Luke 18

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Then he told them a parable about the need to pray continual y and never lose heart.	1 Raccontò loro una parabola per mostrare che dovevano pregare sempre, senza stancarsi mai.
2 'There was a judge in a certain town,' he said, 'who had neither fear of God nor respect for anyone.	2 "In una città viveva un giudice che non temeva Dio e non si curava di nessuno.
3 In the same town there was also a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, "I want justice fromyou against my enemy!"	3 Nella stessa città viveva una vedova, che andava da lui e gli chiedeva: "Fammi giustizia contro il mio avversario".
4 For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, "Even though I have neither fear of God norrespect for any human person,	4 Per un po' di tempo il giudice non volle, ma alla fine disse tra sé: "Anche se non temo Dio e non mi prendo cura degli uomini,
5 I must give this widow her just rights since she keeps pestering me, or she wil come and slap me in the face." '	5 tuttavia le farò giustizia e così non verrà continuamente a seccarmi".
6 And the Lord said, 'You notice what the unjust judge has to say?	6 E il Signore soggiunse: "Avete udito ciò che dice il giudice ingiusto?
7 Now, will not God see justice done to his elect if they keep cal ing to him day and night even though hestill delays to help them?	7 E Dio non farà giustizia ai suoi eletti che lo invocano giorno e notte? Tarderà ad aiutarli?
8 I promise you, he wil see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of man comes,wil he find any faith on earth?'	8 Vi dico che farà loro giustizia prontamente. Ma il Figlio dell'uomo, quando verrà, troverà la fede sulla terra?".
9 He spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being upright and despisedeveryone else,	9 Disse poi un'altra parabola per alcuni che erano persuasi di essere giusti e disprezzavano gli altri:
10 'Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax col ector.	10 "Due uomini salirono al tempio per pregare: uno era fariseo e l'altro pubblicano.
11 The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself, "I thank you, God, that I am not grasping,unjust, adulterous like everyone else, and particularly that I am not like this tax col ector here.	11 Il fariseo se ne stava in piedi e pregava così tra sé: "O Dio, ti ringrazio perché non sono come gli altri uomini, rapaci, ingiusti, adùlteri, e neppure come questo pubblicano.
12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes on al I get."	12 Io digiuno due volte alla settimana e offro la decima parte di quello che possiedo".
13 The tax collector stood some distance away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beathis breast and said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner."	13 Il pubblicano invece si fermò a distanza e non osava neppure alzare lo sguardo al cielo, ma si batteva il petto dicendo: "O Dio, sii benigno con me, peccatore".
14 This man, I tell you, went home again justified; the other did not. For everyone who raises himself upwil be humbled, but anyone who humbles himself wil be raised up.'	14 Vi dico che questi tornò a casa giustificato, l'altro invece no, perché chi si esalta sarà umiliato e chi si umilia sarà esaltato".
15 People even brought babies to him, for him to touch them; but when the disciples saw this theyscolded them.	15 Gli presentavano anche dei bimbi perché li toccasse, ma i discepoli, vedendo questo, li sgridavano.
16 But Jesus cal ed the children to him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stopthem; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	16 Allora Gesù li chiamò vicino a sé e disse: "Lasciate che i fanciulli vengano a me e non glielo impedite, perché il regno di Dio è di quelli che sono simili a loro.
17 In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enterit.'	17 In verità vi dico: chi non accoglie il regno di Dio come un fanciullo, non vi entrerà".
18 One of the rulers put this question to him, 'Good Master, what shal I do to inherit eternal life?'	18 E un capo lo interrogò: "Maestro buono, che cosa devo fare per ottenere la vita eterna?".
19 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	19 Gesù gli rispose: "Perché mi dici buono? Nessuno è buono, tranne Dio.
20 You know the commandments: You shal not commit adultery; You shal not kil ; You shall not steal;You shal not give false witness; Honour your father and your mother.'	20 Conosci i comandamenti: Non commettere adulterio, non uccidere, non rubare, non dire il falso, ama tuo padre e tua madre".
