Mark 8

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 And now once again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat. So he cal ed hisdisciples to him and said to them,	1 In quei giorni, essendosi di nuovo radunata una grande folla e non avendo di che mangiare, Gesù chiamò a sé i discepoli e disse loro:
2 'I feel sorry for al these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat.	2 "Ho pietà di questa folla, perché sono già tre giorni che stanno con me e non hanno di che mangiare.
3 If I send them off home hungry they wil col apse on the way; some have come a great distance.'	3 Se li rimando digiuni a casa loro, verranno meno per strada. Alcuni di loro, infatti, sono venuti da lontano".
4 His disciples replied, 'Where could anyone get these people enough bread to eat in a deserted place?'	4 Gli risposero i discepoli: "Come si potrebbe saziare di pane costoro, qui nel deserto?".
5 He asked them, 'How many loaves have you?' And they said to him, 'Seven.'	5 Domandò loro: "Quanti pani avete?". Risposero: "Sette".
6 Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves, and after givingthanks he broke them and began handing them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them amongthe crowd.	6 Allora egli comandò alla folla di sedersi per terra. Quindi, presi i sette pani, rese grazie, li spezzò e li diede ai suoi discepoli, affinché li distribuissero; ed essi li distribuirono alla folla.
7 They had a few smal fishes as wel , and over these he said a blessing and ordered them to bedistributed too.	7 Avevano anche alcuni pesciolini; ed egli, avendoli benedetti, comandò che pure questi fossero distribuiti.
8 They ate as much as they wanted, and they col ected seven basketfuls of the scraps left over.	8 Mangiarono a sazietà e si raccolsero sette sporte di frammenti avanzati.
9 Now there had been about four thousand people. He sent them away	9 Erano circa quattromila. Egli li congedò
10 and at once, getting into the boat with his disciples, went to the region of Dalmanutha.	10 e subito, montato in barca con i suoi discepoli, se ne andò nelle parti di Dalmanùta.
11 The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with him; they demanded of him a sign from heaven,to put him to the test.	11 Allora si fecero avanti i farisei e incominciarono a discutere con lui, chiedendogli un segno dal cielo per metterlo alla prova.
12 And with a profound sigh he said, 'Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tel you, no signshall be given to this generation.'	12 Egli, però, emettendo un profondo sospiro, disse: "Perché questa generazione chiede un segno? In verità vi dico che mai sarà concesso un segno a questa generazione".
13 And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.	13 Quindi, lasciatili, montò di nuovo in barca e se ne andò verso l'altra riva.
14 The disciples had forgotten to take any bread and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.	14 Dimenticatisi di prendere dei pani, i discepoli non avevano con sé nella barca che un solo pane.
15 Then he gave them this warning, 'Keep your eyes open; look out for the yeast of the Pharisees andthe yeast of Herod.'	15 Ora egli stava dando loro questo precetto: "Fate attenzione! Guardatevi dal lievito dei farisei e dal lievito di Erode!".
16 And they said to one another, 'It is because we have no bread.'	16 Ma essi dicevano tra loro: "Non abbiamo pani".
17 And Jesus knew it, and he said to them, 'Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you stil notunderstand, stil not realise? Are your minds closed?	17 Ma Gesù, accortosene, dice loro: "Perché discutete per il fatto che non avete pani? Ancora non capite e non comprendete? Avete il cuore indurito?
18 Have you eyes and do not see, ears and do not hear? Or do you not remember?	18 Avete occhi e non vedete, avete orecchi e non udite? Non ricordate?
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of scraps did you col ect?'They answered, 'Twelve.'	19 Quando spezzai cinque pani per i cinquemila, quante ceste piene di frammenti portaste via?". Gli dicono: "Dodici".
20 'And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets ful of scraps did youcol ect?' And they answered, 'Seven.'	20 "E quando ne spezzai sette per i quattromila, quante sporte piene di frammenti portaste via?". Gli dicono: "Sette".
