NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, close by the Mount of Olives, hesent two of his disciples	1 Quando furono nelle vicinanze di Gerusalemme, verso Bètfage e Betània, nei pressi del monte degli Ulivi, egli inviò due dei suoi discepoli
2 and said to them, 'Go to the vil age facing you, and as you enter it you wil at once find a tethered coltthat no one has yet ridden. Untie it and bring it here.	2 dicendo loro: "Andate nella borgata che vi sta di fronte e appena entrati in essa troverete un puledro legato, sul quale nessuno si è mai seduto; scioglietelo e menatelo qui.
3 If anyone says to you, "What are you doing?" say, "The Master needs it and wil send it back here at once." '	3 Se qualcuno vi dirà: "Perché fate questo?", rispondete: "Il Signore ne ha bisogno; ma lo rimanderà subito qui".
4 They went off and found a colt tethered near a door in the open street. As they untied it,	4 Quelli andarono, trovarono il puledro, legato presso una porta, fuori sulla strada. Lo sciolsero;
5 some men standing there said, 'What are you doing, untying that colt?'	5 ma alcuni che stavano lì dissero loro: "Che fate voi, che sciogliete il puledro?".
6 They gave the answer Jesus had told them, and the men let them go.	6 Essi risposero come Gesù aveva detto e quelli li lasciarono fare.
7 Then they took the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on its back, and he mounted it.	7 Quindi portarono il puledro a Gesù, vi misero sopra i loro mantelli e Gesù vi si sedette sopra.
8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others greenery which they had cut in the fields.	8 Allora molti stesero i loro mantelli sulla strada e altri fronde verdi, tagliate nei campi.
9 And those who went in front and those who fol owed were al shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who iscoming in the name of the Lord!	9 Tanto quelli che andavano avanti quanto quelli che seguivano, gridavano: "Osanna! Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of David our father! Hosanna in the highest heavens!'	10 Benedetto il regno del padre nostro Davide, che viene! Osanna nel più alto dei cieli!".
11 He entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple; and when he had surveyed it al , as it was late bynow, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.	11 Così entrò a Gerusalemme, nel tempio, e quando ebbe osservato ogni cosa, poiché l'ora era già tarda, uscì verso Betània insieme ai Dodici.
12 Next day as they were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry.	12 Il giorno dopo, uscendo da Betània, ebbe fame;
13 Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but whenhe came up to it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.	13 e avendo visto da lontano un albero di fico in foglie, andò a osservare se per caso vi trovasse qualche cosa; ma, appressatovisi, non vi trovò che foglie, poiché non era stagione di fichi.
14 And he addressed the fig tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard himsay this.	14 Allora, rivolto al fico, disse: "Mai più in eterno qualcuno mangi frutti da te". E i suoi discepoli sentirono.
15 So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the Temple and began driving out the men selling andbuying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the seats of the dove sel ers.	15 Giunsero a Gerusalemme. Entrato nel tempio, incominciò a scacciare coloro che vendevano e compravano nel tempio; rovesciò i tavoli dei cambiavalute e le sedie dei venditori di colombi,
16 Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the Temple.	16 e non permetteva che alcuno trasportasse oggetti attraverso il tempio.
17 And he taught them and said, 'Does not scripture say: My house wil be cal ed a house of prayer for al peoples? But you have turned it into a bandits' den.'	17 Poi incominciò ad istruirli dicendo loro: "Non sta scritto: La mia casa sarà chiamata casa di preghiera per tutte le nazioni? Voi, invece, ne avete fatto una spelonca di briganti".
18 This came to the ears of the chief priests and the scribes, and they tried to find some way of doingaway with him; they were afraid of him because the people were carried away by his teaching.	18 Udito ciò, i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi cercavano come farlo perire. Infatti ne avevano paura, perché tutto il popolo era stupito per il suo insegnamento.
19 And when evening came he went out of the city.	19 Quando si fece sera, essi uscirono fuori della città.
20 Next morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots.	20 Ripassando, al mattino presto, videro il fico che si era seccato fin dalle radici.
21 Peter remembered. 'Look, Rabbi,' he said to Jesus, 'the fig tree that you cursed has withered away.'	21 Allora Pietro, ricordandosene, gli disse: "Maestro, guarda! Il fico che tu hai maledetto si è seccato".
22 Jesus answered, 'Have faith in God.	22 Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: "Abbiate fede in Dio!
23 In truth I tel you, if anyone says to this mountain, "Be pul ed up and thrown into the sea," with nodoubt in his heart, but believing that what he says wil happen, it will be done for him.	23 In verità vi dico che se uno dicesse a questo monte: "Lévati e gèttati nel mare!", e non esitasse nel suo cuore, ma credesse che avverrebbe ciò che dice, gli sarà concesso.
24 I tel you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it wil beyours.	24 Perciò vi dico: tutto quello che chiedete nella preghiera, credete di averlo già ottenuto e vi sarà concesso.
25 And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, soyour Father in heavenmay forgive your failings too.'	25 Quando poi state pregando, se avete qualcosa contro qualcuno, perdonate, affinché anche il Padre vostro che è nei cieli perdoni a voi i vostri peccati

27 They came to Jerusalem again, and as Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests and thescribes and the elders came to him,	27 Giunti di nuovo a Gerusalemme, mentre egli passeggiava nel tempio, gli si avvicinarono i capi dei sacerdoti, gli scribi e gli anziani
28 and they said to him, 'What authority have you for acting like this? Or who gave you authority to actlike this?'	28 e gli domandarono: "Con quale autorità fai queste cose? O chi ti ha dato tale autorità per farle?".
29 Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; answer me and I wil tel you my authorityfor acting like this.	29 Rispose loro Gesù: "Vi voglio domandare una cosa sola. Rispondetemi e poi anch'io vi dirò con quale autorità faccio queste cose.
30 John's baptism, what was its origin, heavenly or human? Answer me that.'	30 Il battesimo di Giovanni era dal cielo o dagli uomini? Rispondetemi!".
31 And they argued this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he wil say, "Then why did yourefuse to believe him?"	31 Quelli, allora, ragionavano tra loro dicendosi: "Se diciamo "dal cielo", dirà: "Perché, dunque, non gli avete creduto?".
32 But dare we say human?' -- they had the people to fear, for everyone held that John had been a realprophet.	32 E se dicessimo "dagli uomini"?". Ma temevano la folla, perché tutti ritenevano che Giovanni fosse stato davvero un profeta.
33 So their reply to Jesus was, 'We do not know.' And Jesus said to them, 'Nor will I tell you my authorityfor acting like this.'	33 Perciò risposero a Gesù: "Non lo sappiamo!". E Gesù disse loro: "Neppure io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose".
