Deuteronomy 28

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 'But if you faithful y obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping and observing al hiscommandments, which I am laying down for you today, Yahweh your God wil raise you higher than every othernation in the world,	1 Se obedeceres fielmente à voz do Senhor, teu Deus, praticando cuidadosamente todos os seus mandamentos que hoje te prescrevo, o Senhor, teu Deus, elevar-te-á acima de todas as nações da terra.
2 and al these blessings wil befal and overtake you, for having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God.	2 Estas são as bênçãos que virão sobre ti, e te tocarão, se obedeceres à voz do Senhor, teu Deus.
3 'You wil be blessed in the town and blessed in the countryside;	3 Serás bendito na cidade e bendito nos campos.
4 blessed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the yield of your livestock, the young of yourcattle and the increase of your flocks;	4 Será bendito o fruto de tuas entranhas, o fruto de teu solo, o fruto de teu gado, as crias de tuas vacas e de tuas ovelhas;
5 blessed, your basket and your kneading trough.	5 benditas serão a tua cesta e a tua amassadeira.
6 You wil be blessed in coming home, and blessed in going out.	6 Serás bendito quando entrares e bendito quando saíres.
7 The enemies who attack you, Yahweh wil defeat before your eyes; they wil advance on you from onedirection and flee from you in seven.	7 O Senhor expulsará diante de ti todos os inimigos que te atacarem. Se vierem por um caminho contra ti, fugirão por sete caminhos diante de ti.
8 Yahweh wil command blessedness to be with you, on your barns and on al your undertakings, andhe wil bless you in the country given you by Yahweh your God.	8 O Senhor mandará que a bênção esteja contigo, em teus celeiros e em todas as tuas obras, e te abençoará na terra que te há de dar o Senhor, teu Deus.
9 'From you Yahweh wil make a people consecrated to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep thecommandments of Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways.	9 O Senhor te confirmará como um povo consagrado a ele, como te jurou, contanto que observes suas ordens e andes pelos seus caminhos.
10 The peoples of the world, seeing that you bear Yahweh's name, wil al be afraid of you.	10 Todos os povos da terra verão, então, que és marcado com o nome do Senhor, e temer-te-ão.
11 Yahweh wil make you abound in possessions: in the offspring of your body, in the yield of your cattleand in the yield of your soil, in the country which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you.	11 O Senhor, teu Deus, cumularte-á de bens, multiplicará o fruto de tuas entranhas, o fruto de teus animais, o fruto de tua terra, na terra que jurou a teus pais dar-te.
12 For you Yahweh wil open his treasury of rain, the heavens, to give your country its rain at the righttime, and to bless al your labours. You wil make many nations your subjects, yet you wil be subject to none.	12 o Senhor abrirá para ti as suas preciosas reservas, os céus, para dar a seu tempo a chuva necessária à tua terra e para abençoar todo o trabalho de tuas mãos. Assim, emprestarás a muitas nações, e de nenhuma receberás emprestado.
13 Yahweh wil put you at the head, not at the tail; you wil always be on top and never underneath, ifyou listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, and then keepthem and put them into practice,	13 O Senhor te porá à frente e não na cauda; estarás sempre no alto, jamais embaixo, contanto que obedeças às ordens do Senhor, teu Deus, que hoje te prescrevo, que as observes e as ponhas em prática,
14 not deviating to right or to left from any of the words which I am laying down for you today, byfol owing other gods and serving them.	14 e não te desvies nem para a direita nem para a esquerda de nenhuma das prescrições que hoje te dou, para seguires a outros deuses e dar-lhes culto.
15 'But if you do not obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and do not keep and observe all hiscommandments and laws which I am laying down for you today then all these curses wil befall and overtakeyou.	15 Mas se não obedeceres à voz do Senhor, teu Deus, se não praticares cuidadosamente todos os seus mandamentos e todas as suas leis que hoje te prescrevo, virão sobre ti e te alcançarão todas estas maldições:
16 'You wil be accursed in the town and accursed in the countryside;	16 serás maldito na cidade e maldito nos campos.
17 accursed, your basket and your kneading trough;	17 Serão malditas tua cesta e tua amassadeira;
18 accursed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the young of your cattle and the increaseof your flock.	18 será maldito o fruto de tuas entranhas, o fruto do teu solo, as crias de tuas vacas e de tuas ovelhas.
19 You wil be accursed in coming home, and accursed in going out.	19 Serás maldito quando entrares e maldito serás quando saíres.
