Mark 14

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 It was two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and thescribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by some trick and have him put to death.	1 Due giorni dopo doveva celebrarsi la festa di Pasqua e degli Azzimi, e i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi cercavano come impadronirsi di lui con inganno e farlo morire.
2 For they said, 'It must not be during the festivities, or there wil be a disturbance among the people.'	2 Dicevano infatti: "Non durante la festività, affinché non si verifichi una sommossa del popolo".
3 He was at Bethany in the house of Simon, a man who had suffered from a virulent skin-disease; hewas at table when a woman came in with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, pure nard. She broke the jarand poured the ointment on his head.	3 Intanto, trovandosi egli a Betània in casa di Simone il lebbroso, mentre sedeva a mensa, giunse una donna recando un vaso di alabastro pieno di unguento di nardo genuino, molto costoso. Ora ella, infranto il vaso, lo versò sul capo di lui.
4 Some who were there said to one another indignantly, 'Why this waste of ointment?	4 C'erano alcuni che indignati si dicevano tra loro: "A che scopo è stato fatto questo spreco di unguento?
5 Ointment like this could have been sold for over three hundred denari and the money given to thepoor'; and they were angry with her.	5 Infatti si poteva vendere questo unguento a oltre trecento denari e darli ai poveri". E si misero a rimproverarla.
6 But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone. Why are you upsetting her? What she has done for me is a goodwork.	6 Gesù, allora, disse: "Lasciatela stare! Perché le date fastidio? Ha compiuto un'opera buona verso di me.
7 You have the poor with you always, and you can be kind to them whenever you wish, but you wil notalways have me.	7 Difatti, i poveri li avete sempre con voi e potete far loro del bene quando volete; ma non sempre avrete me.
8 She has done what she could: she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial.	8 Ciò che poteva fare, ella l'ha fatto ungendo il mio corpo in anticipo per la sepoltura.
9 In truth I tel you, wherever throughout al the world the gospel is proclaimed, what she has done wilbe told as well, in remembrance of her.'	9 In verità vi dico: dovunque sarà predicato il vangelo per tutto il mondo, si narrerà, a sua memoria, anche ciò che ella ha fatto".
10 Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, approached the chief priests with an offer to hand Jesus over tothem.	10 Ora Giuda Iscariota, che era uno dei Dodici, si recò dai capi dei sacerdoti per consegnarlo nelle loro mani.
11 They were delighted to hear it, and promised to give him money; and he began to look for a way ofbetraying him when the opportunity should occur.	11 Essi, all'udir ciò, si rallegrarono e promisero di dargli del denaro. Perciò egli cercava il modo di consegnarglielo al momento più opportuno.
12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, his disciples said tohim, 'Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?'	12 Nel primo giorno degli Azzimi, all'ora in cui s'immolava l'agnello pasquale, i suoi discepoli gli dicono: "Dove vuoi che andiamo a preparare perché tu possa mangiare la Pasqua?".
13 So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying apitcher of water. Fol ow him,	13 Egli manda due dei suoi discepoli dicendo loro: "Andate in città. Vi si farà avanti un uomo che trasporta un'anfora d'acqua. Seguitelo
14 and say to the owner of the house which he enters, "The Master says: Where is the room for me toeat the Passover with my disciples?"	14 e, dovunque entri, dite al padrone di casa: "Il Maestro manda a dire: Dov'è la mia sala, in cui possa mangiare la Pasqua insieme ai miei discepoli?".
15 He wil show you a large upper room furnished with couches, al prepared. Make the preparations forus there.'	15 Egli vi mostrerà una grande stanza al piano superiore, già arredata e pronta. Là preparate per noi".
16 The disciples set out and went to the city and found everything as he had told them, and preparedthe Passover.	16 I discepoli andarono e, giunti in città, trovarono com'egli aveva loro detto e prepararono la Pasqua.
