Deuteronomy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 'We then turned round and made for the desert, in the direction of the Sea of Suph, as Yahweh hadordered me. For many days we skirted Mount Seir.	1 Amikor aztán elindultunk onnét, elmentünk abba a pusztába, amely a Vörös-tenger felé visz, amint az Úr mondta nekem és hosszú ideig kerülgettük a Szeír hegyet.
2 Yahweh then said to me,	2 Majd azt mondta az Úr nekem:
3 "You have gone far enough round this mountain; now turn north.	3 ‘Eleget kerülgettétek már ezt a hegyet, menjetek észak felé;
4 And give the people this order: You are about to pass through the territory of your kinsmen, the sons ofEsau who live in Seir. They are afraid of you, and you wil be wel protected.	4 a népnek azonban parancsold meg: Át fogtok menni testvéreiteknek, Ézsau fiainak határán, akik Szeírben laknak, s ők félni fognak tőletek:
5 Do not provoke them, for I shall give you none of their land, no, not so much as a foot's length of it. Ihave given the highlands of Seir to Esau as his domain.	5 ám nagyon vigyázzatok, hogy ellenük ne induljatok, mert egy talpalatnyit sem adok nektek földjükből, mivel Ézsaunak adtam Szeír hegyét birtokul.
6 Pay them in money for what food you eat; and pay them in money for the water you drink.	6 Pénzen vegyetek eleséget tőlük, s azt egyétek, megfizetett vizet merítsetek s igyatok.
7 Yahweh your God has blessed you in al you do; he has watched over your journeying through this vastdesert. Yahweh your God has been with you these forty years and you have never been in want."	7 Az Úr, a te Istened megáldott téged kezed minden munkájában, figyelemmel kísérte utadat, mint jöttél át ezen a nagy pusztán: negyven esztendeje lakik veled az Úr, a te Istened, s nem volt hiányod semmiben sem.’
8 'So we passed beyond those relatives of ours, the children of Esau who live in Seir, by the road throughthe Arabah, Elath and Ezion-Geber; then, changing direction, we took the road towards the Plains of Moab.	8 Amikor aztán átvonultunk testvéreink, Ézsau fiai között, akik Szeírben laktak, a Mezőség útján át, Eláton és Ecjon-Gáberen keresztül, eljutottunk arra az útra, amely Moáb pusztájába vezet.
9 Yahweh then said to me, "Do not attack Moab, do not provoke him to fight, for I shal give you none ofhis land, since I have given Ar to the children of Lot as their domain."	9 Ekkor azt mondta az Úr nekem: ‘Ne indíts hadat a moabiták ellen, s ne szállj harcba velük, mert semmit sem adok neked földjükből, mivel Lót fiainak adtam Árt birtokul.
10 (At one time the Emim lived there, a great and numerous people, tal as the Anakim;	10 Ennek az emiták voltak az első lakói, egy nagy, erős és olyan szálas nép, mint az enakiták nemzetsége;
11 and, like the Anakim, they were considered to be Rephaim, though the Moabites cal them Emim.	11 az Óriások közé számították őket, éppen úgy, mint az enakiták fiait, de a moabiták emitáknak nevezik őket. –
12 The Horites, too, lived in Seir at one time; these, however, were dispossessed and exterminated bythe children of Esau who settled there in place of them, just as Israel has done in the country given to it byYahweh as a heritage.)	12 Szeírben pedig azelőtt a horiták laktak, de Ézsau fiai kiűzték és eltörölték őket, s ők telepedtek oda, úgy, ahogy Izrael tett a maga birtokának földjén, amelyet az Úr őneki adott.’
13 "On your way, then! Cross the Wadi Zered!" 'And so we crossed the Wadi Zered.	13 Felkerekedtünk tehát, hogy átkeljünk a Szered patakján és át is keltünk rajta.
14 From Kadesh-Barnea to the crossing of the Wadi Zered our wanderings had taken thirty-eight years;as a result of which, the entire generation of those of age to bear arms had been eliminated, as Yahweh hadsworn to them.	14 Az idő pedig, amely alatt Kádes-Barneától a Szered patakján való átkelésig jártunk, harmincnyolc esztendő volt, s ezalatt a hadra való férfiak egész nemzedéke kiveszett a táborból, amint az Úr megesküdött:
15 Yahweh's hand had been against them, to eliminate them completely from the camp.	15 az ő keze volt ellenük, hogy kivesszenek a táborból.
16 'When death had carried off from the people those of age to bear arms, to the last man,	16 Amikor aztán mind elestek a hadra való férfiak,
17 Yahweh said this to me,	17 így szólt az Úr hozzám:
18 "You are now crossing Ar, the country of Moab,	18 ‘Te ma átmégy Moáb határán, az Ár nevű városon
19 and soon you wil encounter the children of Ammon. Do not attack them, do not provoke them, for Ishall give you none of the land belonging to the children of Ammon as your domain. I have given it to thechildren of Lot as theirs."	19 és Ammon fiainak közelébe kerülsz; vigyázz, ne indíts hadat ellenük, s ne kezdj harcot velük, mert semmit sem adok neked Ammon fiainak földjéből, mivel Lót fiainak adtam azt birtokul.
