John 14

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me.	1 «No se inquieten. Crean en Dios y crean también en mí.
2 In my Father's house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going nowto prepare a place for you,	2 En la Casa de mi Padre hay muchas habitaciones; si no fuera así, se lo habría dicho a ustedes. Yo voy a prepararles un lugar.
3 and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you maybe with me where I am.	3 Y cuando haya ido y les haya preparado un lugar, volveré otra vez para llevarlos conmigo, a fin de que donde yo esté, estén también ustedes.
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.	4 Ya conocen el camino del lugar adonde voy».
5 Thomas said, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?'	5 Tomás le dijo: «Señor, no sabemos adónde vas. ¿Cómo vamos a conocer el camino?».
6 Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.	6 Jesús le respondió: «Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida. Nadie va al Padre, sino por mí.
7 If you know me, you will know my Father too. From this moment you know him and have seen him.	7 Si ustedes me conocen, conocerán también a mi Padre. Ya desde ahora lo conocen y lo han visto».
8 Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we shall be satisfied.' Jesus said to him,	8 Felipe le dijo: «Señor, muéstranos al Padre y eso nos basta».
9 'Have I been with you al this time, Philip, and you stil do not know me? 'Anyone who has seen me hasseen the Father, so how can you say, "Show us the Father"?	9 Jesús le respondió: «Felipe, hace tanto tiempo que estoy con ustedes, ¿y todavía no me conocen?. El que me ha visto, ha visto al Padre. ¿Como dices: «Muéstranos al Padre»?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I say to you I do not speakof my own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his works.	10 ¿No crees que yo estoy en el Padre y que el Padre está en mí? Las palabras que digo no son mías: el Padre que habita en mí es el que hace las obras.
11 You must believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe iton the evidence of these works.	11 Créanme: yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mí. Créanlo, al menos, por las obras.
12 In all truth I tell you, whoever believes in me wil perform the same works as I do myself, and wilperform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.	12 Les aseguro que el que cree en mí hará también las obras que yo hago, y aún mayores, porque yo me voy al Padre.
13 Whatever you ask in my name I wil do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.	13 Y yo haré todo lo que ustedes pidan en mi Hombre, para que el Padre sea glorificado en el Hijo.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I wil do it.	14 Si ustedes me piden algo en mi Nombre, yo lo haré.
15 If you love me you wil keep my commandments.	15 Si ustedes me aman, cumplirán mis mandamientos.
16 I shall ask the Father, and he wil give you another Paraclete to be with you for ever,	16 Y yo rogaré al Padre, y él les dará otro Paráclito para que esté siempre con ustedes:
17 the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you knowhim, because he is with you, he is in you.	17 el Espíritu de la Verdad, a quien el mundo no puede recibir, porque no lo ve ni lo conoce. Ustedes, en cambio, lo conocen, porque él permanece con ustedes y estará en ustedes.
18 I shall not leave you orphans; I shall come to you.	18 No los dejaré huérfanos, volveré a ustedes.
19 In a short time the world wil no longer see me; but you wil see that I live and you also wil live.	19 Dentro de poco el mundo ya no me verá, pero ustedes sí me verán, porque yo vivo y también ustedes vivirán.
20 On that day you wil know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you.	20 Aquel día comprenderán que yo estoy en mi Padre, y que ustedes están en mí y yo en ustedes.
21 Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever lovesme will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him.'	21 El que recibe mis mandamientos y los cumple, ese es el que me ama; y el que me ama será amado por mi Padre, y yo lo amaré y me manifestaré a él».
22 Judas -- not Judas Iscariot -- said to him, 'Lord, what has happened, that you intend to show yourselfto us and not to the world?'	22 Judas –no el Iscariote– le dijo: «Señor, ¿por qué te vas a manifestar a nosotros y no al mundo?».
23 Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me wil keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shalcome to him and make a home in him.	23 Jesús le respondió: «El que me ama será fiel a mi palabra, y mi Padre lo amará; iremos a él y habitaremos en él.
24 Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: itis the word of the Father who sent me.	24 El que no me ama no es fiel a mis palabras. La palabra que ustedes oyeron no es mía, sino del Padre que me envió.
25 I have said these things to you while still with you;	25 Yo les digo estas cosas mientras permanezco con ustedes.
26 but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father wil send in my name, wil teach you everythingand remind you of al I have said to you.	26 Pero el Paráclito, el Espíritu Santo, que el Padre enviará en mi Nombre, les enseñará todo y les recordará lo que les he dicho.
27 Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is mygift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.	27 Les dejo la paz, les doy mi paz, pero no como la da el mundo. ¡No se inquieten ni teman!
28 You heard me say: I am going away and shal return. If you loved me you would be glad that I amgoing to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.	28 Me han oído decir: «Me voy y volveré a ustedes». Si me amaran, se alegrarían de que vuelva junto al Padre, porque el Padre es más grande que yo.
29 I have told you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.	29 Les he dicho esto antes que suceda, para que cuando se cumpla, ustedes crean.
30 I shall not talk to you much longer, because the prince of this world is on his way. He has no powerover me,	30 Ya no hablaré mucho más con ustedes, porque está por llegar el Príncipe de este mundo: él nada puede hacer contra mí,
31 but the world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded.Come now, let us go.	31 pero es necesario que el mundo sepa que yo amo al Padre y obro como él me ha ordenado. Levántense, salgamos de aquí».
