1 'But if you faithful y obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping and observing al hiscommandments, which I am laying down for you today, Yahweh your God wil raise you higher than every othernation in the world,	1 Ma se tu ascolterai la voce del Signore Dio tuo, mettendo in pratica, e osservando tutti i suoi comandamenti, ch'io oggi ti annunzio, il Signore Dio tuo ti farà più illustre di quante nazioni sono sopra la terra.
2 and al these blessings wil befal and overtake you, for having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God.	2 E verranno sopra di te, e ti circonderanno tutte queste benedizioni: purché tu ascolti i suoi precetti.
3 'You wil be blessed in the town and blessed in the countryside;	3 Tu sarai benedetto in città,e benedetto alla campagna.
4 blessed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the yield of your livestock, the young of yourcattle and the increase of your flocks;	4 Benedetto il frutto del tuo seno, e il frutto della tua terra, e il frutto dei tuoi bestiami, o le mandre de' tuoi armenti, e i greggi delle tue pecore.
5 blessed, your basket and your kneading trough.	5 Benedetti i tuoi granai, e benedetti i tuoi avanzi.
6 You wil be blessed in coming home, and blessed in going out.	6 Benedetto sarai in andando, e in venendo.
7 The enemies who attack you, Yahweh wil defeat before your eyes; they wil advance on you from onedirection and flee from you in seven.	7 Il Signore abbatterà ai tuoi piedi i tuoi nemici, che si muovono contro di te: per una strada verranno contro di te, e per sette fuggiranno dal tuo cospetto.
8 Yahweh wil command blessedness to be with you, on your barns and on al your undertakings, andhe wil bless you in the country given you by Yahweh your God.	8 Manderà benedizione il Signore sopra le tue dispense, e sopra tutti i lavori delle tue mani: e ti benedirà nella terra, che a te sarà data.
9 'From you Yahweh wil make a people consecrated to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep thecommandments of Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways.	9 II Signore ti stabilirà per suo popolo santo, come giurò a te, se osserverai i comandamenti del Signore Dio tuo, camminerai nelle sue vie.
10 The peoples of the world, seeing that you bear Yahweh's name, wil al be afraid of you.	10 E tutt’i popoli della terra vedranno, come dal Signore tu prendi il tuo nome, e ti temeranno.
11 Yahweh wil make you abound in possessions: in the offspring of your body, in the yield of your cattleand in the yield of your soil, in the country which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you.	11 Farà il Signore, che tu abbondi di ogni bene, del frutto del tuo seno, e del frutto de' tuoi bestiami, del frutto della tua terra, la quale il Signore con giuramento promise a' padri tuoi di dare a te.
12 For you Yahweh wil open his treasury of rain, the heavens, to give your country its rain at the righttime, and to bless al your labours. You wil make many nations your subjects, yet you wil be subject to none.	12 Aprirà il Signore il suo ricchissimo tesoro, il cielo, per dare a' suoi tempi le piogge alla tua terra: e benedirà tutti i lavori delle tue mani. E tu darai il prestito a molte genti, e non prenderai in prestito da nissuno.
13 Yahweh wil put you at the head, not at the tail; you wil always be on top and never underneath, ifyou listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, and then keepthem and put them into practice,	13 Il Signore ti farà essere il primo, e non l'ultimo: tu sarai sempre al di sopra, e non al di sotto: se però ascolterai i comandamenti del Signore Dio tuo, i quali io oggi ti annunzio, e gli osserverai, e li metterai in esecuzione,
14 not deviating to right or to left from any of the words which I am laying down for you today, byfol owing other gods and serving them.	14 E non torcerai da questi a destra, o a sinistra, e non seguirai gli dei stranieri, e non gli adorerai.
15 'But if you do not obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and do not keep and observe all hiscommandments and laws which I am laying down for you today then all these curses wil befall and overtakeyou.	15 Che se tu non vorrai ascoltar la voce del Signore Dio tuo, e non osserverai, né eseguirai tutti i suoi comandamenti, e le cerimonie, che io oggi ti annunzio, verran sopra di te tutte queste maledizioni, e t’investiranno.
