Mark 8

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 And now once again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat. So he cal ed hisdisciples to him and said to them,	1 In quei giorni, poiché vi era di nuovo molta folla e non avevano da mangiare, chiamò a sé i discepoli e disse loro:
2 'I feel sorry for al these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat.	2 «Sento compassione per la folla; ormai da tre giorni stanno con me e non hanno da mangiare.
3 If I send them off home hungry they wil col apse on the way; some have come a great distance.'	3 Se li rimando digiuni alle loro case, verranno meno lungo il cammino; e alcuni di loro sono venuti da lontano».
4 His disciples replied, 'Where could anyone get these people enough bread to eat in a deserted place?'	4 Gli risposero i suoi discepoli: «Come riuscire a sfamarli di pane qui, in un deserto?».
5 He asked them, 'How many loaves have you?' And they said to him, 'Seven.'	5 Domandò loro: «Quanti pani avete?». Dissero: «Sette».
6 Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves, and after givingthanks he broke them and began handing them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them amongthe crowd.	6 Ordinò alla folla di sedersi per terra. Prese i sette pani, rese grazie, li spezzò e li dava ai suoi discepoli perché li distribuissero; ed essi li distribuirono alla folla.
7 They had a few smal fishes as wel , and over these he said a blessing and ordered them to bedistributed too.	7 Avevano anche pochi pesciolini; recitò la benedizione su di essi e fece distribuire anche quelli.
8 They ate as much as they wanted, and they col ected seven basketfuls of the scraps left over.	8 Mangiarono a sazietà e portarono via i pezzi avanzati: sette sporte.
9 Now there had been about four thousand people. He sent them away	9 Erano circa quattromila. E li congedò.
10 and at once, getting into the boat with his disciples, went to the region of Dalmanutha.	10 Poi salì sulla barca con i suoi discepoli e subito andò dalle parti di Dalmanutà.
11 The Pharisees came up and started a discussion with him; they demanded of him a sign from heaven,to put him to the test.	11 Vennero i farisei e si misero a discutere con lui, chiedendogli un segno dal cielo, per metterlo alla prova.
12 And with a profound sigh he said, 'Why does this generation demand a sign? In truth I tel you, no signshall be given to this generation.'	12 Ma egli sospirò profondamente e disse: «Perché questa generazione chiede un segno? In verità io vi dico: a questa generazione non sarà dato alcun segno».
13 And, leaving them again, he re-embarked and went away to the other side.	13 Li lasciò, risalì sulla barca e partì per l’altra riva.
14 The disciples had forgotten to take any bread and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.	14 Avevano dimenticato di prendere dei pani e non avevano con sé sulla barca che un solo pane.
15 Then he gave them this warning, 'Keep your eyes open; look out for the yeast of the Pharisees andthe yeast of Herod.'	15 Allora egli li ammoniva dicendo: «Fate attenzione, guardatevi dal lievito dei farisei e dal lievito di Erode!».
16 And they said to one another, 'It is because we have no bread.'	16 Ma quelli discutevano fra loro perché non avevano pane.
17 And Jesus knew it, and he said to them, 'Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you stil notunderstand, stil not realise? Are your minds closed?	17 Si accorse di questo e disse loro: «Perché discutete che non avete pane? Non capite ancora e non comprendete? Avete il cuore indurito?
18 Have you eyes and do not see, ears and do not hear? Or do you not remember?	18 Avete occhi e non vedete, avete orecchi e non udite? E non vi ricordate,
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of scraps did you col ect?'They answered, 'Twelve.'	19 quando ho spezzato i cinque pani per i cinquemila, quante ceste colme di pezzi avete portato via?». Gli dissero: «Dodici».
20 'And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets ful of scraps did youcol ect?' And they answered, 'Seven.'	20 «E quando ho spezzato i sette pani per i quattromila, quante sporte piene di pezzi avete portato via?». Gli dissero: «Sette».
