NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 And now once again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat. So he cal ed hisdisciples to him and said to them,	1 Por aquellos días, habiendo de nuevo mucha gente y no teniendo qué comer, llama Jesús a sus discípulos y les dice:
2 'I feel sorry for al these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat.	2 «Siento compasión de esta gente, porque hace ya tres días que permanecen conmigo y no tienen qué comer.
3 If I send them off home hungry they wil col apse on the way; some have come a great distance.'	3 Si los despido en ayunas a sus casas, desfallecerán en el camino, y algunos de ellos han venido de lejos».
4 His disciples replied, 'Where could anyone get these people enough bread to eat in a deserted place?'	4 Sus discípulos le respondieron: «¿Cómo podrá alguien saciar de pan a éstos aquí en el desierto?»
5 He asked them, 'How many loaves have you?' And they said to him, 'Seven.'	5 El les preguntaba: «¿Cuántos panes tenéis?» Ellos le respondieron: «Siete».
6 Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves, and after givingthanks he broke them and began handing them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them amongthe crowd.	6 Entonces él mandó a la gente acomodarse sobre la tierra y, tomando los siete panes y dando gracias, los partió e iba dándolos a sus discípulos para que los sirvieran, y ellos los sirvieron a la gente.
7 They had a few smal fishes as wel , and over these he said a blessing and ordered them to bedistributed too.	7 Tenían también unos pocos pececillos. Y, pronunciando la bendición sobre ellos, mandó que también los sirvieran.
8 They ate as much as they wanted, and they col ected seven basketfuls of the scraps left over.	8 Comieron y se saciaron, y recogieron de los trozos sobrantes siete espuertas.
9 Now there had been about four thousand people. He sent them away	9 Fueron unos 4.000; y Jesús los despidió.
10 and at once, getting into the boat with his disciples, went to the region of Dalmanutha.	10 Subió a continuación a la barca con sus discípulos y se fue a la región de Dalmanutá.
11 The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with him; they demanded of him a sign from heaven,to put him to the test.	11 Y salieron los fariseos y comenzaron a discutir con él, pidiéndole una señal del cielo, con el fin de ponerle a prueba.
12 And with a profound sigh he said, 'Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tel you, no signshall be given to this generation.'	12 Dando un profundo gemido desde lo íntimo de su ser, dice: «¿Por qué esta generación pide una señal? Yo os aseguro: no se dará, a esta generación ninguna señal».
13 And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.	13 Y, dejándolos, se embarcó de nuevo, y se fue a la orilla opuesta.
14 The disciples had forgotten to take any bread and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.	14 Se habían olvidado de tomar panes, y no llevaban consigo en la barca más que un pan.
15 Then he gave them this warning, 'Keep your eyes open; look out for the yeast of the Pharisees andthe yeast of Herod.'	15 El les hacía esta advertencia: «Abrid los ojos y guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y de la levadura de Herodes».
16 And they said to one another, 'It is because we have no bread.'	16 Ellos hablaban entre sí que no tenían panes.
17 And Jesus knew it, and he said to them, 'Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you stil notunderstand, stil not realise? Are your minds closed?	17 Dándose cuenta, les dice: «¿Por qué estáis hablando de que no tenéis panes? ¿Aún no comprendéis ni entendéis? ¿Es que tenéis la mente embotada?
18 Have you eyes and do not see, ears and do not hear? Or do you not remember?	18 ¿Teniendo ojos no véis y teniendo oídos no oís? ¿No os acordáis de
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of scraps did you col ect?'They answered, 'Twelve.'	19 cuando partí los cinco panes para los 5.000? ¿Cuántos canastos llenos de trozos recogisteis?» «Doce», le dicen.
20 'And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets ful of scraps did youcol ect?' And they answered, 'Seven.'	20 «Y cuando partí los siete entre los 4.000, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de trozos recogisteis?» Le dicen: «Siete».
21 Then he said to them, 'Do you still not realise?'	21 Y continuó: «¿Aún no entendéis?»
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought to him a blind man whom they begged him totouch.	22 Llegan a Betsaida. Le presentan un ciego y le suplican que le toque.
23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the vil age. Then, putting spittle on his eyesand laying his hands on him, he asked, 'Can you see anything?'	23 Tomando al ciego de la mano, le sacó fuera del pueblo, y habiéndole puesto saliva en los ojos, le impuso las manos y le preguntaba: «¿Ves algo?»
24 The man, who was beginning to see, replied, 'I can see people; they look like trees as they walkaround.'	24 El, alzando la vista, dijo: «Veo a los hombres, pues los veo como árboles, pero que andan».
25 Then he laid his hands on the man's eyes again and he saw clearly; he was cured, and he could seeeverything plainly and distinctly.	25 Después, le volvió a poner las manos en los ojos y comenzó a ver perfectamente y quedó curado, de suerte que veía de lejos claramente todas las cosas.
26 And Jesus sent him home, saying, 'Do not even go into the vil age.'	26 Y le envió a su casa, diciéndole: «Ni siquiera entres en el pueblo».
27 Jesus and his disciples left for the vil ages round Caesarea Philippi. On the way he put this question tohis disciples, 'Who do people say I am?'	27 Salió Jesús con sus discípulos hacia los pueblos de Cesarea de Filipo, y por el camino hizo esta pregunta a sus discípulos: «¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?»
28 And they told him, 'John the Baptist, others Elijah, others again, one of the prophets.'	28 Ellos le dijeron: «Unos, que Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que uno de los profetas».
29 'But you,' he asked them, 'who do you say I am?' Peter spoke up and said to him, 'You are the Christ.'	29 Y él les preguntaba: «Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo?» Pedro le contesta: «Tú eres el Cristo».
30 And he gave them strict orders not to tell anyone about him.	30 Y les mandó enérgicamente que a nadie hablaran acerca de él.
31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of man was destined to suffer grievously, and to berejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be put to death, and after three days to riseagain;	31 Y comenzó a enseñarles que el Hijo del hombre debía sufrir mucho y ser reprobado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, ser matado y resucitar a los tres días.
32 and he said all this quite openly. Then, taking him aside, Peter tried to rebuke him.	32 Hablaba de esto abiertamente. Tomándole aparte, Pedro, se puso a reprenderle.
33 But, turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said to him, 'Get behind me, Satan! Youare thinking not as God thinks, but as human beings do.'	33 Pero él, volviéndose y mirando a sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro, diciéndole: «¡Quítate de mi vista, Satanás! porque tus pensamientos no son los de Dios, sino los de los hombres».
34 He called the people and his disciples to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be a fol ower of mine, lethim renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me.	34 Llamando a la gente a la vez que a sus discípulos, les dijo: «Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
35 Anyone who wants to save his life wil lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for thesake of the gospel, wil save it.	35 Porque quien quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero quien pierda su vida por mí y por el Evangelio, la salvará.
36 What gain, then, is it for anyone to win the whole world and forfeit his life?	36 Pues ¿de qué le sirve al hombre ganar el mundo entero si arruina su vida?
37 And indeed what can anyone offer in exchange for his life?	37 Pues ¿qué puede dar el hombre a cambio de su vida?
38 For if anyone in this sinful and adulterous generation is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son ofman wil also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.'	38 Porque quien se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adúltera y pecadora, también el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles».