16 'You wil be accursed in the town and accursed in the countryside;	16 Sarai maledetto nella città, maledetto nella campagna.
17 accursed, your basket and your kneading trough;	17 Maledetto il tuo granaio, e maledetti i tuoi avanzi.
18 accursed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the young of your cattle and the increaseof your flock.	18 Maledetto il frutto del tuo seno, e il frutto della tua terra, le mandre de' tuoi bovi, e i greggi delle tue pecore.
19 You wil be accursed in coming home, and accursed in going out.	19 Sarai maledetto e in venendo, e in andando.
20 'Yahweh wil send a curse on you, a spel , an imprecation on al your labours until you have beendestroyed and quickly perish, because of your perverse behaviour, for having deserted me.	20 Manderà il Signore sopra di te la fame, e la carestia, e la maledizione sopra tutti i lavori, che tu farai colla tua mano: fino a tanto che ti annienti, e in brevissimo tempo ti stermini a motivo delle inique tue invenzioni, per ragion delle quali tu l’avrai abbandonato.
21 Yahweh wil fasten the plague on you, until it has exterminated you from the country which you areabout to enter and make your own.	21 Faccia il Signore che si attacchi a te la pestilenza, per fino a tanto che ella ti consumi, e ti tolga speditamente dalla terra, della quale tu entrerai in possesso.
22 Yahweh wil strike you down with consumption, fever, inflammation, burning fever, drought, wind-blast, mildew, and these wil pursue you to your ruin.	22 Ti percuota il Signore colla povertà, colla febbre, e col freddo, co' calori, e colla siccità, e colla corruzione dell'aria, e colla ruggine, e ti perseguiti, sino a che tu sii sterminato.
23 The heavens above you wil be brass, the earth beneath you iron.	23 Il cielo che ti sovrasta, sia di bronzo: e di ferro sia la terra che tu calpesti.
24 Your country's rain Yahweh wil turn into dust and sand; it will fal on you from the heavens until youperish.	24 Dia il Signore alla tua terra pioggia di sabbia: e dal cielo cada cenere sopra di te, fino a che sii distrutto.
25 Yahweh wil have you defeated by your enemies; you will advance on them from one direction andflee from them in seven; and you wil be a terrifying object-lesson to al the kingdoms of the world.	25 Ti farà il Signore cader per terra a' piedi dei tuoi nemici: per una strada andrai tu contro di essi, e per sette fuggirai, e sarai disperso per tutti i regni della terra:
26 Your carcase will be carrion for al wild birds and al wild animals, with no one to scare them away.	26 E il tuo cadavere sarà pasto di tutti gli uccelli dell'aria, e delle bestie della terra: e nissun le discaccerà.
27 'Yahweh wil strike you down with Egyptian ulcers, with swel ings in the groin, with scurvy and theitch, for which you wil find no cure.	27 Ti flagellerà il Signore colle ulcere dell'Egitto, e nella parte del corpo, per cui escono gli escrementi, con iscabbia, e prurito irremediabile.
28 Yahweh wil strike you down with madness, blindness, distraction of mind,	28 Il Signore ti punirà colla stoltezza, e colla cecità, e col furor della mente.
29 until you grope your way at noon like a blind man groping in the dark, and your steps will lead younowhere. 'You will never be anything but exploited and plundered, with no one to save you.	29 E camminerai a tastoni di mezzo giorno, come suole andare un cieco privo di luce, e non troverai la strada. In ogni tempo sarai perseguitato dalla calunnia, e oppresso dalla violenza; né avrai chi te ne liberi.
30 Get engaged to a woman, another man will have her; build a house, you wil not live in it; plant avineyard, you wil not gather its first-fruits.	30 Prenderai moglie, e un altro te la torrà: fabbricherai una casa, e non l’abiterai: pianterai una vigna, e non ne farai la vendemmia.
