Luke 18

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Then he told them a parable about the need to pray continual y and never lose heart.	1 Propose loro anche una parabola intorno al dovere di pregare sempre senza mai stancarsi, dicendo:
2 'There was a judge in a certain town,' he said, 'who had neither fear of God nor respect for anyone.	2 C'era in una citià un giudice che non temeva Dio, nè aveva rispetto ad alcuno.
3 In the same town there was also a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, "I want justice fromyou against my enemy!"	3 E c'era in quella una vedova che andava da lui a dirgli: Rendimi giustizia del mio avversario.
4 For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, "Even though I have neither fear of God norrespect for any human person,	4 E per molto tempo non volle, ma poi disse tra sè: Quantunque io non tema Dio, nè abbia riguardo agli uomini,
5 I must give this widow her just rights since she keeps pestering me, or she wil come and slap me in the face." '	5 pure, siccome questa vedova mi dà molestia, le farò giustizia, chè non venga finalmente a rompermi il capo.
6 And the Lord said, 'You notice what the unjust judge has to say?	6 Ascoltate, proseguì il Signore, quel che dice il giudice iniquo:
7 Now, will not God see justice done to his elect if they keep cal ing to him day and night even though hestill delays to help them?	7 Dio non farà giustizia ai suoi eletti che giorno e notte lo invocano, e sarà lento con essi?
8 I promise you, he wil see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of man comes,wil he find any faith on earth?'	8 Vi assicuro che presto renderà loro giustizia. Ma quando il Figlio dell'uomo verrà, credete che trovi della fede sulla terra?
9 He spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being upright and despisedeveryone else,	9 Disse pure questa parabola, per certuni, i quali confidavano in se stessi, come giusti e deprezzavano gli altri:
10 'Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax col ector.	10 Due uomini ascesero al tempio a pregare; uno era Fariseo, l'altro pubblicano.
11 The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself, "I thank you, God, that I am not grasping,unjust, adulterous like everyone else, and particularly that I am not like this tax col ector here.	11 Il Fariseo, stando in piedi, così dentro di sè pregava: O Dio, ti ringrazio di non essere io come gli altri: rapaci, ingiusti, adulteri, come anche questo pubblicano.
12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes on al I get."	12 Io digiuno due volte la settimana, pago le decime di quanto possiedo.
13 The tax collector stood some distance away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beathis breast and said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner."	13 Il pubblicano invece, stando da lungi, non ardiva nemmeno alzare gli occhi al cielo; ma si batteva il petto, dicendo: O Dio, abbi pietà di me peccatore.
14 This man, I tell you, went home again justified; the other did not. For everyone who raises himself upwil be humbled, but anyone who humbles himself wil be raised up.'	14 Vì assicuro che questi tornò a casa sua giustificato, a differenza dell'altro; perchè chi si esalta sarà umiliato, e chi si umilia sarà esaltato.
15 People even brought babies to him, for him to touch them; but when the disciples saw this theyscolded them.	15 E gli presentavano anche dei bambini, perchè li toccasse; il che vedendo i discepoli, li sgridavano.
16 But Jesus cal ed the children to him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stopthem; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	16 Ma Gesù, chiamatili a sè, disse: Lasciate che i fanciulli vengano a me, e non l'impedite; chè di essi è il regno di Dio.
17 In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enterit.'	17 In verità vi dico: chi non accoglie il regno di Dio come un fanciullo, non c'entrerà.
18 One of the rulers put this question to him, 'Good Master, what shal I do to inherit eternal life?'	18 E uno dei capi gii chiese: Maestro buono, che dovrò fare per ottenere la vita eterna?
19 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	19 E Gesù gli rispose: Perchè mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, fuorché Dio solo.
20 You know the commandments: You shal not commit adultery; You shal not kil ; You shall not steal;You shal not give false witness; Honour your father and your mother.'	20 Tu sai i comandamenti: Non ammazzare; non commettere adulterio; non rubare; non attestare il falso; onora tuo padre e la madre.