17 When evening came he arrived with the Twelve.	17 Fattasi sera, venne anch'egli con i Dodici.
18 And while they were at table eating, Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, one of you is about to betray me,one of you eating with me.'	18 Mentre erano a tavola e mangiavano, Gesù disse: "In verità vi dico che uno di voi, che mangia con me, mi tradirà".
19 They were distressed and said to him, one after another, 'Not me, surely?'	19 Allora quelli incominciarono a rattristarsi e a domandargli, uno per uno: "Sono forse io?".
20 He said to them, 'It is one of the Twelve, one who is dipping into the same dish with me.	20 Ma egli rispose loro: "E' uno dei Dodici, che intinge con me nel piatto.
21 Yes, the Son of man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will, but alas for that man by whomthe Son of man is betrayed! Better for that man if he had never been born.'	21 Sì, il Figlio dell'uomo se ne va, in conformità a quanto sta scritto di lui. Guai, però, a quell'uomo dal quale il Figlio dell'uomo è tradito! Sarebbe meglio per lui che quell'uomo non fosse mai nato!".
22 And as they were eating he took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it tothem. 'Take it,' he said, 'this is my body.'	22 Mentre ancora mangiavano, egli prese il pane, lo benedì, lo spezzò e lo diede loro dicendo: "Prendete! Questo è il mio corpo".
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them, and al drank from it,	23 Poi prese un calice, lo benedì, lo diede loro e ne bevvero tutti.
24 and he said to them, 'This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many.	24 Egli disse loro: "Questo è il mio sangue dell'alleanza, versato per molti.
25 In truth I tel you, I shal never drink wine any more until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdomof God.'	25 In verità vi dico che non berrò più del succo della vite fino al giorno in cui lo berrò nuovo nel regno di Dio".
26 After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.	26 Quindi, detto l'inno di lode, uscirono verso il monte degli Ulivi.
27 And Jesus said to them, 'You wil all fal away, for the scripture says: I shal strike the shepherd andthe sheep wil be scattered;	27 Allora Gesù disse loro: "Voi tutti vi scandalizzerete, poiché sta scritto: Percuoterò il pastore e le pecore si disperderanno.
28 however, after my resurrection I shall go before you into Galilee.'	28 Ma dopo che sarò risorto, vi precederò in Galilea".
29 Peter said, 'Even if all fal away, I wil not.'	29 Pietro, però, gli disse: "Anche se tutti si scandalizzeranno, io no!".
30 And Jesus said to him, 'In truth I tel you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, youwil have disowned me three times.'	30 Gli dice Gesù: "In verità ti dico che oggi, questa notte stessa, prima che il gallo canti due volte, mi rinnegherai tre volte".
31 But he repeated stil more earnestly, 'If I have to die with you, I wil never disown you.' And they allsaid the same.	31 Ma egli continuava a dire con maggior forza: "Anche se dovessi morire con te, non ti rinnegherò". Lo stesso dicevano anche tutti gli altri.
32 They came to a plot of land cal ed Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, 'Stay here while I pray.'	32 Frattanto giungono in un podere chiamato Getsèmani. Dice ai suoi discepoli: "Sedetevi qui, intanto che io prego".
33 Then he took Peter and James and John with him.	33 Quindi, presi con sé Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni, incominciò ad essere preso da terrore e da spavento.
34 And he began to feel terror and anguish. And he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowful to the point ofdeath. Wait here, and stay awake.'	34 Perciò disse loro: "L'anima mia è triste fino alla morte. Rimanete qui e vegliate!".
35 And going on a little further he threw himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, thishour might pass him by.	35 Quindi, portatosi un po' più avanti, si gettò a terra e pregava che, se fosse possibile, passasse da lui quell'ora.
36 'Abba, Father!' he said, 'For you everything is possible. Take this cup away from me. But let it be asyou, not I, would have it.'	36 Diceva: "Abbà, Padre! Tutto è possibile a te. Allontana da me questo calice! Tuttavia, non ciò che io voglio, ma quello che tu vuoi".
