Luke 18

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Then he told them a parable about the need to pray continual y and never lose heart.	1 - Propose poi loro anche questa parabola per mostrare che bisogna pregar sempre senza stancarsi mai:
2 'There was a judge in a certain town,' he said, 'who had neither fear of God nor respect for anyone.	2 «C'era in una città un giudice che non temeva Iddio, nè aveva rispetto ad alcuno.
3 In the same town there was also a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, "I want justice fromyou against my enemy!"	3 C'era pure in quella città una vedova, la quale andò da lui a dirgli: - Rendimi giustizia del mio avversario. -
4 For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, "Even though I have neither fear of God norrespect for any human person,	4 E per molto tempo colui non volle farlo, ma poi disse tra sè: Benchè io non tema Iddio e non abbia rispetto ad alcuno,
5 I must give this widow her just rights since she keeps pestering me, or she wil come and slap me in the face." '	5 tuttavia, siccome questa vedova mi dà molestia le farò giustizia in modo ch'essa non continui a venire a tormentarmi ».
6 And the Lord said, 'You notice what the unjust judge has to say?	6 E il Signore proseguì: «Ascoltate quel che dice il giudice iniquo.
7 Now, will not God see justice done to his elect if they keep cal ing to him day and night even though hestill delays to help them?	7 E Dio non farà giustizia a' suoi eletti, i quali lo invocano giorno e notte e sarà lento a loro riguardo?
8 I promise you, he wil see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of man comes,wil he find any faith on earth?'	8 Io vi dico che egli prontamente renderà loro giustizia. Ma quando il Figliuol dell'uomo verrà, troverà ancora fede sulla terra?».
9 He spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being upright and despisedeveryone else,	9 Disse ancora questa parabola per alcuni che dentro di sè confidavano d'esser giusti e disprezzavano gli altri:
10 'Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax col ector.	10 «Due uomini salirono al tempio a pregare; l'uno era Fariseo e l'altro pubblicano.
11 The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself, "I thank you, God, that I am not grasping,unjust, adulterous like everyone else, and particularly that I am not like this tax col ector here.	11 Il Fariseo, ritto in piedi, pregava dentro di sè, così: - Ti ringrazio, o Dio, perchè io non sono come gli altri uomini, rapaci, ingiusti, adulteri; e nemmeno come quel pubblicano.
12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes on al I get."	12 Io digiuno due volte la settimana; pago le decime su tutto ciò che posseggo. -
13 The tax collector stood some distance away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beathis breast and said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner."	13 Il pubblicano, invece, stando da lontano, non ardiva neppure alzar gli occhi al cielo; ma si batteva il petto, dicendo: - O Dio, abbi pietà di me, che son peccatore! -
14 This man, I tell you, went home again justified; the other did not. For everyone who raises himself upwil be humbled, but anyone who humbles himself wil be raised up.'	14 Io vi dico che questi tornò a casa sua giustificato, a differenza dell'altro: perchè chiunque si esalta sarà umiliato, e chi si umilia sarà esaltato».
15 People even brought babies to him, for him to touch them; but when the disciples saw this theyscolded them.	15 Gli presentarono pure dei bambini, perchè li toccasse. Ma i discepoli, vedendo ciò, sgridavano quelli che glieli presentavano.
16 But Jesus cal ed the children to him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stopthem; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	16 Gesù, però, chiamati a sè i bambini, disse: «Lasciate che i bambini vengano a me e non impediteglielo, perchè il regno di Dio è proprio di costoro.
17 In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enterit.'	17 Io vi dico in verità che chiunque non accoglie il regno di Dio, con l'animo di un fanciullo, non entrerà in esso».
18 One of the rulers put this question to him, 'Good Master, what shal I do to inherit eternal life?'	18 Uno dei capi lo interrogò, dicendo: «Maestro buono, che devo fare per ottenere la vita eterna?».
19 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	19 Gesù gli rispose: «Perchè mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono se non il solo Dio.