31 Your ox wil be slaughtered before your eyes and you will eat none of it; your donkey wil be carriedoff in front of you and not be returned to you; your sheep wil be given to your enemies, and no one will come toyour help.	31 Sugli occhi tuoi sarà ucciso il tuo bue, e non mangerai delle sue carni. Ti sarà rapito il tuo asino, veggente te, e non ti sarà restituito. Le tue pecore saran date a' tuoi nemici, e nissun ti soccorrerà.
32 Your sons and daughters wil be handed over to another people, and every day you will wear youreyes out watching for them, while your hands are powerless.	32 I tuoi figliuoli, e le tue figliuole saran date in potere d'un popolo straniero; tu lo vedrai co' tuoi occhi, i quali si consumeranno a mirarli continuamente, e nulla potrà far per essi il tuo braccio.
33 A nation hitherto unknown to you wil eat the yield of your soil and of all your hard work. You wilnever be anything but exploited and crushed.	33 Tutti i frutti della tua terra, e tutte le tue fatiche se le divorerà un popolo a te ignoto: tu sarai sempre perseguitato, e oppresso in ogni tempo,
34 You wil be driven mad by the sights you wil see.	34 E sarai fuor di te pell’orrore di quel che vedrai cogli occhi tuoi.
35 Yahweh wil strike you down with foul ulcers on knee and leg, for which you wil find no cure -- fromthe sole of your foot to the top of your head.	35 Il Signore ti percuoterà con piaghe maligne nella ginocchia, e nelle polpe della gamba, e avrai mali incurabili dalle piante de' piedi sino alla cima del capo.
36 'Yahweh wil send away both you and the king whom you have appointed to rule you to a nationunknown either to you or to your ancestors, and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone.	36 Il Signore condurrà te, e il tuo re, cui tu ti sarai eletto, nel paese di una nazione non conosciuta da te, né da' padri tuoi: e ivi servirai agli dei stranieri, alla pietra, e al legno.
37 And you wil be the astonishment, the byword, the laughing-stock of al the peoples where Yahweh istaking you.	37 E diverrai lo stupore, l’esempio, e la favola di tutti i popoli, tra’ quali il Signore ti dispergerà.
38 'You wil cast seed in plenty on the fields but harvest little, since the locust wil devour it.	38 Spargerai molta semenza sulla terra, e poco raccoglierai: perocché ogni cosa sarà divorata dalle locuste.
39 You wil plant and till your vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, since the grub willeat them up.	39 Pianterai la vigna, e la zapperai, e non ne berai il vino, e non vi raccorrai cosa alcuna: perché sarà devastata da' vermi.
40 You wil grow olive trees throughout your territory but not anoint yourself with the oil, since your olivetrees wil be cut down.	40 Tu avrai degli ulivi in tutte le tue terre, e non avrai olio da ungerti: perché le ulive cadranno, e andranno male.
41 You wil father sons and daughters but they will not belong to you, since they wil go into captivity.	41 Tu genererai figliuoli, e figlie, ma non ne avrai consolazione: perché andranno in ischiavitù.
42 Al your trees and the whole yield of your soil will be the prey of insects.	42 Consumerà la ruggine tutti i tuoi alberi, e tutti i frutti della tua terra.
43 'The foreigners living with you wil rise higher and higher at your expense, while you yourself sinklower and lower.	43 Il forestiero che si sta teco nel tuo paese, ti soverchierà, e ne potrà più di te: e tu cadrai al basso, e starai al di sotto.
44 You wil be subject to them, not they to you; they wil be the ones at the head, and you the one at thetail.	44 Egli impresterà a te, e non tu a lui. Egli sarà il capo, e tu la coda.
45 'Al these curses wil befal you, pursue you and overtake you until you have been destroyed, for nothaving obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandments and laws which he has laid downfor you.	45 Sopra di te cadranno tutte queste maledizioni: e ti verran dietro, e ti circonderanno, sino a tanto che tu sii distrutto: perché tu non ascoltasti la voce del Signore Dio tuo, e non hai osservati i suoi comandamenti, e le cerimonie, ch'ei ti prescrisse.
