Mark 14

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 It was two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and thescribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by some trick and have him put to death.	1 Ora, dali a dois dias seria a festa da Páscoa e dos {pães} Ázimos; e os sumos sacerdotes e os escribas buscavam algum meio de prender Jesus à traição para matá-lo.
2 For they said, 'It must not be during the festivities, or there wil be a disturbance among the people.'	2 Mas não durante a festa, diziam eles, para não haver talvez algum tumulto entre o povo.
3 He was at Bethany in the house of Simon, a man who had suffered from a virulent skin-disease; hewas at table when a woman came in with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, pure nard. She broke the jarand poured the ointment on his head.	3 Jesus se achava em Betânia, em casa de Simão, o leproso. Quando ele se pôs à mesa, entrou uma mulher trazendo um vaso de alabastro cheio de um perfume de nardo puro, de grande preço, e, quebrando o vaso, derramou-lho sobre a cabeça.
4 Some who were there said to one another indignantly, 'Why this waste of ointment?	4 Alguns, porém, ficaram indignados e disseram entre si: Por que este desperdício de bálsamo?
5 Ointment like this could have been sold for over three hundred denari and the money given to thepoor'; and they were angry with her.	5 Poder-se-ia tê-lo vendido por mais de trezentos denários, e os dar aos pobres. E irritavam-se contra ela.
6 But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone. Why are you upsetting her? What she has done for me is a goodwork.	6 Mas Jesus disse-lhes: Deixai-a. Por que a molestais? Ela me fez uma boa obra.
7 You have the poor with you always, and you can be kind to them whenever you wish, but you wil notalways have me.	7 Vós sempre tendes convosco os pobres e, quando quiserdes, podeis fazer-lhes bem; mas a mim não me tendes sempre.
8 She has done what she could: she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial.	8 Ela fez o que pode: embalsamou-me antecipadamente o corpo para a sepultura.
9 In truth I tel you, wherever throughout al the world the gospel is proclaimed, what she has done wilbe told as well, in remembrance of her.'	9 Em verdade vos digo: onde quer que for pregado em todo o mundo o Evangelho, será contado para sua memória o que ela fez.
10 Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, approached the chief priests with an offer to hand Jesus over tothem.	10 Judas Iscariotes, um dos Doze, foi avistar-se com os sumos sacerdotes para lhes entregar Jesus.
11 They were delighted to hear it, and promised to give him money; and he began to look for a way ofbetraying him when the opportunity should occur.	11 A esta notícia, eles alegraram-se e prometeram dar-lhe dinheiro. E ele buscava ocasião oportuna para o entregar.
12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, his disciples said tohim, 'Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?'	12 No primeiro dia dos Ázimos, em que se imolava a Páscoa, perguntaram-lhe os discípulos: Onde queres que preparemos a refeição da Páscoa?
13 So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying apitcher of water. Fol ow him,	13 Ele enviou dois dos seus discípulos, dizendo: Ide à cidade, e sair-vos-á ao encontro um homem, carregando um cântaro de água.
14 and say to the owner of the house which he enters, "The Master says: Where is the room for me toeat the Passover with my disciples?"	14 Segui-o e, onde ele entrar, dizei ao dono da casa: O Mestre pergunta: Onde está a sala em que devo comer a Páscoa com os meus discípulos?
15 He wil show you a large upper room furnished with couches, al prepared. Make the preparations forus there.'	15 E ele vos mostrará uma grande sala no andar superior, mobiliada e pronta. Fazei ali os preparativos.
16 The disciples set out and went to the city and found everything as he had told them, and preparedthe Passover.	16 Partiram os discípulos para a cidade e acharam tudo como Jesus lhes havia dito, e prepararam a Páscoa.
17 When evening came he arrived with the Twelve.	17 Chegando a tarde, dirigiu-se ele para lá com os Doze.
18 And while they were at table eating, Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, one of you is about to betray me,one of you eating with me.'	18 E enquanto estavam sentados à mesa e comiam, Jesus disse: Em verdade vos digo: um de vós que come comigo me há de entregar.
19 They were distressed and said to him, one after another, 'Not me, surely?'	19 Começaram a entristecer-se e a perguntar-lhe, um após outro: Porventura sou eu?
20 He said to them, 'It is one of the Twelve, one who is dipping into the same dish with me.	20 Respondeu-lhes ele: É um dos Doze, que se serve comigo do mesmo prato.
21 Yes, the Son of man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will, but alas for that man by whomthe Son of man is betrayed! Better for that man if he had never been born.'	21 O Filho do homem vai, segundo o que dele está escrito, mas ai daquele homem por quem o Filho do homem for traído! Melhor lhe seria que nunca tivesse nascido...
22 And as they were eating he took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it tothem. 'Take it,' he said, 'this is my body.'	22 Durante a refeição, Jesus tomou o pão e, depois de o benzer, partiu-o e deu-lho, dizendo: Tomai, isto é o meu corpo.
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them, and al drank from it,	23 Em seguida, tomou o cálice, deu graças e apresentou-lho, e todos dele beberam.