21 He replied, 'I have kept all these since my earliest days.'	21 E l'altro rispose: Tutto questo l'ho osservato fin dalla mia giovinezza.
22 And when Jesus heard this he said, 'There is stil one thing you lack. Sell everything you own anddistribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.'	22 E Gesù, udito questo, gli disse: Ti manca ancora una cosa: vendi quanto possiedi e dallo ai poveri, ed avrai un tesoro in cielo, quindi vieni e seguimi.
23 But when he heard this he was overcome with sadness, for he was very rich.	23 Ma quello, udite tali cose, ne fu rattristato, perchè era molto ricco.
24 Jesus looked at him and said, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to make their way into thekingdom of God!	24 E Gesù, vedendolo così triste, disse: Quanto difficilmente chi ha ricchezze entrerà nel regno di Dio!
25 Yes, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 Certamente è più facile che un cammello passi per una cruna d'ago che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio.
26 Those who were listening said, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 E quelli che ascoltavano dissero: E chi può salvarsi?
27 He replied, 'Things that are impossible by human resources, are possible for God.'	27 Rispose loro: Ciò che è impossibile agli uomini è possibile a Dio.
28 But Peter said, 'Look, we left al we had to follow you.'	28 E Pietro disse: Ecco, noi ab­biamo lasciato ogni cosa per se­guirti.
29 He said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there is no one who has left house, wife, brothers, parents orchildren for the sake of the kingdom of God	29 Ed egli rispose loro: Vi dico in verità che nessuno ha la­sciato la casa, o genitori, o fratelli, o moglie, o figlioli per il regno di Dio,
30 who will not receive many times as much in this present age and, in the world to come, eternal life.'	30 senza ricevere molto più in questo tempo e la vita eterna nel secolo futuro.
31 Then taking the Twelve aside he said to them, 'Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everythingthat is written by the prophets about the Son of man is to come true.	31 E Gesù, presi in disparte i dodici, disse loro: Ecco, noi ascendiamo a Gerusalemme e si adempiranno tutte le cose predette dai profeti riguardo al Figlio dell'uomo;
32 For he wil be handed over to the gentiles and wil be mocked, maltreated and spat on,	32 egli sarà dato nelle mani dei gentili, sarà schernito e flagellato e coperto di sputi.
33 and when they have scourged him they will put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.'	33 E dopo averlo flagellato, lo uccideranno; ma risorgerà il terzo giorno.
34 But they could make nothing of this; what he said was quite obscure to them, they did not understandwhat he was tel ing them.	34 E quelli nulla compresero di tutte quelle cose, ed il senso di esse era loro nascosto e non afferravano quanto veniva loro detto.
35 Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho there was a blind man sitting at the side of the roadbegging.	35 Or avvenne, che mentre egli si avvicinava a Gerico, un cieco stava seduto lungo la strada a mendicare;
36 When he heard the crowd going past he asked what it was all about,	36 e sentendo passare la folla, domandò che cosa mai fosse.
37 and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.	37 Gli dissero che passava Gesù Nazareno.
38 So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.'	38 Allora egli gridò: Gesù Figlio di David, abbi pietà di me.
39 The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	39 E quelli che precedevano gli gridavano di tacere. Ma lui a gridar più forte che mai: Figlio di David, abbi pietà di me.
40 Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him,	40 Allora Gesù, fermatosi, comandò che gli fosse menato. E quando gli fu vicino, gli domandò:
41 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.'	41 Che vuoi ch'io ti faccia? E quello: Signore, esclamò, che ci veda.
42 Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.'	42 E Gesù gli disse; Guarda, la tua fede ti ha salvato.
43 And instantly his sight returned and he fol owed him praising God, and al the people who saw it gavepraise to God.	43 E sub­bito ci vide e gli andava dietro ­glorificando Dio. E tutto il popolo, visto ciò, diede lode a Dio. ­