46 They wil be a sign and a wonder over you and your descendants for ever.	46 E in te, e nella tua discendenza vedransi segni e prodigii in sempiterno.
47 'For not having joyful y and with happy heart served Yahweh your God, despite the abundance ofeverything,	47 Perché tu non hai servito al Signore Dio tuo, essendo nel gaudio, e nella letizia del tuo cuore per l’abbondanza di tutti i beni:
48 you will have to serve the enemy whom Yahweh wil send against you, in hunger, thirst, lack ofclothing and total privation. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you.	48 Tu servirai al tuo nimico mandato contro di te dal Signore, nella fame, e nella sete, e nella nudità, e nella miseria: e sopra il tuo collo porrà egli un giogo di ferro, onde tu ne resti schiacciato.
49 'Against you Yahweh wil raise a distant nation from the ends of the earth like an eagle taking wing: anation whose language you do not understand,	49 Da paese rimoto, dagli ultimi confini del mondo farà piombare il Signore sopra di te, come aquila che vola impetuosamente, una nazione, di cui tu non potrai capire il linguaggio:
50 a nation grim of face, with neither respect for the old, nor pity for the young.	50 Nazione al sommo arrogante, che non ha riguardo alla vecchia età, né compassione de' fanciullini;
51 He wil eat the yield of your cattle and the yield of your soil until you have been destroyed; he willleave you neither wheat, nor wine, nor oil, nor the young of your cattle, nor increase of your flock, until he hasmade an end of you.	51 Ed ella divorerà i frutti de' tuoi bestiami, e le biade della tua terra, sino a farti perire, perché non lascerà né grano, né vino, né olio, né le mandre dei bovi, né i greggi delle pecore: e poi ti dispergerà,
52 He wil besiege you inside al your towns until your loftiest and most strongly fortified walls collapse,on which, throughout your country, you have relied. He wil besiege you inside al the towns throughout yourcountry, given you by Yahweh your God.	52 E ti struggerà in tutte le tue città, e le tue mura forti e sublimi, nelle quali ponevi fidanza, saran distrutte per tutto il tuo paese. Ti sarà posto assedio nelle tue città per tutto il paese dato a te dal Signore Dio tuo.
53 During the siege and in the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you, you wil eat the offspring ofyour own body, the flesh of the sons and daughters given you by Yahweh your God.	53 E mangerai il frutto del proprio tuo seno, e le carni de' tuoi figliuoli, e delle tue figlie, che avrà date a te il Signore Dio tuo, nell’angustie, e nella desolazione, onde ti opprimerà il tuo nemico.
54 The gentlest and tenderest of your men wil scowl at his brother, and at the wife whom he embraces,and at his remaining children,	54 Uno de' tuoi delicato, e vivente nel lusso sarà tenace verso il proprio fratello, e verso la cara consorte,
55 not wil ing to give any of them any of his own children's flesh, which he is eating; because of thesiege and the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns, he wil have nothing left.	55 Per non dar loro delle carni de' suoi figliuoli, delle quali si ciberà; perché null'altra cosa egli ritrova nelle strettezze, e nella penuria, alla quale ti avranno ridotto tuoi nemici dentro tutte le tue città.
56 The most refined and fastidious of your women, so refined, so fastidious that she has never venturedto set the sole of her foot to the ground, wil scowl at the husband whom she embraces, and at her son anddaughter, and at the after-birth when it leaves her womb, and at the child to which she has given birth-	56 La donna tenera e delicata, che non sapeva muovere il passo, né porre il piede sopra la terra per la eccessiva mollezza e delicatezza, negherà di far parte al caro marito delle carni del figliuolo, e della figliuola,
57 she will hide away and eat them, so complete wil be the starvation resulting from the siege and thedistress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns.	57 E del sordido involto, che uscì dal suo ventre, e del bambino nato in quel punto stesso: imperocché li mangeran di nascosto per la penuria di ogni bene nelle strettezze, e nella desolazione, a cui ti ridurrà il tuo nimico dentro le tue città.
