Deuteronomy 28

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 'But if you faithful y obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping and observing al hiscommandments, which I am laying down for you today, Yahweh your God wil raise you higher than every othernation in the world,	1 ORA egli avverrà, se pur tu ubbidisci alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo, per osservar di mettere in opera tutti i suoi comandamenti, i quali oggi ti do, che il Signore ti farà eccelso sopra tutte le nazioni della terra.
2 and al these blessings wil befal and overtake you, for having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God.	2 E tutte queste benedizioni verranno sopra te e ti giugneranno; perciocchè tu avrai ubbidito alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo.
3 'You wil be blessed in the town and blessed in the countryside;	3 Tu sarai benedetto nella città; tu sarai ancora benedetto ne’ campi.
4 blessed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the yield of your livestock, the young of yourcattle and the increase of your flocks;	4 Il frutto del tuo seno sarà benedetto, e il frutto della tua terra, e il frutto del tuo bestiame; i parti delle tue vacche e le gregge delle tue pecore.
5 blessed, your basket and your kneading trough.	5 Il tuo paniere sarà benedetto, e la tua madia.
6 You wil be blessed in coming home, and blessed in going out.	6 Tu sarai benedetto nel tuo entrare, e benedetto nel tuo uscire.
7 The enemies who attack you, Yahweh wil defeat before your eyes; they wil advance on you from onedirection and flee from you in seven.	7 Il Signore metterà i tuoi nemici che si saran levati contro a te, in rotta e sconfitta davanti a te; per una via usciranno contro a te, e per sette vie fuggiranno d’innanzi a te.
8 Yahweh wil command blessedness to be with you, on your barns and on al your undertakings, andhe wil bless you in the country given you by Yahweh your God.	8 Il Signore ordinerà alla benedizione ch’ella sia teco, ne’ tuoi granai, e in tutto ciò a che metterai la mano; e ti benedirà nella terra che il Signore Iddio tuo ti dà.
9 'From you Yahweh wil make a people consecrated to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep thecommandments of Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways.	9 Il Signore ti stabilirà per essergli un popol santo, come egli ti ha giurato; quando tu osserverai i comandamenti del Signore Iddio tuo, e camminerai nelle sue vie.
10 The peoples of the world, seeing that you bear Yahweh's name, wil al be afraid of you.	10 E tutti i popoli della terra vedranno che voi portate il Nome del Signore; e temeranno di te.
11 Yahweh wil make you abound in possessions: in the offspring of your body, in the yield of your cattleand in the yield of your soil, in the country which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you.	11 E il Signore Iddio tuo ti farà abbondare in beni, nel frutto del tuo seno, nel frutto del tuo bestiame, e nel frutto della tua terra, nel paese del quale egli giurò a’ tuoi padri, ch’egli te lo darebbe.
12 For you Yahweh wil open his treasury of rain, the heavens, to give your country its rain at the righttime, and to bless al your labours. You wil make many nations your subjects, yet you wil be subject to none.	12 Il Signore ti aprirà il suo buon tesoro, il cielo, per dare alla tua terra la sua pioggia al suo tempo, e per benedir tutta l’opera delle tue mani; e tu presterai a molte genti, e non prenderai nulla in presto.
13 Yahweh wil put you at the head, not at the tail; you wil always be on top and never underneath, ifyou listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, and then keepthem and put them into practice,	13 Il Signore ti metterà in capo, e non in coda; e non sarai giammai se non al disopra, e non al disotto; quando tu ubbidirai a’ comandamenti del Signore Iddio tuo, i quali oggi ti do, per osservarli, e per metterli in opera;
14 not deviating to right or to left from any of the words which I am laying down for you today, byfol owing other gods and serving them.	14 e non ti rivolgerai nè a destra nè a sinistra, d’alcuna delle cose che io ti comando oggi, per andar dietro ad altri dii, per servirli
15 'But if you do not obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and do not keep and observe all hiscommandments and laws which I am laying down for you today then all these curses wil befall and overtakeyou.	15 Ma, se tu non ubbidisci alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo, per osservar di mettere in opera tutti i suoi comandamenti, e i suoi statuti, i quali oggi ti do; egli avverrà che tutte queste maledizioni verranno sopra te, e ti giungeranno.
