John 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me.	1 «No se turbe vuestro corazón. Creéis en Dios: creed también en mí.
2 In my Father's house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going nowto prepare a place for you,	2 En la casa de mi Padre hay muchas mansiones; si no, os lo habría dicho; porque voy a prepararos un lugar.
3 and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you maybe with me where I am.	3 Y cuando haya ido y os haya preparado un lugar, volveré y os tomaré conmigo, para que donde esté yo estéis también vosotros.
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.	4 Y adonde yo voy sabéis el camino».
5 Thomas said, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?'	5 Le dice Tomás: «Señor, no sabemos a dónde vas, ¿cómo podemos saber el camino?»
6 Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.	6 Le dice Jesús: «Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida. Nadie va al Padre sino por mí.
7 If you know me, you will know my Father too. From this moment you know him and have seen him.	7 Si me conocéis a mí, conoceréis también a mi Padre; desde ahora lo conocéis y lo habéis visto».
8 Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we shall be satisfied.' Jesus said to him,	8 Le dice Felipe: «Señor, muéstranos al Padre y nos basta».
9 'Have I been with you al this time, Philip, and you stil do not know me? 'Anyone who has seen me hasseen the Father, so how can you say, "Show us the Father"?	9 Le dice Jesús: «¿Tanto tiempo hace que estoy con vosotros y no me conoces Felipe? El que me ha visto a mí, ha visto al Padre. ¿Cómo dices tú: “Muéstranos al Padre”?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I say to you I do not speakof my own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his works.	10 ¿No crees que yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mí? Las palabras que os digo, no las digo por mi cuenta; el Padre que permanece en mí es el que realiza las obras.
11 You must believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe iton the evidence of these works.	11 Creedme: yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mí. Al menos, creedlo por las obras.
12 In all truth I tell you, whoever believes in me wil perform the same works as I do myself, and wilperform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.	12 En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que crea en mí, hará él también las obras que yo hago, y hará mayores aún, porque yo voy al Padre.
13 Whatever you ask in my name I wil do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.	13 Y todo lo que pidáis en mi nombre, yo lo haré, para que el Padre sea glorificado en el Hijo.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I wil do it.	14 Si me pedís algo en mi nombre, yo lo haré.
15 If you love me you wil keep my commandments.	15 Si me amáis, guardaréis mis mandamientos;
16 I shall ask the Father, and he wil give you another Paraclete to be with you for ever,	16 y yo pediré al Padre y os dará otro Paráclito, para que esté con vosotros para siempre,
17 the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you knowhim, because he is with you, he is in you.	17 el Espíritu de la verdad, a quien el mundo no puede recibir, porque no le ve ni le conoce. Pero vosotros le conocéis, porque mora con vosotros.
18 I shall not leave you orphans; I shall come to you.	18 No os dejaré huérfanos: volveré a vosotros.
19 In a short time the world wil no longer see me; but you wil see that I live and you also wil live.	19 Dentro de poco el mundo ya no me verá, pero vosotros si me veréis, porque yo vivo y también vosotros viviréis.
20 On that day you wil know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you.	20 Aquel día comprenderéis que yo estoy en mi Padre y vosotros en mí y yo en vosotros.
21 Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever lovesme will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him.'	21 El que tiene mis mandamientos y los guarda, ése es el que me ama; y el que me ame, será amado de mi Padre; y yo le amaré y me manifestaré a él».
22 Judas -- not Judas Iscariot -- said to him, 'Lord, what has happened, that you intend to show yourselfto us and not to the world?'	22 Le dice Judas - no el Iscariote -: «Señor, ¿qué pasa para que te vayas a manifestar a nosotros y no al mundo?»
23 Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me wil keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shalcome to him and make a home in him.	23 Jesús le respondió: «Si alguno me ama, guardará mi Palabra, y mi Padre le amará, y vendremos a él, y haremos morada en él.
24 Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: itis the word of the Father who sent me.	24 El que no me ama no guarda mis palabras. Y la palabra que escucháis no es mía, sino del Padre que me ha enviado.
25 I have said these things to you while still with you;	25 Os he dicho estas cosas estando entre vosotros.
26 but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father wil send in my name, wil teach you everythingand remind you of al I have said to you.	26 Pero el Paráclito, el Espíritu Santo, que el Padre enviará en mi nombre, os lo enseñará todo y os recordará todo lo que yo os he dicho.
27 Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is mygift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.	27 Os dejo la paz, mi paz os doy; no os la doy como la da el mundo. No se turbe vuestro corazón ni se acobarde.
28 You heard me say: I am going away and shal return. If you loved me you would be glad that I amgoing to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.	28 Habéis oído que os he dicho: “Me voy y volveré a vosotros.” Si me amarais, os alegraríais de que me fuera al Padre, porque el Padre es más grande que yo.
29 I have told you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.	29 Y os lo digo ahora, antes de que suceda, para que cuando suceda creáis.
30 I shall not talk to you much longer, because the prince of this world is on his way. He has no powerover me,	30 Ya no hablaré muchas cosas con vosotros, porque llega el Príncipe de este mundo. En mí no tiene ningún poder;
31 but the world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded.Come now, let us go.	31 pero ha de saber el mundo que amo al Padre y que obro según el Padre me ha ordenado. Levantaos. Vámonos de aquí».
