Mark 14

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 It was two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and thescribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by some trick and have him put to death.	1 Faltaban dos días para la fiesta de la Pascua y de los panes Acimos. Los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban la manera de arrestar a Jesús con astucia, para darle muerte.
2 For they said, 'It must not be during the festivities, or there wil be a disturbance among the people.'	2 Porque decían: «No lo hagamos durante la fiesta, para que no se produzca un tumulto en el pueblo».
3 He was at Bethany in the house of Simon, a man who had suffered from a virulent skin-disease; hewas at table when a woman came in with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, pure nard. She broke the jarand poured the ointment on his head.	3 Mientras Jesús estaba en Betania, comiendo en casa de Simón el leproso, llegó una mujer con un frasco lleno de un valioso perfume de nardo puro, y rompiendo el frasco, derramó el perfume sobre la cabeza de Jesús.
4 Some who were there said to one another indignantly, 'Why this waste of ointment?	4 Entonces algunos de los que estaban allí se indignaron y comentaban entre sí: «¿Para qué este derroche de perfume?
5 Ointment like this could have been sold for over three hundred denari and the money given to thepoor'; and they were angry with her.	5 Se hubiera podido vender por más de trescientos denarios para repartir el dinero entre los pobres». Y la criticaban.
6 But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone. Why are you upsetting her? What she has done for me is a goodwork.	6 Pero Jesús dijo: «Déjenla, ¿por qué la molestan? Ha hecho una buena obra conmigo.
7 You have the poor with you always, and you can be kind to them whenever you wish, but you wil notalways have me.	7 A los pobres los tendrán siempre con ustedes y podrán hacerles bien cuando quieran, pero a mí no me tendrán siempre.
8 She has done what she could: she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial.	8 Ella hizo lo que podía; ungió mi cuerpo anticipadamente para la sepultura.
9 In truth I tel you, wherever throughout al the world the gospel is proclaimed, what she has done wilbe told as well, in remembrance of her.'	9 Les aseguro que allí donde se proclame la Buena Noticia, en todo el mundo, se contará también en su memoria lo que ella hizo».
10 Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, approached the chief priests with an offer to hand Jesus over tothem.	10 Judas Iscariote, uno de los Doce, fue a ver a los sumos sacerdotes para entregarles a Jesús.
11 They were delighted to hear it, and promised to give him money; and he began to look for a way ofbetraying him when the opportunity should occur.	11 Al oírlo, ellos se alegraron y prometieron darle dinero. Y Judas buscaba una ocasión propicia para entregarlo.
12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, his disciples said tohim, 'Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?'	12 El primer día de la fiesta de los panes Acimos, cuando se inmolaba la víctima pascual, los discípulos dijeron a Jesús: «¿Dónde quieres que vayamos a prepararte la comida pascual?».
13 So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying apitcher of water. Fol ow him,	13 El envió a dos de sus discípulos, diciéndoles: «Vayan a la ciudad; allí se encontrarán con un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo,
14 and say to the owner of the house which he enters, "The Master says: Where is the room for me toeat the Passover with my disciples?"	14 y díganle al dueño de la casa donde entre: El Maestro dice: «¿Dónde está mi sala, en la que voy a comer el cordero pascual con mis discípulos?».
15 He wil show you a large upper room furnished with couches, al prepared. Make the preparations forus there.'	15 El les mostrará en el piso alto una pieza grande, arreglada con almohadones y ya dispuesta; prepárennos allí lo necesario».
16 The disciples set out and went to the city and found everything as he had told them, and preparedthe Passover.	16 Los discípulos partieron y, al llegar a la ciudad, encontraron todo como Jesús les había dicho y prepararon la Pascua.
17 When evening came he arrived with the Twelve.	17 Al atardecer, Jesús llegó con los Doce.
18 And while they were at table eating, Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, one of you is about to betray me,one of you eating with me.'	18 Y mientras estaban comiendo, dijo: «Les aseguro que uno de ustedes me entregará, uno que come conmigo».
19 They were distressed and said to him, one after another, 'Not me, surely?'	19 Ellos se entristecieron y comenzaron a preguntarle, uno tras otro: «¿Seré yo?»
20 He said to them, 'It is one of the Twelve, one who is dipping into the same dish with me.	20 El les respondió: «Es uno de los Doce, uno que se sirve de la misma fuente que yo.
21 Yes, the Son of man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will, but alas for that man by whomthe Son of man is betrayed! Better for that man if he had never been born.'	21 El Hijo del hombre se va, como está escrito de él, pero ¡ay de aquel por quien el Hijo del hombre será entregado: más le valdría no haber nacido!».
22 And as they were eating he took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it tothem. 'Take it,' he said, 'this is my body.'	22 Mientras comían, Jesús tomo el pan, pronunció la bendición, lo partió y lo dio a sus discípulos, diciendo: «Tomen, esto es mi Cuerpo».
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them, and al drank from it,	23 Después tomó una copa, dio gracias y se la entregó, y todos bebieron de ella.