24 and he said to them, 'This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many.	24 E disse-lhes: Isto é o meu sangue, o sangue da aliança, que é derramado por muitos.
25 In truth I tel you, I shal never drink wine any more until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdomof God.'	25 Em verdade vos digo: já não beberei do fruto da videira, até aquele dia em que o beberei de novo no Reino de Deus.
26 After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.	26 Terminado o canto dos Salmos, saíram para o monte das Oliveiras.
27 And Jesus said to them, 'You wil all fal away, for the scripture says: I shal strike the shepherd andthe sheep wil be scattered;	27 E Jesus disse-lhes: Vós todos vos escandalizareis, pois está escrito: Ferirei o pastor, e as ovelhas serão dispersas {Zac 13,7}.
28 however, after my resurrection I shall go before you into Galilee.'	28 Mas depois que eu ressurgir, eu vos precederei na Galiléia.
29 Peter said, 'Even if all fal away, I wil not.'	29 Entretanto, Pedro lhe respondeu: Ainda que todos se escandalizem de ti, eu, porém, nunca!
30 And Jesus said to him, 'In truth I tel you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, youwil have disowned me three times.'	30 Jesus disse-lhe: Em verdade te digo: hoje, nesta mesma noite, antes que o galo cante duas vezes, três vezes me terás negado.
31 But he repeated stil more earnestly, 'If I have to die with you, I wil never disown you.' And they allsaid the same.	31 Mas Pedro repetia com maior ardor: Ainda que seja preciso morrer contigo, não te renegarei.E todos disseram o mesmo.
32 They came to a plot of land cal ed Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, 'Stay here while I pray.'	32 Foram em seguida para o lugar chamado Getsêmani, e Jesus disse a seus discípulos: Sentai-vos aqui, enquanto vou orar.
33 Then he took Peter and James and John with him.	33 Levou consigo Pedro, Tiago e João; e começou a ter pavor e a angustiar-se.
34 And he began to feel terror and anguish. And he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowful to the point ofdeath. Wait here, and stay awake.'	34 Disse-lhes: A minha alma está numa tristeza mortal; ficai aqui e vigiai.
35 And going on a little further he threw himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, thishour might pass him by.	35 Adiantando-se alguns passos, prostrou-se com a face por terra e orava que, se fosse possível, passasse dele aquela hora.
36 'Abba, Father!' he said, 'For you everything is possible. Take this cup away from me. But let it be asyou, not I, would have it.'	36 Aba! {Pai!}, suplicava ele. Tudo te é possível; afasta de mim este cálice! Contudo, não se faça o que eu quero, senão o que tu queres.
37 He came back and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Had you notthe strength to stay awake one hour?	37 Em seguida, foi ter com seus discípulos e achou-os dormindo. Disse a Pedro: Simão, dormes? Não pudeste vigiar uma hora!
38 Stay awake and pray not to be put to the test. The spirit is wil ing enough, but human nature is weak.'	38 Vigiai e orai, para que não entreis em tentação. Pois o espírito está pronto, mas a carne é fraca.
39 Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.	39 Afastou-se outra vez e orou, dizendo as mesmas palavras.
40 And once more he came back and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy; and they couldfind no answer for him.	40 Voltando, achou-os de novo dormindo, porque seus olhos estavam pesados; e não sabiam o que lhe responder.
41 He came back a third time and said to them, 'You can sleep on now and have your rest. It is al over.The hour has come. Now the Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.	41 Voltando pela terceira vez, disse-lhes: Dormi e descansai. Basta! Veio a hora! O Filho do homem vai ser entregue nas mãos dos pecadores.
42 Get up! Let us go! My betrayer is not far away.'	42 Levantai-vos e vamos! Aproxima-se o que me há de entregar.
43 And at once, while he was stil speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came up and with him a numberof men armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.	43 Ainda falava, quando chegou Judas Iscariotes, um dos Doze, e com ele um bando armado de espadas e cacetes, enviado pelos sumos sacerdotes, escribas e anciãos.
44 Now the traitor had arranged a signal with them saying, 'The one I kiss, he is the man. Arrest him,and see he is well guarded when you lead him away.'	44 Ora, o traidor tinha-lhes dado o seguinte sinal: Aquele a quem eu beijar é ele. Prendei-o e levai-o com cuidado.
45 So when the traitor came, he went up to Jesus at once and said, 'Rabbi!' and kissed him.	45 Assim que ele se aproximou de Jesus, disse: Rabi!, e o beijou.
46 The others seized him and arrested him.	46 Lançaram-lhe as mãos e o prenderam.
47 Then one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck out at the high priest's servant and cut off hisear.	47 Um dos circunstantes tirou da espada, feriu o servo do sumo sacerdote e decepou-lhe a orelha.
48 Then Jesus spoke. 'Am I a bandit,' he said, 'that you had to set out to capture me with swords andclubs?	48 Mas Jesus tomou a palavra e disse-lhes: Como a um bandido, saístes com espadas e cacetes para prender-me!