20 'Yahweh wil send a curse on you, a spel , an imprecation on al your labours until you have beendestroyed and quickly perish, because of your perverse behaviour, for having deserted me.	20 O Senhor mandará contra ti a maldição, o pânico e a ameaça em todas as tuas empresas, até que sejas destruído e aniquilado sem demora, por causa da perversidade, de tuas ações e por me teres abandonado.
21 Yahweh wil fasten the plague on you, until it has exterminated you from the country which you areabout to enter and make your own.	21 O Senhor mandar-te-á a peste, até que ela te tenha apagado da terra em que vais entrar para possuí-la.
22 Yahweh wil strike you down with consumption, fever, inflammation, burning fever, drought, wind-blast, mildew, and these wil pursue you to your ruin.	22 O Senhor te ferirá de fraqueza, febre e inflamação, febre ardente e secura, carbúnculo e mangra, flagelos que te perseguirão até que pereças.
23 The heavens above you wil be brass, the earth beneath you iron.	23 o céu que está por cima da tua cabeça será de bronze, e o solo será de ferro sob os teus pés.
24 Your country's rain Yahweh wil turn into dust and sand; it will fal on you from the heavens until youperish.	24 Em lugar da chuva ,necessária à tua terra, o Senhor dar-te-á pó e areia, que cairão do céu sobre ti até que pereças.
25 Yahweh wil have you defeated by your enemies; you will advance on them from one direction andflee from them in seven; and you wil be a terrifying object-lesson to al the kingdoms of the world.	25 O Senhor por-te-á em fuga diante dos teus inimigos. Se marchares contra eles por um caminho, por sete caminhos fugiras deles, e serás objeto de horror para todos os reinos da terra.
26 Your carcase will be carrion for al wild birds and al wild animals, with no one to scare them away.	26 Teu cadáver servirá de pasto a todas as aves do céu e a todos os animais da terra, sem que ninguém os expulse.
27 'Yahweh wil strike you down with Egyptian ulcers, with swel ings in the groin, with scurvy and theitch, for which you wil find no cure.	27 O Senhor te ferirá da úlcera do Egito, de hemorróidas, de sarna e de dartros incuráveis.
28 Yahweh wil strike you down with madness, blindness, distraction of mind,	28 o Senhor te ferirá de loucura, de cegueira e de embotamento de espírito.
29 until you grope your way at noon like a blind man groping in the dark, and your steps will lead younowhere. 'You will never be anything but exploited and plundered, with no one to save you.	29 Andarás às apalpadelas em pleno meio-dia como o cego na escuridão; fracassarás em tuas empresas e, não cessarás de ser oprimido e despojado, sem ninguém que te defenda.
30 Get engaged to a woman, another man will have her; build a house, you wil not live in it; plant avineyard, you wil not gather its first-fruits.	30 Receberás uma mulher, mas outro a possuirá; construirás uma casa, mas não a habitarás; plantarás uma vinha e não comerás os seus frutos.
31 Your ox wil be slaughtered before your eyes and you will eat none of it; your donkey wil be carriedoff in front of you and not be returned to you; your sheep wil be given to your enemies, and no one will come toyour help.	31 O teu boi será imolado sob os teus olhos, mas tu não comerás dele; teu jumento será arrebatado em tua presença, e não te será jamais restituído; tuas ovelhas serão dadas aos teus inimigos, sem que ninguém te venha em socorro.
32 Your sons and daughters wil be handed over to another people, and every day you will wear youreyes out watching for them, while your hands are powerless.	32 Teus filhos e tuas filhas serão dados a um povo estrangeiro; os teus olhos o verão e se consumirão de dor, esperando-os, mas a tua mão ficará impotente.
33 A nation hitherto unknown to you wil eat the yield of your soil and of all your hard work. You wilnever be anything but exploited and crushed.	33 Os frutos de tua terra e de teu trabalho serão comidos por um povo que não conheces, e serás sem cessar oprimido e esmagado;
34 You wil be driven mad by the sights you wil see.	34 enlouquecer-te-ás à vista de tudo o que teus olhos terão de ver.
35 Yahweh wil strike you down with foul ulcers on knee and leg, for which you wil find no cure -- fromthe sole of your foot to the top of your head.	35 O Senhor te ferirá nos joelhos e nas coxas com uma úlcera maligna e incurável, e que se estenderá da planta dos pés ao alto da cabeça.
36 'Yahweh wil send away both you and the king whom you have appointed to rule you to a nationunknown either to you or to your ancestors, and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone.	36 O Senhor te levará a ti e ao teu rei que tiveres sobre ti, ao meio de um povo que nem tu nem teus pais conheceram. Ali renderás culto a outros deuses, deuses de pau e de pedra.