20 (This used also to be considered as Rephaim territory; at one time the Rephaim lived there, thoughthe Ammonites call them Zamzummim,	20 (Ezt az Óriások földjéhez számították, s rajta egykor az Óriások laktak, de ezeket az ammoniták szamszummitáknak nevezik;
21 a great and numerous people, and tal like the Anakim. Yahweh exterminated them for the Ammoniteswho dispossessed them and settled there in place of them,	21 nagy, sok és szálas termetű nép volt, olyan, mint az enakiták. Az Úr eltörölte őket az ammoniták színe elől, s őket telepítette helyükre,
22 just as he had done for the children of Esau who live in Seir, so that they dispossessed the Horitesand settled there instead of them and are stil there now.	22 úgy, amint Ézsau fiaival cselekedett, akik Szeírben laknak, amikor eltörölte a horitákat, s Ézsau fiainak adta földjüket, amelyet bírnak is mind a mai napig.
23 It was the same with the Avvites who occupied encampments as far as Gaza: the Caphtorim, comingfrom Caphtor, exterminated them and settled there instead.)	23 A hivvitákat pedig, akik egészen Gázáig falvakban laktak, a kaftoriak űzték ki: ezek ugyanis kijöttek Kaftorból, eltörölték őket, s letelepedtek a helyükre.)
24 "On your way! Break camp and cross the Wadi Arnon. See, I am putting Sihon the Amorite, king ofHeshbon, at your mercy, and his country too. Set about the conquest; engage him in battle.	24 Kerekedjetek azonban fel és keljetek át az Arnon patakon. Íme, az amorita Szihont, Hesebon királyát a kezedbe adtam: láss hozzá, hogy elfoglald földjét, s indíts hadat ellene.
25 Today and henceforth, I shal fill the peoples under al heaven with fear and terror of you; whoeverhears word of your approach wil tremble and writhe in anguish because of you."	25 Ma kezdek el tőled való rettegést és félelmet bocsátani valamennyi népre, amely az ég alatt lakik, hogy neved hallatára rettegjenek és gyötrődjenek.’
26 'So, from the desert of Kedemoth I sent envoys to Sihon king of Heshbon with this peaceful message,	26 Követeket küldtem tehát Kádemót pusztájából Szihonhoz, Hesebon királyához békességes szavakkal, ezt üzentem:
27 "I intend to cross your country. I shal go my way, straying neither to right nor to left.	27 Hadd menjünk át földeden; az országúton megyünk, nem térünk le sem jobbra, sem balra;
28 I shal eat and pay for the food you choose to sell me, and I shall drink and pay for the water you letme have. I only want to march through,	28 eleséget, hogy ehessünk, pénzért adj nékünk, vizet pénzen adj, s úgy iszunk. Csak engedd meg nékünk az átvonulást –
29 just as the children of Esau who live in Seir permitted, as wel as the Moabites who live in Ar, until Icross the Jordan into the country that Yahweh our God is giving us."	29 úgy, amint Ézsau fiai cselekedtek, akik Szeírben laknak, meg a moabiták, akik Árban laknak –, míg eljutunk a Jordánhoz, s átkelünk arra a földre, amelyet az Úr, a mi Istenünk nekünk ad.
30 'But Sihon king of Heshbon would not give us leave to pass through his territory; Yahweh our God hadmade his spirit obstinate and his heart stubborn, to put him at your mercy, as he stil is.	30 De Szihon, Hesebon királya nem akarta megengedni nekünk az átvonulást, mert az Úr, a te Istened megkeményítette a lelkét és keménnyé tette a szívét, hogy kezedbe adhassa, mint ahogy most látod.
31 Yahweh said to me, "You see, I am starting to give you Sihon and his country. Begin the conquest byseizing his country."	31 Erre azt mondta az Úr nekem: ‘Íme, elkezdem kezedbe adni Szihont és földjét: láss hozzá elfoglalásához.’
32 Sihon marched out against us, he and all his people, to give battle at Jahaz.	32 Amikor aztán kijött elénk Szihon, egész népével együtt, hogy megütközzék velünk Jászában,
33 And Yahweh our God handed him over to us: we defeated him and his sons and al his people.	33 kezünkbe is adta az Úr, a mi Istenünk, s megvertük fiaival s egész népével együtt.
34 We captured al his towns and laid al these towns under the curse of destruction: men, women andchildren, we left no survivors	34 Ugyanabban az időben elfoglaltuk valamennyi városát, megöltük azok lakóit, a férfiakat, az asszonyokat s a gyermekeket: nem hagytunk meg bennük semmit,
35 except the livestock which we took as our booty, and the spoils of the captured towns.	35 csak az állatokat meg az elfoglalt városokból való zsákmányt: ezek a zsákmányszerzők osztályrészévé lettek.
36 From Aroer on the edge of the Arnon valley and from the town down in the val ey, as far as Gilead, notone town was beyond our reach; Yahweh our God delivered them al to us.	36 Ároertől, amely az Arnon patak partján van, attól a várostól, amely a völgyben fekszik, egészen Gileádig nem volt sem falu, sem város, amely megmenekült volna kezünktől: valamennyit átadta nekünk az Úr, a mi Istenünk,
37 You did not, however, go near the country of the Ammonites, or the region of the River Jabbok, or thetowns in the highlands, or anywhere forbidden us by Yahweh our God.'	37 kivéve Ammon fiainak földjét, amelyhez nem közelítettünk, vagyis mindazt, ami a Jabbok pataknál fekszik, meg a hegyi városokat és mindazokat a helyeket, amelyektől eltiltott minket az Úr, a mi Istenünk.