49 I was among you teaching in the Temple day after day and you never laid a hand on me. But this isto fulfil the scriptures.'	49 Entretanto, todos os dias estava convosco, ensinando no templo, e não me prendestes. Mas isso acontece para que se cumpram as Escrituras.
50 And they al deserted him and ran away.	50 Então todos o abandonaram e fugiram.
51 A young man fol owed with nothing on but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him,	51 Seguia-o um jovem coberto somente de um pano de linho; e prenderam-no.
52 but he left the cloth in their hands and ran away naked.	52 Mas, lançando ele de si o pano de linho, escapou-lhes despido.
53 They led Jesus off to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribesassembled there.	53 Conduziram Jesus à casa do sumo sacerdote, onde se reuniram todos os sacerdotes, escribas e anciãos.
54 Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the high priest's palace, and was sitting with theattendants warming himself at the fire.	54 Pedro o foi seguindo de longe até dentro do pátio. Sentou-se junto do fogo com os servos e aquecia-se.
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus in order to havehim executed. But they could not find any.	55 Os sumos sacerdotes e todo o conselho buscavam algum testemunho contra Jesus, para o condenar à morte, mas não o achavam.
56 Several, indeed, brought false witness against him, but their evidence was conflicting.	56 Muitos diziam falsos testemunhos contra ele, mas seus depoimentos não concordavam.
57 Some stood up and submitted this false evidence against him,	57 Levantaram-se, então, alguns e deram esse falso testemunho contra ele:
58 'We heard him say, "I am going to destroy this Temple made by human hands, and in three daysbuild another, not made by human hands." '	58 Ouvimo-lo dizer: Eu destruirei este templo, feito por mãos de homens, e em três dias edificarei outro, que não será feito por mãos de homens.
59 But even on this point their evidence was conflicting.	59 Mas nem neste ponto eram coerentes os seus testemunhos.
60 The high priest then rose before the whole assembly and put this question to Jesus, 'Have you noanswer to that? What is this evidence these men are bringing against you?'	60 O sumo sacerdote levantou-se no meio da assembléia e perguntou a Jesus: Não respondes nada? O que é isto que dizem contra ti?
61 But he was silent and made no answer at all. The high priest put a second question to him saying,'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?'	61 Mas Jesus se calava e nada respondia. O sumo sacerdote tornou a perguntar-lhe: És tu o Cristo, o Filho de Deus bendito?
62 'I am,' said Jesus, 'and you wil see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Power and comingwith the clouds of heaven.'	62 Jesus respondeu: Eu o sou. E vereis o Filho do Homem sentado à direita do poder de Deus, vindo sobre as nuvens do céu.
63 The high priest tore his robes and said, 'What need of witnesses have we now?	63 O sumo sacerdote rasgou então as suas vestes. Para que desejamos ainda testemunhas?!, exclamou ele.
64 You heard the blasphemy. What is your finding?' Their verdict was unanimous: he deserved to die.	64 Ouvistes a blasfêmia! Que vos parece? E unanimemente o julgaram merecedor da morte.
65 Some of them started spitting at his face, hitting him and saying, 'Play the prophet!' And theattendants struck him too.	65 Alguns começaram a cuspir nele, a tapar-lhe o rosto, a dar-lhe socos e a dizer-lhe: Adivinha! Os servos igualmente davam-lhe bofetadas.
66 While Peter was down below in the courtyard, one of the high priest's servant-girls came up.	66 Estando Pedro embaixo, no pátio, veio uma das criadas do sumo sacerdote.
67 She saw Peter warming himself there, looked closely at him and said, 'You too were with Jesus, theman from Nazareth.'	67 Ela fixou os olhos em Pedro, que se aquecia, e disse: Também tu estavas com Jesus de Nazaré.
68 But he denied it. 'I do not know, I do not understand what you are talking about,' he said. And hewent out into the forecourt, and a cock crowed.	68 Ele negou: Não sei, nem compreendo o que dizes. E saiu para a entrada do pátio; e o galo cantou.
69 The servant-girl saw him and again started tel ing the bystanders, 'This man is one of them.'	69 A criada, que o vira, começou a dizer aos circunstantes: Este faz parte do grupo deles.
70 But again he denied it. A little later the bystanders themselves said to Peter, 'You are certainly one ofthem! Why, you are a Galilean.'	70 Mas Pedro negou outra vez. Pouco depois, os que ali estavam diziam de novo a Pedro: Certamente tu és daqueles, pois és galileu.
71 But he started cursing and swearing, 'I do not know the man you speak of.'	71 Então ele começou a praguejar e a jurar: Não conheço esse homem de quem falais.
72 And at once the cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recalled what Jesus had said to him,'Before the cock crows twice, you will have disowned me three times.' And he burst into tears.	72 E imediatamente cantou o galo pela segunda vez. Pedro lembrou-se da palavra que Jesus lhe havia dito: Antes que o galo cante duas vezes, três vezes me negarás. E, lembrando-se disso, rompeu em soluços.
