Mark 11

1 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, close by the Mount of Olives, hesent two of his disciples	1 And as they were approaching Jerusalem and Bethania, toward the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
2 and said to them, 'Go to the vil age facing you, and as you enter it you wil at once find a tethered coltthat no one has yet ridden. Untie it and bring it here.	2 and he said to them: “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately upon entering there, you will find a colt tied, on which no man has yet sat. Release him and bring him.
3 If anyone says to you, "What are you doing?" say, "The Master needs it and wil send it back here at once." '	3 And if anyone will say to you: ‘What are you doing?’ Say that the Lord has need of him. And he will immediately send him here.”
4 They went off and found a colt tethered near a door in the open street. As they untied it,	4 And going out, they found the colt tied before the outer gate, at the meeting of two ways. And they untied him.
5 some men standing there said, 'What are you doing, untying that colt?'	5 And some of those who were standing there said to them, “What are you doing by releasing the colt?”
6 They gave the answer Jesus had told them, and the men let them go.	6 And they spoke to them just as Jesus had instructed them. And they permitted them.
7 Then they took the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on its back, and he mounted it.	7 And they led the colt to Jesus. And they placed their garments on it; and he sat upon it.
8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others greenery which they had cut in the fields.	8 Then many spread their garments along the way; but others cut down leafy branches from trees and scattered them on the way.
9 And those who went in front and those who fol owed were al shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who iscoming in the name of the Lord!	9 And those who went ahead, and those who followed, cried out saying: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who has arrived in the name of the Lord.
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of David our father! Hosanna in the highest heavens!'	10 Blessed is the advent of the kingdom of our father David. Hosanna in the highest!”
11 He entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple; and when he had surveyed it al , as it was late bynow, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.	11 And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple. And having looked around at everything, since it was now the evening hour, he went out to Bethania with the twelve.
12 Next day as they were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry.	12 And the next day, as they were departing from Bethania, he was hungry.
13 Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but whenhe came up to it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.	13 And when he had seen a fig tree with leaves in the distance, he went to it, in case he might find something on it. And when he had gone to it, he found nothing but leaves. For it was not the season for figs.
14 And he addressed the fig tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard himsay this.	14 And in response, he said to it, “From now on and forever, may no one eat fruit from you again!” And his disciples heard this.
15 So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the Temple and began driving out the men selling andbuying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the seats of the dove sel ers.	15 And they went to Jerusalem. And when he had entered into the temple, he began to cast out the sellers and the buyers in the temple. And he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the chairs of the vendors of doves.
16 Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the Temple.	16 And he would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple.
17 And he taught them and said, 'Does not scripture say: My house wil be cal ed a house of prayer for al peoples? But you have turned it into a bandits' den.'	17 And he taught them, saying: “Is it not written: ‘For my house shall be called the house of prayer for all nations?’ But you have made it into a den of robbers.”
18 This came to the ears of the chief priests and the scribes, and they tried to find some way of doingaway with him; they were afraid of him because the people were carried away by his teaching.	18 And when the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, had heard this, they sought a means by which they might destroy him. For they feared him, because the entire multitude was in admiration over his doctrine.
19 And when evening came he went out of the city.	19 And when evening had arrived, he departed from the city.
20 Next morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots.	20 And when they passed by in the morning, they saw that the fig tree had dried up from the roots.
21 Peter remembered. 'Look, Rabbi,' he said to Jesus, 'the fig tree that you cursed has withered away.'	21 And Peter, remembering, said to him, “Master, behold, the fig tree that you cursed has withered.”
22 Jesus answered, 'Have faith in God.	22 And in response, Jesus said to them: “Have the faith of God.
23 In truth I tel you, if anyone says to this mountain, "Be pul ed up and thrown into the sea," with nodoubt in his heart, but believing that what he says wil happen, it will be done for him.	23 Amen I say to you, that whoever will say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and who will not have hesitated in his heart, but will have believed: then whatever he has said be done, it shall be done for him.
24 I tel you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it wil beyours.	24 For this reason, I say to you, all things whatsoever that you ask for when praying: believe that you will receive them, and they will happen for you.
25 And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, soyour Father in heavenmay forgive your failings too.'	25 And when you stand to pray, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your sins.
26	26 But if you will not forgive, neither will your Father, who is in heaven, forgive you your sins.”
27 They came to Jerusalem again, and as Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests and thescribes and the elders came to him,	27 And they went again to Jerusalem. And when he was walking in the temple, the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, and the elders approached him.
28 and they said to him, 'What authority have you for acting like this? Or who gave you authority to actlike this?'	28 And they said to him: “By what authority do you do these things? And who has given you this authority, so that you would do these things?”
29 Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; answer me and I wil tel you my authorityfor acting like this.	29 But in response, Jesus said to them: “I also will ask you one word, and if you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 John's baptism, what was its origin, heavenly or human? Answer me that.'	30 The baptism of John: was it from heaven or from men? Answer me.”
31 And they argued this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he wil say, "Then why did yourefuse to believe him?"	31 But they discussed it among themselves, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’
32 But dare we say human?' -- they had the people to fear, for everyone held that John had been a realprophet.	32 If we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people. For they all hold that John was a true prophet.”
33 So their reply to Jesus was, 'We do not know.' And Jesus said to them, 'Nor will I tell you my authorityfor acting like this.'	33 And answering, they said to Jesus, “We do not know.” And in response, Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