24 and he said to them, 'This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many.	24 Y les dijo: «Esta es mi Sangre, la Sangre de la Alianza, que se derrama por muchos.
25 In truth I tel you, I shal never drink wine any more until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdomof God.'	25 Les aseguro que no beberá más del fruto de la vid hasta el día en que beba el vino nuevo en el Reino de Dios».
26 After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.	26 Después del canto de los Salmos, salieron hacia el monte de los Olivos.
27 And Jesus said to them, 'You wil all fal away, for the scripture says: I shal strike the shepherd andthe sheep wil be scattered;	27 Y Jesús les dijo: «Todos ustedes se van a escandalizar, porque dice la Escritura: Heriré al pastor y se dispersarán las ovejas.
28 however, after my resurrection I shall go before you into Galilee.'	28 Pero después que yo resucite, iré antes que ustedes a Galilea».
29 Peter said, 'Even if all fal away, I wil not.'	29 Pedro le dijo: «Aunque todos se escandalicen, o no me escandalizaré».
30 And Jesus said to him, 'In truth I tel you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, youwil have disowned me three times.'	30 Jesús le respondió: «Te aseguro que hoy, esta misma noche, antes que cante el gallo por segunda vez, me habrás negado tres veces».
31 But he repeated stil more earnestly, 'If I have to die with you, I wil never disown you.' And they allsaid the same.	31 Pero él insistía: «Aunque tenga que morir contigo, jamás te negaré». Y todos decían lo mismo.
32 They came to a plot of land cal ed Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, 'Stay here while I pray.'	32 Llegaron a una propiedad llamada Getsemaní, y Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: «Quédense aquí, mientras yo voy a orar».
33 Then he took Peter and James and John with him.	33 Después llevó con él a Pedro, Santiago y Juan, y comenzó a sentir temor y a angustiarse.
34 And he began to feel terror and anguish. And he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowful to the point ofdeath. Wait here, and stay awake.'	34 Entonces les dijo: «Mi alma siente una tristeza de muerte. Quédense aquí velando».
35 And going on a little further he threw himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, thishour might pass him by.	35 Y adelantándose un poco, se postró en tierra y rogaba que, de ser posible, no tuviera que pasar por esa hora.
36 'Abba, Father!' he said, 'For you everything is possible. Take this cup away from me. But let it be asyou, not I, would have it.'	36 Y decía: «Abba –Padre– todo te es posible: aleja de mí este cáliz, pero que no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya».
37 He came back and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Had you notthe strength to stay awake one hour?	37 Después volvió y encontró a sus discípulos dormidos. Y Jesús dijo a Pedro: «Simón, ¿duermes? ¿No has podido quedarte despierto ni siquiera una hora?
38 Stay awake and pray not to be put to the test. The spirit is wil ing enough, but human nature is weak.'	38 Permanezcan despiertos y oren para no caer en la tentación, porque es espíritu está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil».
39 Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.	39 Luego se alejó nuevamente y oró, repitiendo las mismas palabras.
40 And once more he came back and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy; and they couldfind no answer for him.	40 Al regresar, los encontró otra vez dormidos, porque sus ojos se cerraban de sueño, y no sabían qué responderle.
41 He came back a third time and said to them, 'You can sleep on now and have your rest. It is al over.The hour has come. Now the Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.	41 Volvió por tercera vez y les dijo: «Ahora pueden dormir y descansar. Esto se acabó. Ha llegado la hora en que el Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los pecadores.
42 Get up! Let us go! My betrayer is not far away.'	42 ¡Levántense! ¡Vamos! Ya se acerca el que me va a entregar».
43 And at once, while he was stil speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came up and with him a numberof men armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.	43 Jesús estaba hablando todavía, cuando se presentó Judas, uno de los Doce, acompañado de un grupo con espadas y palos, enviado por los sumos sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos.
44 Now the traitor had arranged a signal with them saying, 'The one I kiss, he is the man. Arrest him,and see he is well guarded when you lead him away.'	44 El traidor les había dado esta señal: «Es aquel a quien voy a besar. Deténganlo y llévenlo bien custodiado».
45 So when the traitor came, he went up to Jesus at once and said, 'Rabbi!' and kissed him.	45 Apenas llegó, se le acercó y le dijo: «Maestro», y lo besó.
46 The others seized him and arrested him.	46 Los otros se abalanzaron sobre él y lo arrestaron.
47 Then one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck out at the high priest's servant and cut off hisear.	47 Uno de los que estaban allí sacó la espada e hirió al servidor del Sumo Sacerdote, cortándole la oreja.
48 Then Jesus spoke. 'Am I a bandit,' he said, 'that you had to set out to capture me with swords andclubs?	48 Jesús les dijo: «Como si fuera un bandido, han salido a arrestarme con espadas y palos.
49 I was among you teaching in the Temple day after day and you never laid a hand on me. But this isto fulfil the scriptures.'	49 Todos los días estaba entre ustedes enseñando en el Templo y no me arrestaron. Pero esto sucede para que se cumplan las Escrituras».