21 Then he said to them, 'Do you still not realise?'	21 Diceva loro: "Ancora non comprendete?".
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought to him a blind man whom they begged him totouch.	22 Giungono a Betsàida e gli portano un cieco, supplicandolo di toccarlo.
23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the vil age. Then, putting spittle on his eyesand laying his hands on him, he asked, 'Can you see anything?'	23 Egli, allora, preso il cieco per la mano, lo condusse fuori del villaggio, gli mise della saliva sugli occhi e, impostegli le mani, gli domandò: "Vedi qualcosa?".
24 The man, who was beginning to see, replied, 'I can see people; they look like trees as they walkaround.'	24 E quello, alzati gli occhi, rispose: "Vedo degli uomini e li scorgo camminare come alberi".
25 Then he laid his hands on the man's eyes again and he saw clearly; he was cured, and he could seeeverything plainly and distinctly.	25 Allora gli pose nuovamente le mani sugli occhi e quello ci vide perfettamente e fu risanato, sicché vedeva ogni cosa nettamente anche da lontano.
26 And Jesus sent him home, saying, 'Do not even go into the vil age.'	26 Quindi lo rimandò a casa sua dicendogli: "Non entrare nel villaggio".
27 Jesus and his disciples left for the vil ages round Caesarea Philippi. On the way he put this question tohis disciples, 'Who do people say I am?'	27 Con i suoi discepoli Gesù se ne andò verso i villaggi di Cesarea di Filippo e durante il viaggio incominciò a interrogare i discepoli dicendo: "Chi dice la gente che io sia?".
28 And they told him, 'John the Baptist, others Elijah, others again, one of the prophets.'	28 Gli risposero: "Alcuni dicono Giovanni il Battista, altri Elia e altri ancora uno dei profeti".
29 'But you,' he asked them, 'who do you say I am?' Peter spoke up and said to him, 'You are the Christ.'	29 Allora domandò loro: "Voi, invece, chi dite che io sia?". Rispose Pietro: "Tu sei il Cristo!".
30 And he gave them strict orders not to tell anyone about him.	30 Ma egli intimò loro di non parlare di lui a nessuno.
31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of man was destined to suffer grievously, and to berejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be put to death, and after three days to riseagain;	31 Quindi egli incominciò ad ammaestrarli: "E' necessario che il Figlio dell'uomo soffra molto, che sia riprovato dagli anziani, dai capi dei sacerdoti e dagli scribi, sia ucciso e dopo tre giorni risorga".
32 and he said all this quite openly. Then, taking him aside, Peter tried to rebuke him.	32 Faceva questo discorso apertamente e perciò Pietro, presolo in disparte, si mise a rimproverarlo.
33 But, turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said to him, 'Get behind me, Satan! Youare thinking not as God thinks, but as human beings do.'	33 Egli, però, voltatosi e guardando i suoi discepoli, rimproverò Pietro dicendogli: "Vattene lontano da me, satana, poiché tu non hai sentimenti secondo Dio, ma secondo gli uomini".
34 He called the people and his disciples to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be a fol ower of mine, lethim renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me.	34 Poi, chiamata a sé la folla insieme ai suoi discepoli, disse loro: "Se qualcuno vuol venire dietro di me, rinneghi se stesso, prenda la sua croce e mi segua.
35 Anyone who wants to save his life wil lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for thesake of the gospel, wil save it.	35 Chi, infatti, vorrà salvare la sua vita, la perderà; chi, invece, perderà la sua vita per causa mia e del vangelo, la salverà.
36 What gain, then, is it for anyone to win the whole world and forfeit his life?	36 Infatti, che cosa giova all'uomo guadagnare il mondo intero, se perde la propria vita?
37 And indeed what can anyone offer in exchange for his life?	37 Poiché, cosa potrebbe dare l'uomo in cambio della propria vita?
38 For if anyone in this sinful and adulterous generation is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son ofman wil also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.'	38 Chi si sarà vergognato di me e delle mie parole in mezzo a questa generazione adultera e peccatrice, anche il Figlio dell'uomo si vergognerà di lui, quando verrà nella gloria del Padre suo insieme agli angeli santi".