16 'You wil be accursed in the town and accursed in the countryside;	16 Tu sarai maledetto nella città, sarai ancora maledetto ne’ campi.
17 accursed, your basket and your kneading trough;	17 Il tuo paniere sarà maledetto, e la tua madia.
18 accursed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the young of your cattle and the increaseof your flock.	18 Il frutto del tuo seno sarà maledetto, e il frutto della tua terra; i parti delle tue vacche, e le gregge delle tue pecore.
19 You wil be accursed in coming home, and accursed in going out.	19 Tu sarai maledetto nel tuo entrare, e maledetto nel tuo uscire.
20 'Yahweh wil send a curse on you, a spel , an imprecation on al your labours until you have beendestroyed and quickly perish, because of your perverse behaviour, for having deserted me.	20 Il Signore manderà contro a te la maledizione, la dissipazione, e la perdizione, in ogni cosa alla quale tu metterai la mano, e la qual tu farai; finchè tu sii distrutto, e perito subitamente, per la malvagità dei tuoi fatti; perciocchè tu mi avrai abbandonato.
21 Yahweh wil fasten the plague on you, until it has exterminated you from the country which you areabout to enter and make your own.	21 Il Signore farà che la mortalità s’attaccherà a te, finchè ti abbia consumato d’in su la terra, nella qual tu entri per possederla.
22 Yahweh wil strike you down with consumption, fever, inflammation, burning fever, drought, wind-blast, mildew, and these wil pursue you to your ruin.	22 Il Signore ti percoterà di tisichezza, e d’arsura, e di febbre, e d’infiammazione; d’aridità, e di nebbia, e di rubiggine; che ti perseguiranno, finchè tu sii perito.
23 The heavens above you wil be brass, the earth beneath you iron.	23 E il tuo cielo, che sarà sopra il tuo capo, sarà di rame; e la terra, che sarà sotto di te, sarà di ferro.
24 Your country's rain Yahweh wil turn into dust and sand; it will fal on you from the heavens until youperish.	24 Il Signore manderà alla tua terra, in luogo di pioggia, polvere e cenere, la quale caderà sopra te dal cielo, finchè tu sii sterminato.
25 Yahweh wil have you defeated by your enemies; you will advance on them from one direction andflee from them in seven; and you wil be a terrifying object-lesson to al the kingdoms of the world.	25 Il Signore ti metterà in rotta e sconfitta davanti a’ tuoi nemici; per una via tu uscirai contro a loro, e per sette vie fuggirai d’innanzi a loro; e sarai agitato per tutti i regni della terra.
26 Your carcase will be carrion for al wild birds and al wild animals, with no one to scare them away.	26 E i tuoi corpi morti saranno per pasto a ogni uccello del cielo, e alle bestie della campagna, senza che alcuno le spaventi.
27 'Yahweh wil strike you down with Egyptian ulcers, with swel ings in the groin, with scurvy and theitch, for which you wil find no cure.	27 Il Signore ti percoterà dell’ulcere di Egitto, di morici, e di scabbia, e di pizzicore, onde tu non potrai guarire.
28 Yahweh wil strike you down with madness, blindness, distraction of mind,	28 Il Signore ti percoterà di smania, e di cecità, e di sbigottimento di cuore.
29 until you grope your way at noon like a blind man groping in the dark, and your steps will lead younowhere. 'You will never be anything but exploited and plundered, with no one to save you.	29 E andrai a tastone nel mezzodì, come il cieco va a tastone nell’oscurità, e non prospererai nelle tue vie; e del continuo non sarai se non oppressato e rubato; e non vi sarà alcuno che ti salvi.
30 Get engaged to a woman, another man will have her; build a house, you wil not live in it; plant avineyard, you wil not gather its first-fruits.	30 Tu sposerai moglie, e un altro si giacerà con lei; tu edificherai case, ma non vi abiterai dentro; tu pianterai vigne, e non ne coglierai il frutto per uso tuo comune.