37 He came back and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Had you notthe strength to stay awake one hour?	37 Tornato indietro, li trova addormentati. Perciò dice a Pietro: "Simone, dormi? Non hai avuto la forza di vegliare una sola ora?
38 Stay awake and pray not to be put to the test. The spirit is wil ing enough, but human nature is weak.'	38 Vegliate e pregate, affinché non entriate in tentazione. Certo, lo spirito è pronto; la carne, però, è debole".
39 Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.	39 Allontanatosi di nuovo, pregò ripetendo le stesse parole.
40 And once more he came back and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy; and they couldfind no answer for him.	40 Poi di nuovo tornò e li trovò addormentati. I loro occhi, infatti, erano appesantiti e non sapevano che cosa rispondergli.
41 He came back a third time and said to them, 'You can sleep on now and have your rest. It is al over.The hour has come. Now the Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.	41 Torna ancora una terza volta e dice loro: "Continuate a dormire e vi riposate? Basta! E' giunta l'ora: ecco che il Figlio dell'uomo è consegnato nelle mani dei peccatori.
42 Get up! Let us go! My betrayer is not far away.'	42 Alzatevi, andiamo! Ecco: chi mi tradisce è vicino".
43 And at once, while he was stil speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came up and with him a numberof men armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.	43 Nello stesso momento, mentre ancora parlava, giunge Giuda, uno dei Dodici, e con lui una grande turba con spade e bastoni, mandata dai capi dei sacerdoti, dagli scribi e dagli anziani.
44 Now the traitor had arranged a signal with them saying, 'The one I kiss, he is the man. Arrest him,and see he is well guarded when you lead him away.'	44 Il traditore aveva loro dato un segno: "Colui che bacerò, è lui. Afferratelo e portatelo via con attenzione".
45 So when the traitor came, he went up to Jesus at once and said, 'Rabbi!' and kissed him.	45 Appena giunto, subito gli si avvicinò dicendogli: "Maestro!", e lo baciava ripetutamente.
46 The others seized him and arrested him.	46 Quelli, allora, gli misero le mani addosso e lo arrestarono.
47 Then one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck out at the high priest's servant and cut off hisear.	47 Uno dei presenti, sguainata la spada, colpì il servo del sommo sacerdote e gli staccò l'orecchio.
48 Then Jesus spoke. 'Am I a bandit,' he said, 'that you had to set out to capture me with swords andclubs?	48 Allora Gesù, prendendo la parola, disse loro: "Come contro un brigante siete venuti ad arrestarmi, con spade e bastoni!
49 I was among you teaching in the Temple day after day and you never laid a hand on me. But this isto fulfil the scriptures.'	49 Ogni giorno ero tra voi, mentre insegnavo nel tempio, e non mi avete preso. Ma si adempiano le Scritture!".
50 And they al deserted him and ran away.	50 Allora i discepoli, abbandonatolo, fuggirono tutti.
51 A young man fol owed with nothing on but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him,	51 Un ragazzo, però, lo seguiva, avvolto solo di un panno di lino sul corpo nudo. Tentarono di afferrarlo;
52 but he left the cloth in their hands and ran away naked.	52 ma egli, lasciato cadere il panno di lino, se ne fuggì via nudo.
53 They led Jesus off to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribesassembled there.	53 Condotto Gesù dal sommo sacerdote, si radunarono tutti i capi dei sacerdoti, gli anziani e gli scribi.
54 Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the high priest's palace, and was sitting with theattendants warming himself at the fire.	54 Pietro, intanto, avendolo seguito da lontano fin dentro al cortile del sommo sacerdote, se ne stava seduto con i servi di lui e si scaldava vicino al fuoco.
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus in order to havehim executed. But they could not find any.	55 Or i capi dei sacerdoti e tutto il sinedrio cercavano qualche testimonianza contro Gesù per farlo morire, ma non ne trovavano.
56 Several, indeed, brought false witness against him, but their evidence was conflicting.	56 Infatti, molti attestavano il falso contro di lui, ma le loro testimonianze non erano concordi.