21 Then he said to them, 'Do you still not realise?'	21 E disse loro: «Non comprendete ancora?».
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought to him a blind man whom they begged him totouch.	22 Giunsero a Betsàida, e gli condussero un cieco, pregandolo di toccarlo.
23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the vil age. Then, putting spittle on his eyesand laying his hands on him, he asked, 'Can you see anything?'	23 Allora prese il cieco per mano, lo condusse fuori dal villaggio e, dopo avergli messo della saliva sugli occhi, gli impose le mani e gli chiese: «Vedi qualcosa?».
24 The man, who was beginning to see, replied, 'I can see people; they look like trees as they walkaround.'	24 Quello, alzando gli occhi, diceva: «Vedo la gente, perché vedo come degli alberi che camminano».
25 Then he laid his hands on the man's eyes again and he saw clearly; he was cured, and he could seeeverything plainly and distinctly.	25 Allora gli impose di nuovo le mani sugli occhi ed egli ci vide chiaramente, fu guarito e da lontano vedeva distintamente ogni cosa.
26 And Jesus sent him home, saying, 'Do not even go into the vil age.'	26 E lo rimandò a casa sua dicendo: «Non entrare nemmeno nel villaggio».
27 Jesus and his disciples left for the vil ages round Caesarea Philippi. On the way he put this question tohis disciples, 'Who do people say I am?'	27 Poi Gesù partì con i suoi discepoli verso i villaggi intorno a Cesarèa di Filippo, e per la strada interrogava i suoi discepoli dicendo: «La gente, chi dice che io sia?».
28 And they told him, 'John the Baptist, others Elijah, others again, one of the prophets.'	28 Ed essi gli risposero: «Giovanni il Battista; altri dicono Elia e altri uno dei profeti».
29 'But you,' he asked them, 'who do you say I am?' Peter spoke up and said to him, 'You are the Christ.'	29 Ed egli domandava loro: «Ma voi, chi dite che io sia?». Pietro gli rispose: «Tu sei il Cristo».
30 And he gave them strict orders not to tell anyone about him.	30 E ordinò loro severamente di non parlare di lui ad alcuno.
31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of man was destined to suffer grievously, and to berejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be put to death, and after three days to riseagain;	31 E cominciò a insegnare loro che il Figlio dell’uomo doveva soffrire molto ed essere rifiutato dagli anziani, dai capi dei sacerdoti e dagli scribi, venire ucciso e, dopo tre giorni, risorgere.
32 and he said all this quite openly. Then, taking him aside, Peter tried to rebuke him.	32 Faceva questo discorso apertamente. Pietro lo prese in disparte e si mise a rimproverarlo.
33 But, turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said to him, 'Get behind me, Satan! Youare thinking not as God thinks, but as human beings do.'	33 Ma egli, voltatosi e guardando i suoi discepoli, rimproverò Pietro e disse: «Va’ dietro a me, Satana! Perché tu non pensi secondo Dio, ma secondo gli uomini».
34 He called the people and his disciples to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be a fol ower of mine, lethim renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me.	34 Convocata la folla insieme ai suoi discepoli, disse loro: «Se qualcuno vuol venire dietro a me, rinneghi se stesso, prenda la sua croce e mi segua.
35 Anyone who wants to save his life wil lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for thesake of the gospel, wil save it.	35 Perché chi vuole salvare la propria vita, la perderà; ma chi perderà la propria vita per causa mia e del Vangelo, la salverà.
36 What gain, then, is it for anyone to win the whole world and forfeit his life?	36 Infatti quale vantaggio c’è che un uomo guadagni il mondo intero e perda la propria vita?
37 And indeed what can anyone offer in exchange for his life?	37 Che cosa potrebbe dare un uomo in cambio della propria vita?
38 For if anyone in this sinful and adulterous generation is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son ofman wil also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.'	38 Chi si vergognerà di me e delle mie parole davanti a questa generazione adultera e peccatrice, anche il Figlio dell’uomo si vergognerà di lui, quando verrà nella gloria del Padre suo con gli angeli santi».