21 He replied, 'I have kept all these since my earliest days.'	21 Quell'uomo disse: "Tutto questo l'ho osservato fin dalla mia giovinezza".
22 And when Jesus heard this he said, 'There is stil one thing you lack. Sell everything you own anddistribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.'	22 Udito ciò, Gesù gli disse: "Ti manca ancora una cosa: vendi tutto quello che hai e dàllo ai poveri, così avrai un tesoro nei cieli; poi vieni e seguimi".
23 But when he heard this he was overcome with sadness, for he was very rich.	23 Ma quello, udite queste parole, diventò molto triste. Era infatti molto ricco.
24 Jesus looked at him and said, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to make their way into thekingdom of God!	24 Gesù, notando la sua tristezza, disse: "Come è difficile per coloro che sono ricchi entrare nel regno di Dio.
25 Yes, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 E' più facile che un cammello passi attraverso la cruna di un ago, piuttosto che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio".
26 Those who were listening said, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 Quelli che ascoltavano domandarono: "Ma allora chi può salvarsi?".
27 He replied, 'Things that are impossible by human resources, are possible for God.'	27 Egli rispose: "Ciò che è impossibile agli uomini, è possibile a Dio".
28 But Peter said, 'Look, we left al we had to follow you.'	28 Pietro allora disse: "Vedi, noi abbiamo lasciato le nostre cose e ti abbiamo seguito".
29 He said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there is no one who has left house, wife, brothers, parents orchildren for the sake of the kingdom of God	29 Gesù rispose loro: "In verità vi dico: non c'è nessuno che abbia lasciato casa, moglie, fratelli, genitori e figli per il regno di Dio,
30 who will not receive many times as much in this present age and, in the world to come, eternal life.'	30 che non riceva molto di più in questo tempo e nel secolo avvenire la vita eterna".
31 Then taking the Twelve aside he said to them, 'Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everythingthat is written by the prophets about the Son of man is to come true.	31 Poi prese con sé i Dodici e disse loro: "Ecco che saliamo a Gerusalemme e si compirà tutto quello che è stato scritto dai profeti circa il Figlio dell'uomo.
32 For he wil be handed over to the gentiles and wil be mocked, maltreated and spat on,	32 Sarà consegnato ai pagani, sarà insultato, coperto di offese e di sputi;
33 and when they have scourged him they will put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.'	33 e, dopo averlo flagellato, lo uccideranno. Ma il terzo giorno risusciterà".
34 But they could make nothing of this; what he said was quite obscure to them, they did not understandwhat he was tel ing them.	34 Ma essi non capirono nulla di tutto questo: il significato di quel discorso rimase per loro oscuro e non riuscivano affatto a capire.
35 Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho there was a blind man sitting at the side of the roadbegging.	35 Mentre si stava avvicinando a Gerico, un cieco era seduto sul bordo della strada e chiedeva l'elemosina.
36 When he heard the crowd going past he asked what it was all about,	36 Sentendo passare la folla, domandò che cosa accadesse.
37 and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.	37 Gli risposero: "E' Gesù di Nazaret che passa!".
38 So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.'	38 Allora si mise a gridare: "Gesù, figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!".
39 The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	39 Quelli che camminavano davanti lo sgridavano per farlo tacere. Ma il cieco gridava ancor più forte: "Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!".
40 Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him,	40 Gesù allora si fermò e ordinò che gli portassero il cieco. Quando fu vicino, gli domandò:
41 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.'	41 "Che cosa vuoi che faccia per te?". Egli rispose: "Signore, che io ci veda".
42 Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.'	42 E Gesù gli disse: "Vedi! La tua fede ti ha salvato".
43 And instantly his sight returned and he fol owed him praising God, and al the people who saw it gavepraise to God.	43 Subito ci vide di nuovo e si mise a seguirlo, ringraziando Dio. Anche la gente che era presente, alla vista del fatto, si mise a lodare Dio.