31 Your ox wil be slaughtered before your eyes and you will eat none of it; your donkey wil be carriedoff in front of you and not be returned to you; your sheep wil be given to your enemies, and no one will come toyour help.	31 Il tuo bue sarà ammazzato nel tuo cospetto, e tu non ne mangerai; il tuo asino sarà rapito d’innanzi a te, e non ti sarà renduto; le tue pecore saranno date a’ tuoi nemici, e non vi sarà alcuno che te le riscuota.
32 Your sons and daughters wil be handed over to another people, and every day you will wear youreyes out watching for them, while your hands are powerless.	32 I tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole saranno date ad un popolo straniere; e gli occhi tuoi lo vedranno, e verranno meno del continuo dietro a loro, e non avrai alcuna forza nelle mani.
33 A nation hitherto unknown to you wil eat the yield of your soil and of all your hard work. You wilnever be anything but exploited and crushed.	33 Un popolo che tu non avrai conosciuto mangerà il frutto della tua terra, e tutta la tua fatica; e del continuo non sarai se non oppressato e conquassato.
34 You wil be driven mad by the sights you wil see.	34 E tu diventerai forsennato per le cose che vedrai con gli occhi.
35 Yahweh wil strike you down with foul ulcers on knee and leg, for which you wil find no cure -- fromthe sole of your foot to the top of your head.	35 Il Signore ti percoterà d’ulcera maligna in su le ginocchia, e in su le coscie, onde tu non potrai guarire; anzi dalla pianta del piè fino alla sommità della testa.
36 'Yahweh wil send away both you and the king whom you have appointed to rule you to a nationunknown either to you or to your ancestors, and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone.	36 Il Signore farà camminar te e il tuo re che tu avrai costituito sopra te, ad una nazione, le qual nè tu nè i tuoi padri non avrete conosciuta; e quivi servirai a dii stranieri, al legno ed alla pietra.
37 And you wil be the astonishment, the byword, the laughing-stock of al the peoples where Yahweh istaking you.	37 E sarai in istupore, in proverbio, e in favola fra tutti i popoli, dove il Signore ti avrà condotto.
38 'You wil cast seed in plenty on the fields but harvest little, since the locust wil devour it.	38 Tu recherai sementa assai al campo, e raccoglierai poco; perciocchè le locuste la consumeranno.
39 You wil plant and till your vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, since the grub willeat them up.	39 Tu pianterai vigne, e le lavorerai, e non ne berrai il vino, anzi non pure ne coglierai il frutto; perciocchè i vermini lo mangeranno.
40 You wil grow olive trees throughout your territory but not anoint yourself with the oil, since your olivetrees wil be cut down.	40 Tu avrai degli ulivi in tutte le tue contrade, ma tu non ti ungerai d’olio; perciocchè i tuoi ulivi perderanno il lor frutto.
41 You wil father sons and daughters but they will not belong to you, since they wil go into captivity.	41 Tu genererai figliuoli e figliuole, ma non saranno tuoi; perciocchè andranno in cattività.
42 Al your trees and the whole yield of your soil will be the prey of insects.	42 I grilli diserteranno tutti i tuoi alberi, e il frutto della tua terra.
43 'The foreigners living with you wil rise higher and higher at your expense, while you yourself sinklower and lower.	43 Il forestiere che sarà nel mezzo di te sarà innalzato ben alto sopra te, e tu sarai abbassato ben basso.
44 You wil be subject to them, not they to you; they wil be the ones at the head, and you the one at thetail.	44 Egli presterà a te, e tu non presterai a lui; egli sarà in capo, e tu in coda
45 'Al these curses wil befal you, pursue you and overtake you until you have been destroyed, for nothaving obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandments and laws which he has laid downfor you.	45 E tutte queste maledizioni verranno sopra te e ti perseguiranno, e ti giungeranno, finchè tu sii distrutto; perciocchè tu non avrai ubbidito alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo, per osservare i suoi comandamenti, e i suoi statuti, ch’egli ti ha dati.
