Luke 9

NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 He cal ed the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases,	1 ودعا تلاميذه الاثني عشر واعطاهم قوة وسلطانا على جميع الشياطين وشفاء امراض.
2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.	2 وارسلهم ليكرزوا بملكوت الله ويشفوا المرضى.
3 He said to them, 'Take nothing for the journey: neither staff, nor haversack, nor bread, nor money; anddo not have a spare tunic.	3 وقال لهم لا تحملوا شيئا للطريق لا عصا ولا مزودا ولا خبزا ولا فضة ولا يكون للواحد ثوبان.
4 Whatever house you enter, stay there; and when you leave let your departure be from there.	4 واي بيت دخلتموه فهناك اقيموا ومن هناك اخرجوا.
5 As for those who do not welcome you, when you leave their town shake the dust from your feet asevidence against them.'	5 وكل من لا يقبلكم فاخرجوا من تلك المدينة وانفضوا الغبار ايضا عن ارجلكم شهادة عليهم.
6 So they set out and went from village to vil age proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.	6 فلما خرجوا كانوا يجتازون في كل قرية يبشرون ويشفون في كل موضع
7 Meanwhile Herod the tetrarch had heard about al that was going on; and he was puzzled, becausesome people were saying that John had risen from the dead,	7 فسمع هيرودس رئيس الربع بجميع ما كان منه وارتاب. لان قوما كانوا يقولون ان يوحنا قد قام من الاموات.
8 others that Elijah had reappeared, still others that one of the ancient prophets had come back to life.	8 وقوما ان ايليا ظهر. وآخرين ان نبيا من القدماء قام.
9 But Herod said, 'John? I beheaded him. So who is this I hear such reports about?' And he was anxiousto see him.	9 فقال هيرودس يوحنا انا قطعت راسه. فمن هو هذا الذي اسمع عنه مثل هذا. وكان يطلب ان يراه
10 On their return the apostles gave him an account of al they had done. Then he took them with him andwithdrew towards a town called Bethsaida where they could be by themselves.	10 ولما رجع الرسل اخبروه بجميع ما فعلوا. فاخذهم وانصرف منفردا الى موضع خلاء لمدينة تسمى بيت صيدا.
11 But the crowds got to know and they went after him. He made them welcome and talked to them aboutthe kingdom of God; and he cured those who were in need of healing.	11 فالجموع اذ علموا تبعوه. فقبلهم وكلمهم عن ملكوت الله. والمحتاجون الى الشفاء شفاهم.
12 It was late afternoon when the Twelve came up to him and said, 'Send the people away, and they cango to the vil ages and farms round about to find lodging and food; for we are in a lonely place here.'	12 فابتدأ النهار يميل. فتقدم الاثنا عشر وقالوا له اصرف الجمع ليذهبوا الى القرى والضياع حوالينا فيبيتوا ويجدوا طعاما لاننا ههنا في موضع خلاء.
13 He replied, 'Give them something to eat yourselves.' But they said, 'We have no more than five loavesand two fish, unless we are to go ourselves and buy food for al these people.'	13 فقال لهم اعطوهم انتم ليأكلوا. فقالوا ليس عندنا اكثر من خمسة ارغفة وسمكتين الا ان نذهب ونبتاع طعاما لهذا الشعب كله.
14 For there were about five thousand men. But he said to his disciples, 'Get them to sit down in parties ofabout fifty.'	14 لانهم كانوا نحو خمسة آلاف رجل. فقال لتلاميذه اتكئوهم فرقا خمسين خمسين.
15 They did so and made them al sit down.	15 ففعلوا هكذا واتكأوا الجميع.
16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, raised his eyes to heaven, and said the blessing overthem; then he broke them and handed them to his disciples to distribute among the crowd.	16 فاخذ الارغفة الخمسة والسمكتين ورفع نظره نحو السماء وباركهنّ ثم كسّر واعطى التلاميذ ليقدموا للجمع.
17 They al ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps left over were col ected they fil ed twelvebaskets.	17 فأكلوا وشبعوا جميعا. ثم رفع ما فضل عنهم من الكسر اثنتا عشرة قفة
18 Now it happened that he was praying alone, and his disciples came to him and he put this question tothem, 'Who do the crowds say I am?'	18 وفيما هو يصلّي على انفراد كان التلاميذ معه. فسألهم قائلا من تقول الجموع اني انا.
19 And they answered, 'Some say John the Baptist; others Elijah; others again one of the ancientprophets come back to life.'	19 فاجابوا وقالوا يوحنا المعمدان. وآخرون ايليا. وآخرون ان نبيا من القدماء قام.