37 And you wil be the astonishment, the byword, the laughing-stock of al the peoples where Yahweh istaking you.	37 Serás objeto de pasmo, de ludíbrio e de mofa para todos os povos no meio dos quais te conduzir o Senhor.
38 'You wil cast seed in plenty on the fields but harvest little, since the locust wil devour it.	38 Lançarás sementes em abundância nos teus campos, mas colherás pouco, porque o gafanhoto devastará tudo.
39 You wil plant and till your vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, since the grub willeat them up.	39 Plantaras a vinha, e dela cuidarás, mas não beberás vinho, nem nada colherás, porque o verme devorará tudo.
40 You wil grow olive trees throughout your territory but not anoint yourself with the oil, since your olivetrees wil be cut down.	40 Terás oliveiras em tuas terras, mas não terás óleo, porque as olivas cairão.
41 You wil father sons and daughters but they will not belong to you, since they wil go into captivity.	41 Gerarás filhos e filhas, mas não serão teus, porque irão para o cativeiro.
42 Al your trees and the whole yield of your soil will be the prey of insects.	42 O besouro consumirá todas as árvores e todos os frutos de teu solo.
43 'The foreigners living with you wil rise higher and higher at your expense, while you yourself sinklower and lower.	43 O estrangeiro que vive no meio de ti elevar-se-á cada vez mais, ao passo que tu descerás na mesma medida;
44 You wil be subject to them, not they to you; they wil be the ones at the head, and you the one at thetail.	44 ele te emprestará, mas não tu a ele; ele estará na frente, e tu na cauda.
45 'Al these curses wil befal you, pursue you and overtake you until you have been destroyed, for nothaving obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandments and laws which he has laid downfor you.	45 Todas estas maldições cairão sobre ti, te perseguirão e te alcançarão até que sejas exterminado, porque não ouviste a voz do Senhor, teu Deus, e não guardaste os mandamentos e as leis que ele te impôs.
46 They wil be a sign and a wonder over you and your descendants for ever.	46 Serão para ti e para a tua raça como um sinal e prodígio para sempre.
47 'For not having joyful y and with happy heart served Yahweh your God, despite the abundance ofeverything,	47 Visto que não serviste ao Senhor com alegria e bom coração, na abundância em que viveste,
48 you will have to serve the enemy whom Yahweh wil send against you, in hunger, thirst, lack ofclothing and total privation. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you.	48 servirás na fome, na sede, na nudez e na mais extrema miséria os inimigos quê o Senhor enviar contra ti; será posto no teu pescoço um jugo de ferro até que sejas aniquilado.
49 'Against you Yahweh wil raise a distant nation from the ends of the earth like an eagle taking wing: anation whose language you do not understand,	49 O Senhor suscitará contra ti das extremidades da terra uma nação longínqua, rápida como a águia, de uma língua bárbara,
50 a nation grim of face, with neither respect for the old, nor pity for the young.	50 e um rosto feroz, que não terá respeito pelo velho nem piedade com o menino.
51 He wil eat the yield of your cattle and the yield of your soil until you have been destroyed; he willleave you neither wheat, nor wine, nor oil, nor the young of your cattle, nor increase of your flock, until he hasmade an end of you.	51 Ela devorará o fruto de teus rebanhos e os produtos de teu solo, até que sejas aniquilado, e nada te deixará, nem trigo, nem vinho, nem óleo , nem a cria de tuas vacas, nem os filhotes de tuas ovelhas, até a tua ruína.
52 He wil besiege you inside al your towns until your loftiest and most strongly fortified walls collapse,on which, throughout your country, you have relied. He wil besiege you inside al the towns throughout yourcountry, given you by Yahweh your God.	52 Ela te sitiará em todas as tuas cidades, até que desabem os teus mais altos e mais fortes muros, em que punhas a tua confiança, em toda a terra que te tiver dado o Senhor, teu Deus.
53 During the siege and in the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you, you wil eat the offspring ofyour own body, the flesh of the sons and daughters given you by Yahweh your God.	53 Comerás o fruto de tuas entranhas, a carne de teus filhos e de tuas filhas, que o Senhor, teu Deus, te tiver dado, tão grandes serão a angústia e a miséria a que te reduzirá o teu inimigo.
54 The gentlest and tenderest of your men wil scowl at his brother, and at the wife whom he embraces,and at his remaining children,	54 O homem mais delicado de Israel, o mais mimoso, olhará com maus olhos o seu irmão, a mulher que repousa no seu seio e o que lhe resta ainda de filhos,
55 not wil ing to give any of them any of his own children's flesh, which he is eating; because of thesiege and the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns, he wil have nothing left.	55 não querendo repartir com nenhum deles a carne de seus filhos, da qual se alimentará ele mesmo, porque nada mais lhe restará no meio da miséria e da angústia a que te reduzirá o teu inimigo em todas as tuas cidades.