46 They wil be a sign and a wonder over you and your descendants for ever.	46 E saranno in te, e nella tua progenie in perpetuo, per segno e per prodigio.
47 'For not having joyful y and with happy heart served Yahweh your God, despite the abundance ofeverything,	47 Perciocchè tu non avrai servito al Signore Iddio tuo allegramente, e di buon cuore, per l’abbondanza di ogni cosa.
48 you will have to serve the enemy whom Yahweh wil send against you, in hunger, thirst, lack ofclothing and total privation. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you.	48 E servirai a’ tuoi nemici, che il Signore avrà mandati contro a te, con fame, e con sete, e con nudità, e con mancamento d’ogni cosa; ed essi metteranno un giogo di ferro sopra il tuo collo, finchè t’abbiano distrutto.
49 'Against you Yahweh wil raise a distant nation from the ends of the earth like an eagle taking wing: anation whose language you do not understand,	49 Il Signore farà muovere una gente contro a te di lontano, dall’estremità della terra, a guisa che vola l’aquila; una gente, della quale tu non intenderai il linguaggio;
50 a nation grim of face, with neither respect for the old, nor pity for the young.	50 una gente sfacciata, la qual non avrà riguardo alla persona del vecchio, e non avrà mercè del fanciullo;
51 He wil eat the yield of your cattle and the yield of your soil until you have been destroyed; he willleave you neither wheat, nor wine, nor oil, nor the young of your cattle, nor increase of your flock, until he hasmade an end of you.	51 e mangerà il frutto del tuo bestiame, e il frutto della tua terra, finchè tu sii distrutto; e non ti lascerà di resto nè frumento, nè mosto, nè olio, nè figli delle tue vacche, nè gregge delle tue pecore; finchè t’abbia fatto perire.
52 He wil besiege you inside al your towns until your loftiest and most strongly fortified walls collapse,on which, throughout your country, you have relied. He wil besiege you inside al the towns throughout yourcountry, given you by Yahweh your God.	52 E ti assedierà in tutte le tue città, finchè le tue alte e forti mura, nelle quali tu ti sarai fidato in tutto il tuo paese, caggiano a terra; anzi ti assedierà dentro a tutte le tue porte, in tutto il tuo paese che il Signore Iddio tuo ti avrà dato.
53 During the siege and in the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you, you wil eat the offspring ofyour own body, the flesh of the sons and daughters given you by Yahweh your God.	53 E tu mangerai il frutto del tuo seno, la carne de’ tuoi figliuoli, e delle tue figliuole, che il Signore Iddio tuo ti avrà date, nell’assedio, e nella distretta, della quale i tuoi nemici ti stringeranno.
54 The gentlest and tenderest of your men wil scowl at his brother, and at the wife whom he embraces,and at his remaining children,	54 L’occhio del più morbido e delicato uomo fra voi sarà maligno inverso il suo fratello, e inverso la moglie del suo seno, e inverso il rimanente de’ suoi figliuoli ch’egli avrà riserbati;
55 not wil ing to give any of them any of his own children's flesh, which he is eating; because of thesiege and the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns, he wil have nothing left.	55 per non dare ad alcun di loro nulla della carne degli altri suoi figliuoli, la quale egli mangerà; perciocchè non gli sarà rimasto nulla nell’assedio, e nella distretta, della quale i tuoi nemici ti stringeranno dentro a tutte le tue porte.
56 The most refined and fastidious of your women, so refined, so fastidious that she has never venturedto set the sole of her foot to the ground, wil scowl at the husband whom she embraces, and at her son anddaughter, and at the after-birth when it leaves her womb, and at the child to which she has given birth-	56 L’occhio della più morbida e delicata donna fra voi, la quale non si sarebbe pure attentata di posar la pianta del piede in terra, per delicatezza e morbidezza, sarà maligno inverso il marito del suo seno, e inverso il suo figliuolo, e inverso la sua figliuola;
57 she will hide away and eat them, so complete wil be the starvation resulting from the siege and thedistress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns.	57 e ciò, per la secondina che le uscirà d’infra le gambe, e per li suoi figliuoli che partorirà; perciocchè ella li mangerà di nascosto per mancamento d’ogni cosa, nell’assedio e nella distretta, della quale il tuo nemico ti stringerà dentro alle tue porte.