57 Some stood up and submitted this false evidence against him,	57 Allora si alzarono alcuni che, attestando il falso contro di lui, dicevano:
58 'We heard him say, "I am going to destroy this Temple made by human hands, and in three daysbuild another, not made by human hands." '	58 "L'abbiamo sentito noi mentre diceva: Io distruggerò questo tempio, fatto da mani d'uomo, e in tre giorni ne ricostruirò un altro, non fatto da mani d'uomo".
59 But even on this point their evidence was conflicting.	59 Ma anche su questo non si ebbe una testimonianza concorde.
60 The high priest then rose before the whole assembly and put this question to Jesus, 'Have you noanswer to that? What is this evidence these men are bringing against you?'	60 Allora il sommo sacerdote, alzatosi in piedi in mezzo al sinedrio, interrogò Gesù dicendogli: "Non rispondi nulla? Che cosa testificano costoro contro di te?".
61 But he was silent and made no answer at all. The high priest put a second question to him saying,'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?'	61 Egli, però, taceva e non rispondeva nulla. Perciò il sommo sacerdote lo interrogò di nuovo dicendogli: "Sei tu il Cristo, il Figlio del Benedetto?".
62 'I am,' said Jesus, 'and you wil see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Power and comingwith the clouds of heaven.'	62 Rispose Gesù: "Sì, sono io! E vedrete il Figlio dell'uomo, seduto alla destra della Potenza, venire con le nubi del cielo".
63 The high priest tore his robes and said, 'What need of witnesses have we now?	63 Allora il sommo sacerdote, stracciandosi le vesti, disse: "Di quale testimonianza abbiamo ancora bisogno?
64 You heard the blasphemy. What is your finding?' Their verdict was unanimous: he deserved to die.	64 Avete sentito la bestemmia. Che ve ne pare?". Tutti lo giudicarono reo di morte.
65 Some of them started spitting at his face, hitting him and saying, 'Play the prophet!' And theattendants struck him too.	65 Alcuni, poi, si misero a sputargli addosso, a coprirgli il volto e a percuoterlo dicendogli: "Indovina!". E i servi lo presero a schiaffi.
66 While Peter was down below in the courtyard, one of the high priest's servant-girls came up.	66 Or mentre Pietro se ne stava giù nel cortile, giunse una delle serve del sommo sacerdote
67 She saw Peter warming himself there, looked closely at him and said, 'You too were with Jesus, theman from Nazareth.'	67 e, avendo visto Pietro che si scaldava, fissandolo gli disse: "Anche tu eri col Nazareno, Gesù".
68 But he denied it. 'I do not know, I do not understand what you are talking about,' he said. And hewent out into the forecourt, and a cock crowed.	68 Ma egli negò: "Non so e non capisco cosa tu dici". Quindi uscì fuori nel vestibolo e un gallo cantò.
69 The servant-girl saw him and again started tel ing the bystanders, 'This man is one of them.'	69 Vedutolo ancora, la serva incominciò a dire di nuovo ai presenti: "Costui è uno di loro".
70 But again he denied it. A little later the bystanders themselves said to Peter, 'You are certainly one ofthem! Why, you are a Galilean.'	70 Ma egli negò nuovamente. Poco dopo i presenti dissero di nuovo a Pietro: "Sei davvero uno di loro. Infatti sei galileo".
71 But he started cursing and swearing, 'I do not know the man you speak of.'	71 Ma egli incominciò a imprecare e a giurare: "Non conosco quest'uomo di cui parlate".
72 And at once the cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recalled what Jesus had said to him,'Before the cock crows twice, you will have disowned me three times.' And he burst into tears.	72 E subito, per la seconda volta, un gallo cantò. Allora Pietro si ricordò delle parole che Gesù gli aveva detto: "Prima che il gallo canti due volte, mi rinnegherai tre volte"; e proruppe in pianto.