56 The most refined and fastidious of your women, so refined, so fastidious that she has never venturedto set the sole of her foot to the ground, wil scowl at the husband whom she embraces, and at her son anddaughter, and at the after-birth when it leaves her womb, and at the child to which she has given birth-	56 A mulher mais delicada dentre vós, a mais mimosa, que nem sequer tentava pousar na terra a planta dos pés, por causa de sua excessiva brandura e delicadeza, olhará com maus olhos o marido que repousava no seu seio, seu filho e sua filha,
57 she will hide away and eat them, so complete wil be the starvation resulting from the siege and thedistress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns.	57 {não querendo repartir com eles} as secundinas saídas de seu ventre e o filho que ela porá no mundo; porque em sua penúria de todas as coisas, ela os te à comido ocultamente, no meio da miséria e da angústia a que te reduzirá o teu inimigo em todas as tuas cidades.
58 'If you do not keep and observe al the words of this Law, which are written in this book, in the fear ofthis glorious and awe-inspiring name: Yahweh your God,	58 Se não cuidares de observar todas as palavras desta lei, consignada neste livro, em sinal de reverência pelo nome glorioso e temível de Javé, teu Deus,
59 Yahweh wil strike you down with monstrous plagues, you and your descendants: with plaguesgrievous and lasting, diseases pernicious and enduring.	59 o Senhor te ferirá, bem como a tua posteridade, com pragas extraordinárias, pragas grandes e permanentes, doenças perniciosas e pertinazes.
60 He wil afflict you with al the maladies of Egypt which you used to dread, and they wil fasten on you.	60 Fará voltar contra ti todas as enfermidades do Egito que temias, e elas pegarão em ti.
61 What is more, Yahweh wil afflict you with all the plagues and all the diseases not mentioned in thebook of this Law, until you have been destroyed.	61 Além disso, o Senhor enviará contra ti, até que sejas exterminado, toda sorte de enfermidades e pragas, que não estão escritas no livro desta lei.
62 There will only be a smal group of you left, you who were once as numerous as the stars of heaven.'For not having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God,	62 Vós, que éreis numerosos como as estrelas do céu, sereis reduzidos a um punhado de homens, porque tu não obedeceste à voz do Senhor, teu Deus.
63 just as Yahweh used to delight in making you happy and in making your numbers grow, so wil hetake delight in ruining you and destroying you. You wil be torn from the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.	63 E ,assim como o Senhor se comprazia em vos fazer bem e em vos multiplicar, assim se comprazerá em vos fazer perecer e em vos exterminar. Sereis arrancados da terra em que entrardes para possuí-la.
64 Yahweh wil scatter you throughout every people, from one end of the earth to the other; there youwil serve other gods made of wood and stone, hitherto unknown either to you or to your ancestors.	64 O Senhor te dispersará entre todas as nações, de uma extremidade a outra da terra, e lá renderás culto a outros deuses, deuses de pau e de pedra, que nem tu nem teus pais conheceram.
65 Among these nations there wil be no repose for you, no rest for the sole of your foot; there Yahwehwil give you a quaking heart, weary eyes, halting breath.	65 Não haverá segurança para ti no meio desses povos, nem repouso para a planta de teus pés. O Senhor te dará ali um coração agitado, olhos lânguidos e uma alma desfalecida.
66 Your life ahead of you wil hang in doubt; you wil be afraid day and night, uncertain of your life.	66 A tua vida estará como em suspenso diante de ti. Terás pavores de noite e de dia, sem nenhuma certeza de viver.
67 In the morning you wil say, "How I wish it were evening!", and in the evening you will say, "How I wish it were morning!", such terror will grip your heart and such sights you wil see!	67 Pela manhã dirás: oxalá que fosse a tarde! E à tarde dirás: oxalá que fosse a manhã! Isso, por causa do terror que possuirá o teu coração, e do espetáculo que terão de ver os teus olhos.
68 Yahweh wil send you back to Egypt, either by ship or by a road which I promised you would neversee again. And there you wil want to offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as serving men and women, butno one wil buy you.'	68 O Senhor te reconduzirá em navios ao Egito, pelo caminho do qual eu te havia dito que não o veríeis mais. E ali, quando vós vos venderdes aos vossos inimigos como escravas e como escravas, não haverá ninguém que vos compre.
69 These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh ordered Moses to make with the Israelites inMoab, in addition to the covenant which he had made with them at Horeb.