20 You know the commandments: You shal not commit adultery; You shal not kil ; You shall not steal;You shal not give false witness; Honour your father and your mother.'	20 Tu conosci i comandamenti: Non uccidere; non commettere adulterio; non rubare; non attestare il falso; onora il padre e la madre ».
21 He replied, 'I have kept all these since my earliest days.'	21 L'altro osservò: «Tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia giovinezza».
22 And when Jesus heard this he said, 'There is stil one thing you lack. Sell everything you own anddistribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.'	22 Udita questa risposta, Gesù gli soggiunse: «Ti manca ancora una cosa: vendi tutto ciò che hai e dallo ai poveri e avrai un tesoro nel cielo; poi, vieni e seguimi».
23 But when he heard this he was overcome with sadness, for he was very rich.	23 Ma egli, sentite tali parole, si rattristò, perchè era molto ricco.
24 Jesus looked at him and said, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to make their way into thekingdom of God!	24 Gesù, vedendolo tanto triste, gli disse: «Quanto è difficile per coloro che posseggono ricchezze l'entrare nel regno di Dio!
25 Yes, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 È più facile, infatti, che un cammello passi per la cruna di un ago, che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio».
26 Those who were listening said, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 Quelli che udirono ciò, domandarono: «Allora chi mai può salvarsi?».
27 He replied, 'Things that are impossible by human resources, are possible for God.'	27 Rispose: «Quello che è impossibile agli uomini, è possibile a Dio».
28 But Peter said, 'Look, we left al we had to follow you.'	28 Pietro gli disse: «Ecco, noi abbiamo lasciato ogni cosa e ti abbiam seguìto».
29 He said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there is no one who has left house, wife, brothers, parents orchildren for the sake of the kingdom of God	29 Egli rispose loro: «In verità vi dico che nessuno ha lasciato casa, o genitori, o fratelli, o moglie, o figliuoli per amore del regno di Dio,
30 who will not receive many times as much in this present age and, in the world to come, eternal life.'	30 senza ricevere molto di più in questa vita, e, nel secolo avvenire, la vita eterna».
31 Then taking the Twelve aside he said to them, 'Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everythingthat is written by the prophets about the Son of man is to come true.	31 Poi, presi in disparte i Dodici, disse loro: «Ecco, noi saliamo a Gerusalemme, e si adempirà tutto quanto fu scritto dai profeti intorno al Figliuol dell'uomo.
32 For he wil be handed over to the gentiles and wil be mocked, maltreated and spat on,	32 Egli sarà dato nelle mani dei Gentili e sarà schernito, flagellato e coperto di sputi;
33 and when they have scourged him they will put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.'	33 e dopo averlo flagellato, l'uccideranno; ma il terzo giorno risorgerà».
34 But they could make nothing of this; what he said was quite obscure to them, they did not understandwhat he was tel ing them.	34 Di queste cose essi non compresero nulla; troppo oscuro era per loro quel discorso, e non intendevano le cose dette a loro.
35 Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho there was a blind man sitting at the side of the roadbegging.	35 Mentre Gesù si avviava a Gerico, un cieco, che sedeva sulla strada a mendicare,
36 When he heard the crowd going past he asked what it was all about,	36 avendo sentito la folla che passava, domandò cosa fosse.
37 and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.	37 Gli dissero che passava Gesù Nazareno.
38 So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.'	38 Allora ad alta voce esclamò: «Gesù, Figliuol di David, abbi pietà di me!».
39 The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	39 E quelli che precedevano lo sgridavano perchè tacesse; ma quello gridava molto più forte: «Figliuol di David, abbi pietà di me!».
40 Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him,	40 Gesù, fermatosi, comandò che glielo conducessero davanti; quando gli fu vicino, gli domandò:
41 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.'	41 «Che vuoi che io ti faccia?». Ed egli: «Signore, che ci veda!».
42 Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.'	42 Gesù replicò: «Vedi, la tua fede ti ha salvato».
43 And instantly his sight returned and he fol owed him praising God, and al the people who saw it gavepraise to God.	43 E subito vide; ed egli lo seguiva glorificando Dio. E tutto il popolo, veduto ciò, diede lode al Signore.