58 'If you do not keep and observe al the words of this Law, which are written in this book, in the fear ofthis glorious and awe-inspiring name: Yahweh your God,	58 Se tu non custodirai, e non metterai in esecuzione tutte le parole di questa Iegge scritte in questo volume: e non temerai quel suo nome glorioso e terribile, cioè a dire il Signore Dio tuo,
59 Yahweh wil strike you down with monstrous plagues, you and your descendants: with plaguesgrievous and lasting, diseases pernicious and enduring.	59 II Signore moltiplicherà i flagelli per te, flagelli per la tua discendenza, flagelli grandi e permanenti, malori orrendi e perpetui,
60 He wil afflict you with al the maladies of Egypt which you used to dread, and they wil fasten on you.	60 E sopra di te volgerà tutte le tribolazioni dell'Egitto, temute da te, e a te si attaccheranno.
61 What is more, Yahweh wil afflict you with all the plagues and all the diseases not mentioned in thebook of this Law, until you have been destroyed.	61 Farà ancora di più il Signore piover sopra di te i malori tutti, e le piaghe che in questo libro della legge non sono scritte, fino a tanto che ti abbia distrutto:
62 There will only be a smal group of you left, you who were once as numerous as the stars of heaven.'For not having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God,	62 E resterete in piccol numero voi che eravate pella moltitudine come le stelle del cielo; perché tu non ascoltasti la voce del Signore Dio tuo.
63 just as Yahweh used to delight in making you happy and in making your numbers grow, so wil hetake delight in ruining you and destroying you. You wil be torn from the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.	63 E siccome per lo passato il Signore prendea piacere a farvi del bene, e ad ingrandirvi così prenderà piacere a sperdervi e sterminarvi, affin di levarvi da quella terra, della quale entrerete ora al possesso.
64 Yahweh wil scatter you throughout every people, from one end of the earth to the other; there youwil serve other gods made of wood and stone, hitherto unknown either to you or to your ancestors.	64 Ti dispergerà il Signore tra tutte le genti da una estremità della terra insino all'altra: e ivi servirai agli dei stranieri non conosciuti da te, né dai padri tuoi, a' legni, e a' sassi.
65 Among these nations there wil be no repose for you, no rest for the sole of your foot; there Yahwehwil give you a quaking heart, weary eyes, halting breath.	65 Ma neppure tra quelle genti avrai posa né vi starai con piè fermo: perocché il Signore darà a te un cuor pauroso, e occhi smarriti, e anima consumata dalla tristezza:
66 Your life ahead of you wil hang in doubt; you wil be afraid day and night, uncertain of your life.	66 E sarà la tua vita quasi pendente dinanzi a te. Notte e giorno sarai in timore, e non crederai alla tua vita.
67 In the morning you wil say, "How I wish it were evening!", and in the evening you will say, "How I wish it were morning!", such terror will grip your heart and such sights you wil see!	67 La mattina dirai: Chi mi condurrà alla sera? E la sera: Chi mi condurrà alla mattina? per le paure, che avrai nel tuo cuore, onde sarai sbigottito, e per le cose, che cogli occhi proprii vedrai.
68 Yahweh wil send you back to Egypt, either by ship or by a road which I promised you would neversee again. And there you wil want to offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as serving men and women, butno one wil buy you.'	68 Il Signore ti ricondurrà sulle navi in Egitto, dopo che egli ti ha detto di non tornare a riveder quelle strade. Ivi sarete venduti ai vostri nemici per essere schiavi, e schiave, e mancheran compratori.
69 These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh ordered Moses to make with the Israelites inMoab, in addition to the covenant which he had made with them at Horeb.	69 Queste sono le condizioni dell'alleanza, che il Signore ordinò a Mosè di stabilir co' figliuoli d'Israele nella terra di Moab, oltre a quella ch'ei con essi fermò sull'Horeb.
