב ולקחתי אתכם אלי למען באשר אהיה שם תהיו גם אתם
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.	4 ואל אשר אני הולך שמה ידעתם ואת הדרך ידעתם
5 Thomas said, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?'	5 ויאמר אליו תומא אדני לא ידענו אנה אתה הלך ואיככה נדע את הדרך
6 Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.	6 ויאמר אליו ישוע אנכי הנני הדרך והאמת והחיים לא יבא איש אל האב כי אם על ידי
7 If you know me, you will know my Father too. From this moment you know him and have seen him.	7 לו ידעתם אתי גם את אבי ידעתם ומעתה ידעתם אתו וראיתם אתו
8 Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we shall be satisfied.' Jesus said to him,	8 ויאמר אליו פילפוס אדני הראנו נא את האב ודי לנו
9 'Have I been with you al this time, Philip, and you stil do not know me? 'Anyone who has seen me hasseen the Father, so how can you say, "Show us the Father"?	9 ויאמר אליו ישוע זה כמה ימים אנכי אתכם ואתה פילפוס הטרם תדעני הראה אתי ראה את האב ולמה זה תאמר הראנו את האב
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I say to you I do not speakof my own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his works.	10 האינך מאמין כי אנכי באבי ואבי בי הוא הדברים אשר אדבר אליכם לא מנפשי אנכי דבר כי אבי השכן בקרבי הוא עשה את המעשים
11 You must believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe iton the evidence of these works.	11 האמינו לי כי אנכי באבי ואבי בי הוא ואם לא אך בגלל המעשים האמינו לי
12 In all truth I tell you, whoever believes in me wil perform the same works as I do myself, and wilperform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.	12 אמן אמן אני אמר לכם המאמין בי יעשה גם הוא את המעשים אשר אנכי עשה וגדלות מאלה יעשה כי אני הולך אל אבי
13 Whatever you ask in my name I wil do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.	13 וכל אשר תשאלו בשמי אעשנו למען יכבד האב בבנו
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I wil do it.	14 כי תשאלו דבר בשמי אני אעשנו
15 If you love me you wil keep my commandments.	15 אם אהבתם אתי את מצותי תשמרו
16 I shall ask the Father, and he wil give you another Paraclete to be with you for ever,	16 ואני אשאלה מאבי והוא יתן לכם פרקליט אחר אשר ישכן אתכם לנצח
17 the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you knowhim, because he is with you, he is in you.	17 את רוח האמת אשר לא יכל העולם להשיגו באשר לא יראהו ולא ידעהו ואתם ידעתם אתו כי אתכם שכן הוא אף יהיה בתוככם
18 I shall not leave you orphans; I shall come to you.	18 לא אעזבכם יתומים אבואה אליכם
19 In a short time the world wil no longer see me; but you wil see that I live and you also wil live.	19 עוד מעט והעולם לא יוסיף לראות אתי ואתם תראוני כי חי אני וגם אתם חיה תחיו
20 On that day you wil know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you.	20 והיה ביום ההוא ידוע תדעו כי אני באבי ואתם בי ואני בכם
21 Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever lovesme will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him.'	21 מי אשר מצותי אתו וינצרן זה הוא אשר יאהבני ואהבי אהוב הוא לאבי ואני אהבהו ואליו אתודע
22 Judas -- not Judas Iscariot -- said to him, 'Lord, what has happened, that you intend to show yourselfto us and not to the world?'	22 ויאמר אליו יהודה לא יהודה איש קריות אדני מה הוא זה כי תחפץ להתודע אלינו ולא לעולם
23 Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me wil keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shalcome to him and make a home in him.	23 ויען ישוע ויאמר אליו איש כי יאהבני ישמר את דברי ואבי יאהב אתו ונבואה אליו ונשים אצלו מעונתנו
24 Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: itis the word of the Father who sent me.	24 ואשר לא יאהבני הוא לא ישמר את דברי והדבר אשר שמעתם לא שלי הוא כי אם של אבי אשר שלחני
25 I have said these things to you while still with you;	25 את אלה דברתי אליכם בעוד היותי עמכם
26 but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father wil send in my name, wil teach you everythingand remind you of al I have said to you.	26 והפרקליט תוח הקדש אשר ישלחנו אבי בשמי הוא ילמדכם את כל ויזכירכם את כל אשר הגדתי לכם
27 Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is mygift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.	27 שלום אניח לכם את שלומי אתן לכם לא כאשר יתן העולם אנכי נתן לכם אל יבהל לבבכם ואל יחת
28 You heard me say: I am going away and shal return. If you loved me you would be glad that I amgoing to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.	28 הלא שמעתם כי אמרתי אליכם אלך לי ואשובה אליכם אם אהב תאהבוני כי עתה תשמחו באמרי לכם כי הלך אני אל האב כי אבי גדול ממני
29 I have told you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.	29 ועתה הנה הגדתי זאת לכם בטרם היותה למען בבואה תאמינו
30 I shall not talk to you much longer, because the prince of this world is on his way. He has no powerover me,	30 לא ארבה עוד אמרים עמכם כי יבוא שר העולם הזה ובי אין לו מאומה
31 but the world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded.Come now, let us go.	31 אך למען ידע העולם כי את אבי אני אהב וכאשר צוני אבי כן אני עשה קומו ונלכה מזה
