NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, close by the Mount of Olives, hesent two of his disciples	1 - Quando furono giunti vicini a Gerusalemme ed a Betania, posta accanto al monte degli Ulivi, Gesù mandò avanti due suoi discepoli,
2 and said to them, 'Go to the vil age facing you, and as you enter it you wil at once find a tethered coltthat no one has yet ridden. Untie it and bring it here.	2 dicendo loro: «Andate nel villaggio che vi sta dirimpetto, e al vostro entrare troverete legato un asinello, sul quale nessuno è ancora montato; scioglietelo e menatelo a me.
3 If anyone says to you, "What are you doing?" say, "The Master needs it and wil send it back here at once." '	3 E se qualcuno vi domandasse: - Cosa fate? - rispondetegli che il Signore ne ha bisogno, e quegli tosto lo lascerà venire».
4 They went off and found a colt tethered near a door in the open street. As they untied it,	4 Se ne andarono e trovarono un asinello legato fuori d'una porta, presso un bivio, e lo sciolsero.
5 some men standing there said, 'What are you doing, untying that colt?'	5 E alcuni di quelli ch'eran lì, chiesero: «Perchè togliete l'asinello?».
6 They gave the answer Jesus had told them, and the men let them go.	6 Essi risposero come Gesù aveva loro comandato, e quelli li lasciarono fare.
7 Then they took the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on its back, and he mounted it.	7 Essi allora condussero l'asinello a Gesù, e, messigli sopra i loro mantelli, Gesù vi montò su.
8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others greenery which they had cut in the fields.	8 Molti stendevano le loro vesti sulla strada; ed altri tagliavano i ramoscelli dagli alberi, e li spargevano sulla strada.
9 And those who went in front and those who fol owed were al shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who iscoming in the name of the Lord!	9 E quelli ch'eran davanti come quelli che eran di dietro, gridavano: «Osanna!
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of David our father! Hosanna in the highest heavens!'	10 Benedetto Colui che viene nel nome del Signore! Benedetto il regno che viene, il regno di David, nostro padre. Osanna negli altissimi!».
11 He entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple; and when he had surveyed it al , as it was late bynow, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.	11 Gesù venne in Gerusalemme ed entrò nel tempio: poi osservata ogni cosa, se n'andò a Betania coi Dodici, essendosi fatta sera.
12 Next day as they were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry.	12 Il dì dopo, all'uscire da Betania, egli ebbe fame.
13 Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but whenhe came up to it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.	13 Visto da lontano un fico pien di foglie andò a vedere se per caso vi trovasse qualche cosa; ma, essendosi avvicinato e non avendovi visto altro che foglie, perchè non era la stagione dei fichi,
14 And he addressed the fig tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard himsay this.	14 Gesù disse al fico: «Nessuno in eterno mangi più del tuo frutto!». E i suoi discepoli udirono.
15 So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the Temple and began driving out the men selling andbuying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the seats of the dove sel ers.	15 Arrivati a Gerusalemme, ed entrati nel tempio, si mise a scacciare coloro che quivi vendevano e comperavano: rovesciò le tavole dei cambiamonete e gli scranni dei venditori di colombe,
16 Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the Temple.	16 e non permise che alcuno portasse oggetti attraverso al tempio.
17 And he taught them and said, 'Does not scripture say: My house wil be cal ed a house of prayer for al peoples? But you have turned it into a bandits' den.'	17 E li ammaestrava dicendo: «Non è forse scritto: "La mia casa sarà chiamata casa di orazione per tutte le nazioni"? Ma voi ne avete fatto una spelonca di ladri».
18 This came to the ears of the chief priests and the scribes, and they tried to find some way of doingaway with him; they were afraid of him because the people were carried away by his teaching.	18 I principi dei Sacerdoti e gli Scribi, udite queste cose, cercavano il modo di farlo morire: perchè essi lo temevano, mentre tutto il popolo ne ammirava la dottrina.
19 And when evening came he went out of the city.	19 Venuta a sera, egli uscì di città.
20 Next morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots.	20 La mattina dopo, ripassando accanto al fico, lo videro seccato fin dalle radici.
21 Peter remembered. 'Look, Rabbi,' he said to Jesus, 'the fig tree that you cursed has withered away.'	21 Pietro, rammentandosi, disse: «Maestro, vedi, il fico da te maledetto è seccato».
22 Jesus answered, 'Have faith in God.	22 Gesù rispose loro: «Abbiate fede in Dio.
23 In truth I tel you, if anyone says to this mountain, "Be pul ed up and thrown into the sea," with nodoubt in his heart, but believing that what he says wil happen, it will be done for him.	23 In verità vi dico che se qualcuno dirà a questa montagna: - Togliti di là e gettati in mare - e non avrà alcun dubbio nel suo cuore, ma crederà che quel che dice s'abbia a compiere, gli accadrà.
24 I tel you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it wil beyours.	24 Perciò vi dico: tutte le cose che domanderete nella preghiera, abbiate fede di ottenerle e le otterrete.
25 And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, soyour Father in heavenmay forgive your failings too.'	25 E quando vi mettete a pregare, se avete qualcosa contro alcuno, perdonate, affinchè il Padre vostro che è nei cieli vi perdoni i vostri falli.
26	26 Che se non perdonerete, neppure il Padre vostro che è nei cieli perdonerà a voi i vostri falli».
27 They came to Jerusalem again, and as Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests and thescribes and the elders came to him,	27 Giunsero di nuovo a Gerusalemme. Mentre Gesù passeggiava nel tempio, s'accostarono a lui i principi dei Sacerdoti, gli Scribi e i seniori
28 and they said to him, 'What authority have you for acting like this? Or who gave you authority to actlike this?'	28 e gli domandarono: «Con quale autorità fai tu queste cose? Chi ti ha dato il potere di farle?».
29 Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; answer me and I wil tel you my authorityfor acting like this.	29 Gesù rispose loro: «Io pure voglio farvi una domanda: rispondetemi e io vi dirò con quale autorità faccio queste cose.
30 John's baptism, what was its origin, heavenly or human? Answer me that.'	30 Il battesimo di Giovanni veniva dal cielo o dagli uomini? Rispondetemi».
31 And they argued this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he wil say, "Then why did yourefuse to believe him?"	31 Ma essi pensavan tra loro: «Se rispondiamo che veniva dal cielo dirà: - Perchè dunque non gli avete creduto?-
32 But dare we say human?' -- they had the people to fear, for everyone held that John had been a realprophet.	32 se poi diciamo: - Dagli uomini, - temiamo il popolo»; tutti infatti tenevan Giovanni in conto di vero profeta.
33 So their reply to Jesus was, 'We do not know.' And Jesus said to them, 'Nor will I tell you my authorityfor acting like this.'	33 Risposero quindi a Gesù: «Non lo sappiamo». «E neppur io», replicò Gesù «vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose».