20 'But you,' he said to them, 'who do you say I am?' It was Peter who spoke up. 'The Christ of God,' hesaid.	20 فقال لهم وانتم من تقولون اني انا. فاجاب بطرس وقال مسيح الله.
21 But he gave them strict orders and charged them not to say this to anyone.	21 فانتهرهم واوصى ان لا يقولوا ذلك لاحد
22 He said, 'The Son of man is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priestsand scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.'	22 قائلا انه ينبغي ان ابن الانسان يتألم كثيرا ويرفض من الشيوخ ورؤساء الكهنة والكتبة ويقتل وفي اليوم الثالث يقوم
23 Then, speaking to al , he said, 'If anyone wants to be a fol ower of mine, let him renounce himself andtake up his cross every day and fol ow me.	23 وقال للجميع ان اراد احد ان يأتي ورائي فلينكر نفسه ويحمل صليبه كل يوم ويتبعني.
24 Anyone who wants to save his life wil lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, wil save it.	24 فان من اراد ان يخلّص نفسه يهلكها. ومن يهلك نفسه من اجلي فهذا يخلّصها.
25 What benefit is it to anyone to win the whole world and forfeit or lose his very self?	25 لانه ماذا ينتفع الانسان لو ربح العالم كله واهلك نفسه او خسرها.
26 For if anyone is ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man wil be ashamed when hecomes in his own glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.	26 لان من استحى بي وبكلامي فبهذا يستحي ابن الانسان متى جاء بمجده ومجد الآب والملائكة القديسين.
27 'I tel you truly, there are some standing here who wil not taste death before they see the kingdom ofGod.'	27 حقا اقول لكم ان من القيام ههنا قوما لا يذوقون الموت حتى يروا ملكوت الله
28 Now about eight days after this had been said, he took with him Peter, John and James and went upthe mountain to pray.	28 وبعد هذا الكلام بنحو ثمانية ايام اخذ بطرس ويوحنا ويعقوب وصعد الى جبل ليصلّي.
29 And it happened that, as he was praying, the aspect of his face was changed and his clothing becamesparkling white.	29 وفيما هو يصلّي صارت هيئة وجهه متغيرة ولباسه مبيضا لامعا.
30 And suddenly there were two men talking to him; they were Moses and Elijah	30 واذا رجلان يتكلمان معه وهما موسى وايليا.
31 appearing in glory, and they were speaking of his passing which he was to accomplish in Jerusalem.	31 اللذان ظهرا بمجد وتكلما عن خروجه الذي كان عتيدا ان يكمله في اورشليم.
32 Peter and his companions were heavy with sleep, but they woke up and saw his glory and the two menstanding with him.	32 واما بطرس واللذان معه فكانوا قد تثقلوا بالنوم. فلما استيقظوا رأوا مجده والرجلين الواقفين معه.
33 As these were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, 'Master, it is wonderful for us to be here; so let usmake three shelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.' He did not know what he was saying.	33 وفيما هما يفارقانه قال بطرس ليسوع يا معلّم جيد ان نكون ههنا. فلنصنع ثلاثة مظال. لك واحدة ولموسى واحدة ولايليا واحدة. وهو لا يعلم ما يقول.
34 As he was saying this, a cloud came and covered them with shadow; and when they went into thecloud the disciples were afraid.	34 وفيما هو يقول ذلك كانت سحابة فظللتهم. فخافوا عندما دخلوا في السحابة.
35 And a voice came from the cloud saying, 'This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him.'	35 وصار صوت من السحابة قائلا هذا هو ابني الحبيب. له اسمعوا.
36 And after the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. The disciples kept silence and, at that time,told no one what they had seen.	36 ولما كان الصوت وجد يسوع وحده. واما هم فسكتوا ولم يخبروا احدا في تلك الايام بشيء مما ابصروه
37 Now it happened that on the fol owing day when they were coming down from the mountain a largecrowd came to meet him.	37 وفي اليوم التالي اذ نزلوا من الجبل استقبله جمع كثير.
38 And suddenly a man in the crowd cried out. 'Master,' he said, 'I implore you to look at my son: he is myonly child.	38 واذا رجل من الجمع صرخ قائلا يا معلّم اطلب اليك. انظر الى ابني. فانه وحيد لي.
39 A spirit wil suddenly take hold of him, and all at once it gives a sudden cry and throws the boy intoconvulsions with foaming at the mouth; it is slow to leave him, but when it does, it leaves the boy worn out.	39 وها روح يأخذه فيصرخ بغتة فيصرعه مزبدا وبالجهد يفارقه مرضضا اياه.
40 I begged your disciples to drive it out, and they could not.'	40 وطلبت الى تلاميذك ان يخرجوه فلم يقدروا.
41 In reply Jesus said, 'Faithless and perverse generation! How much longer must I be among you andput up with you? Bring your son here.'	41 فاجاب يسوع وقال ايها الجيل غير المؤمن والملتوي. الى متى اكون معكم واحتملكم. قدم ابنك الى هنا.