58 'If you do not keep and observe al the words of this Law, which are written in this book, in the fear ofthis glorious and awe-inspiring name: Yahweh your God,	58 Se tu non osservi di mettere in opera tutte le parole di questa Legge, che sono scritte in questo Libro, per temer questo Nome glorioso e tremendo, il Signore Iddio tuo,
59 Yahweh wil strike you down with monstrous plagues, you and your descendants: with plaguesgrievous and lasting, diseases pernicious and enduring.	59 il Signore percoterà te e la tua progenie di battiture strane, grandi e durabili; e di malattie malvage e durabili.
60 He wil afflict you with al the maladies of Egypt which you used to dread, and they wil fasten on you.	60 E farà ritornar sopra te tutti i languori di Egitto, de’ quali tu hai avuta paura; ed essi si attaccheranno a te.
61 What is more, Yahweh wil afflict you with all the plagues and all the diseases not mentioned in thebook of this Law, until you have been destroyed.	61 Il Signore ti farà eziandio venire addosso ogni altra infermità e piaga, che non è scritta nel Libro di questa Legge; finchè tu sii distrutto.
62 There will only be a smal group of you left, you who were once as numerous as the stars of heaven.'For not having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God,	62 E voi resterete poca gente, là dove per addietro sarete stati come le stelle del cielo, in moltitudine; perciocchè tu non avrai ubbidito alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo.
63 just as Yahweh used to delight in making you happy and in making your numbers grow, so wil hetake delight in ruining you and destroying you. You wil be torn from the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.	63 E avverrà che, siccome il Signore si sarà rallegrato in voi, facendovi del bene, e moltiplicandovi; così si rallegrerà in voi, facendovi perire, e distruggendovi; e sarete divelti d’in su la terra, nella quale tu entri per possederla.
64 Yahweh wil scatter you throughout every people, from one end of the earth to the other; there youwil serve other gods made of wood and stone, hitherto unknown either to you or to your ancestors.	64 E il Signore ti dispergerà fra tutti i popoli, da uno estremo della terra all’altro estremo; e quivi servirai ad altri dii, i quali nè tu, nè i tuoi padri, non avete conosciuti; al legno ed alla pietra.
65 Among these nations there wil be no repose for you, no rest for the sole of your foot; there Yahwehwil give you a quaking heart, weary eyes, halting breath.	65 Ancora fra quelle genti non avrai alcuna requie, e la pianta del tuo piè non avrà alcun riposo; e il Signore vi darà quivi un cuor tremante, e consumamento d’occhi, e doglia d’animo.
66 Your life ahead of you wil hang in doubt; you wil be afraid day and night, uncertain of your life.	66 E la tua vita ti starà dirimpetto in pendente; e sarai in ispavento notte e giorno; e non sarai sicuro della tua vita.
67 In the morning you wil say, "How I wish it were evening!", and in the evening you will say, "How I wish it were morning!", such terror will grip your heart and such sights you wil see!	67 La mattina tu dirai: Oh! fosse pur sera! e la sera dirai: Oh! fosse pur mattina! per lo spavento del tuo cuore, del quale sarai spaventato, e per le cose che vedrai con gli occhi.
68 Yahweh wil send you back to Egypt, either by ship or by a road which I promised you would neversee again. And there you wil want to offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as serving men and women, butno one wil buy you.'	68 E il Signore ti farà ritornare in Egitto, per navi, per far viaggio nel paese, del quale io ti ho detto: Mai più non lo vedrai. E quivi voi vi venderete a’ vostri nemici per servi e per serve, e non vi sarà chi vi comperi
69 These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh ordered Moses to make with the Israelites inMoab, in addition to the covenant which he had made with them at Horeb.