50 And they al deserted him and ran away.	50 Entonces todos lo abandonaron y huyeron.
51 A young man fol owed with nothing on but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him,	51 Lo seguía un joven, envuelto solamente con una sábana, y lo sujetaron;
52 but he left the cloth in their hands and ran away naked.	52 pero él, dejando la sábana, se escapó desnudo.
53 They led Jesus off to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribesassembled there.	53 Llevaron a Jesús ante el Sumo Sacerdote, y allí se reunieron todos los sumos sacerdotes, los ancianos y los escribas.
54 Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the high priest's palace, and was sitting with theattendants warming himself at the fire.	54 Pedro lo había seguido de lejos hasta el interior del palacio del Sumo Sacerdote y estaba sentado con los servidores, calentándose junto al fuego.
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus in order to havehim executed. But they could not find any.	55 Los sumos sacerdotes y todo el Sanedrín buscaban un testimonio contra Jesús, para poder condenarlo a muerte, pero no lo encontraban.
56 Several, indeed, brought false witness against him, but their evidence was conflicting.	56 Porque se presentaron muchos con falsas acusaciones contra él, pero sus testimonios no concordaban.
57 Some stood up and submitted this false evidence against him,	57 Algunos declaraban falsamente contra Jesús:
58 'We heard him say, "I am going to destroy this Temple made by human hands, and in three daysbuild another, not made by human hands." '	58 «Nosotros lo hemos oído decir: "Yo destruiré este Templo hecho por la mano del hombre, y en tres días volveré a construir otro que no será hecho por la mano del hombre"».
59 But even on this point their evidence was conflicting.	59 Pero tampoco en esto concordaban sus declaraciones.
60 The high priest then rose before the whole assembly and put this question to Jesus, 'Have you noanswer to that? What is this evidence these men are bringing against you?'	60 El Sumo Sacerdote, poniéndose de pie ante la asamblea, interrogó a Jesús: «¿No respondes nada a lo que estos atestiguan contra ti?».
61 But he was silent and made no answer at all. The high priest put a second question to him saying,'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?'	61 El permanecía en silencio y no respondía nada. El Sumo Sacerdote lo interrogó nuevamente: «¿Eres el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios bendito?».
62 'I am,' said Jesus, 'and you wil see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Power and comingwith the clouds of heaven.'	62 Jesús respondió: «Así, yo lo soy: y ustedes verán al Hijo del hombre sentarse a la derecha del Todopoderoso y venir entre las nubes del cielo».
63 The high priest tore his robes and said, 'What need of witnesses have we now?	63 Entonces el Sumo Sacerdote rasgó sus vestiduras y exclamó: «¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testigos?
64 You heard the blasphemy. What is your finding?' Their verdict was unanimous: he deserved to die.	64 Ustedes acaban de oír la blasfemia. ¿Qué les parece?». Y todos sentenciaron que merecía la muerte.
65 Some of them started spitting at his face, hitting him and saying, 'Play the prophet!' And theattendants struck him too.	65 Después algunos comenzaron a escupirlo y, tapándole el rostro, lo golpeaban, mientras le decían: «¡Profetiza!». Y también los servidores le daban bofetadas.
66 While Peter was down below in the courtyard, one of the high priest's servant-girls came up.	66 Mientras Pedro estaba abajo, en el patio, llegó una de las sirvientas del Sumo Sacerdote
67 She saw Peter warming himself there, looked closely at him and said, 'You too were with Jesus, theman from Nazareth.'	67 y, al ver a Pedro junto al fuego, lo miró fijamente y le dijo: «Tú también estabas con Jesús, el Nazareno».
68 But he denied it. 'I do not know, I do not understand what you are talking about,' he said. And hewent out into the forecourt, and a cock crowed.	68 El lo negó, diciendo: «No sé nada; no entiendo de qué estás hablando». Luego salió al vestíbulo.
69 The servant-girl saw him and again started tel ing the bystanders, 'This man is one of them.'	69 La sirvienta, al verlo, volvió a decir a los presentes: «Este es uno de ellos».
70 But again he denied it. A little later the bystanders themselves said to Peter, 'You are certainly one ofthem! Why, you are a Galilean.'	70 Pero él lo negó nuevamente. Un poco más tarde, los que estaban allí dijeron a Pedro: «Seguro que eres uno de ellos, porque tú también eres galileo».
71 But he started cursing and swearing, 'I do not know the man you speak of.'	71 Entonces él se puso a maldecir y a jurar que no conocía a ese hombre del que estaban hablando.
72 And at once the cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recalled what Jesus had said to him,'Before the cock crows twice, you will have disowned me three times.' And he burst into tears.	72 En seguida cantó el gallo por segunda vez. Pedro recordó las palabras que Jesús le había dicho: «Antes que cante el gallo por segunda vez, tú me habrás negado tres veces». Y se puso a llorar.