42 Even while the boy was coming, the devil threw him to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebukedthe unclean spirit and cured the boy and gave him back to his father,	42 وبينما هو آت مزقه الشيطان وصرعه. فانتهر يسوع الروح النجس وشفى الصبي وسلمه الى ابيه.
43 and everyone was awestruck by the greatness of God. But while everyone was ful of admiration for alhe did, he said to his disciples,	43 فبهت الجميع من عظمة الله واذ كان الجميع يتعجبون من كل ما فعل يسوع قال لتلاميذه
44 'For your part, you must have these words constantly in mind: The Son of man is going to be deliveredinto the power of men.'	44 ضعوا انتم هذا الكلام في آذانكم. ان ابن الانسان سوف يسلم الى ايدي الناس.
45 But they did not understand what he said; it was hidden from them so that they should not see themeaning of it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.	45 واما هم فلم يفهموا هذا القول وكان مخفى عنهم لكي لا يفهموه. وخافوا ان يسألوه عن هذا القول
46 An argument started between them about which of them was the greatest.	46 وداخلهم فكر من عسى ان يكون اعظم فيهم.
47 Jesus knew what thoughts were going through their minds, and he took a little child whom he set byhis side	47 فعلم يسوع فكر قلبهم واخذ ولدا واقامه عنده
48 and then he said to them, 'Anyone who welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; andanyone who welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me. The least among you all is the one who is thegreatest.'	48 وقال لهم. من قبل هذا الولد باسمي يقبلني. ومن قبلني يقبل الذي ارسلني. لان الاصغر فيكم جميعا هو يكون عظيما
49 John spoke up. 'Master,' he said, 'we saw someone driving out devils in your name, and because he isnot with us we tried to stop him.'	49 فاجاب يوحنا وقال يا معلّم رأينا واحد يخرج الشياطين باسمك فمنعناه لانه ليس يتبع معنا.
50 But Jesus said to him, 'You must not stop him: anyone who is not against you is for you.'	50 فقال له يسوع لا تمنعوه. لان من ليس علينا فهو معنا
51 Now it happened that as the time drew near for him to be taken up, he resolutely turned his facetowards Jerusalem	51 وحين تمت الايام لارتفاعه ثبّت وجهه لينطلق الى اورشليم.
52 and sent messengers ahead of him. These set out, and they went into a Samaritan vil age to makepreparations for him,	52 وارسل امام وجهه رسلا. فذهبوا ودخلوا قرية للسامريين حتى يعدوا له.
53 but the people would not receive him because he was making for Jerusalem.	53 فلم يقبلوه لان وجهه كان متجها نحو اورشليم.
54 Seeing this, the disciples James and John said, 'Lord, do you want us to cal down fire from heaven toburn them up?'	54 فلما رأى ذلك تلميذاه يعقوب ويوحنا قالا يا رب أتريد ان نقول ان تنزل نار من السماء فتفنيهم كما فعل ايليا ايضا.
55 But he turned and rebuked them,	55 فالتفت وانتهرهما وقال لستما تعلمان من اي روح انتما.
56 and they went on to another village.	56 لان ابن الانسان لم يأت ليهلك انفس الناس بل ليخلّص. فمضوا الى قرية اخرى
57 As they travel ed along they met a man on the road who said to him, 'I wil fol ow you wherever you go.'	57 وفيما هم سائرون في الطريق قال له واحد يا سيد اتبعك اينما تمضي.
58 Jesus answered, 'Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man hasnowhere to lay his head.'	58 فقال له يسوع للثعالب اوجرة ولطيور السماء اوكار. واما ابن الانسان فليس له اين يسند راسه.
59 Another to whom he said, 'Fol ow me,' replied, 'Let me go and bury my father first.'	59 وقال لآخر اتبعني. فقال يا سيد ائذن لي ان امضي اولا وادفن ابي.
60 But he answered, 'Leave the dead to bury their dead; your duty is to go and spread the news of thekingdom of God.'	60 فقال له يسوع دع الموتى يدفنون موتاهم واما انت فاذهب وناد بملكوت الله.
61 Another said, 'I wil fol ow you, sir, but first let me go and say good -- bye to my people at home.'	61 وقال آخر ايضا اتبعك يا سيد ولكن ائذن لي اولا ان اودع الذين في بيتي.
62 Jesus said to him, 'Once the hand is laid on the plough, no one who looks back is fit for the kingdom ofGod.'	62 فقال له يسوع ليس احد يضع يده على المحراث وينظر الى الوراء يصلح لملكوت الله
