Matthew 15

1 Then Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came to Jesus and said,	1 Allora se gli accostarono degli Scribi, e de' Farisei di Gerusalemme, e gli dissero:
2 'Why do your disciples break away from the tradition of the elders? They eat without washing theirhands.'	2 Per qual motivo i tuoi discepoli trasgrediscono le tradizioni de' seniori? Imperocché non si lavano le mani, quando mangiano.
3 He answered, 'And why do you break away from the commandment of God for the sake of yourtradition?	3 Ma egli rispose loro: E voi ancora perché trasgredite il cornando di Dio in grazia della vostra tradizione? Imperocché Dio ha detto:
4 For God said, "Honour your father and your mother" and "Anyone who curses his father or mother wilbe put to death."	4 Onora il padre, e la madre, e, chi maledirà il padre, o la madre, sia punito di morte.
5 But you say, "If anyone says to his father or mother: Anything I might have used to help you isdedicated to God,	5 Ma voi altri dite: Chicchessia potrà, dire al padre, o alla madre: Qualunque: offerta, che è fatta da me, gioverà a te:
6 he is rid of his duty to father or mother." In this way you have made God's word ineffective by means ofyour tradition.	6 E non assisterà il padre, o la madre: e avete colla vostra tradizione annichilato il comandamento di Dio.
7 Hypocrites! How rightly Isaiah prophesied about you when he said:	7 Ipocriti, ottimamente profetò di voi, Isaia, dicendo:
8 This people honours me only with lip-service, while their hearts are far from me.	8 Questo popolo m'onora colle labbra: ma il loro cuore è lungi da me.
9 Their reverence of me is worthless; the lessons they teach are nothing but human commandments.'	9 E invano mi onorano insegnando dottrine, e comandamenti di uomini.
10 He called the people to him and said, 'Listen, and understand.	10 E chiamate a se le turbe disse, loro: Udite, e intendete.
11 What goes into the mouth does not make anyone unclean; it is what comes out of the mouth thatmakes someone unclean.'	11 Non è quello, che entra per la bocca, imbratta l'uomo: ma quello, che esce dalla bocca, questo è, che l'uomo rende immondo.
12 Then the disciples came to him and said, 'Do you know that the Pharisees were shocked when theyheard what you said?'	12 Allora accostatisi a lui i discepoli gli dissero: Sai tu, che i Farisei, udito questo discorso, se ne sono scandalezzati?
13 He replied, 'Any plant my heavenly Father has not planted wil be pul ed up by the roots.	13 Ma egli rispose: Qualunque pianta non piantata dal celeste mio Padre sarà sradicata.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind; and if one blind person leads another, both wilfal into a pit.'	14 Non badate a loro: sono ciechi, e guide di ciechi: e se un cieco ne guida un altro, cadono amendue nella fossa.
15 At this, Peter said to him, 'Explain the parable for us.'	15 Pietro allora prese la parola, e disse: Spiegaci questa parabola.
16 Jesus replied, 'Even you -- don't you yet understand?	16 Ma egli disse: Siete tutt'ora anche voi senza intelletto?
17 Can't you see that whatever goes into the mouth passes through the stomach and is discharged intothe sewer?	17 Non comprendete voi, che tutto ciò, che entra per la bocca, passa nel ventre, e di lì nel secesso?
18 But whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and it is this that makes someoneunclean.	18 Ma quel, che esce dalla bocca, viene dal cuore, e questo imbratta l'uomo.
19 For from the heart come evil intentions: murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury, slander.	19 Imperocché dal cuore partono i mali pensieri, gli omicidj, gli adulterj, le fornicazioni, i furti, i falsi testimonj, le maldicenze.
20 These are the things that make a person unclean. But eating with unwashed hands does not makeanyone unclean.'	20 Queste sono le cose, che imbrattano l'uomo; ma il mangiare senza lavarsi le mani non imbratta l'uomo.
21 Jesus left that place and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.	21 E partitosi Gesù da quel luogo si ritirò dalle parti di Tiro, e di Sidone.
22 And suddenly out came a Canaanite woman from that district and started shouting, 'Lord, Son ofDavid, take pity on me. My daughter is tormented by a devil.'	22 Quand' ecco una donna Cananea uscita da que' contorni alzò la voce, dicendogli: Abbi pietà di me, Signore, figliuolo di Davidde: la mia figliuola è malamente tormentata dal demonio.
23 But he said not a word in answer to her. And his disciples went and pleaded with him, saying, 'Giveher what she wants, because she keeps shouting after us.'	23 Ma egli non le fece motto. E accostatisi a lui i discepoli lo pregavano dicendogli: Spediscila: attesoché ci grida dietro.
24 He said in reply, 'I was sent only to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.'	24 Ma egli rispose, e disse: Non sono stato mandato se non alle pecorelle perdute della casa d'Israele.
25 But the woman had come up and was bowing low before him. 'Lord,' she said, 'help me.'	25 Ma quella se gli approssimò, e lo adorò dicendo: Aiutami, Signore.
26 He replied, 'It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to little dogs.'	26 Ed egli le rispose: Non è ben fatto di prendere il pane dei figliuoli, e gettarlo ai cani.
27 She retorted, 'Ah yes, Lord; but even little dogs eat the scraps that fal from their masters' table.'	27 Ella però disse: Benissimo, Signore; imperocché anche i cagnolini mangiano le bricciole, che cadono dalla tavola de' loro padroni.
28 Then Jesus answered her, 'Woman, you have great faith. Let your desire be granted.' And from thatmoment her daughter was wel again.	28 Allora Gesù le rispose, e disse: O donna, grande è la tua fede: ti sia fatto come desideri. E da quel punto fu risanata la sua figliuola.
29 Jesus went on from there and reached the shores of the Lake of Galilee, and he went up onto themountain. He took his seat,	29 Ed essendo Gesù partito di là, andò verso il mare di Galilea, e salito sopra un monte stava quivi a sedere.
30 and large crowds came to him bringing the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others;these they put down at his feet, and he cured them.	30 E se gli accostò una gran turba di popolo, che conduceva seco de' muti, de' ciechi, degli zoppi, e stroppiati, e molti altri (malati): e li gettarono a' suoi piedi, e li guarì:
31 The crowds were astonished to see the dumb speaking, the cripples whole again, the lame walkingand the blind with their sight, and they praised the God of Israel.	31 Talmente che le turbe restavano ammirate, vedendo, come i muti parlavano, camminavano gli zoppi, e i ciechi vedevano: e ne davano gloria al Dio d'Israele.
32 But Jesus cal ed his disciples to him and said, 'I feel sorry for al these people; they have been withme for three days now and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them off hungry, or they might col apse onthe way.'	32 Ma Gesù, chiamati a se i suoi discepoli, disse loro: Ho pietà di questo popolo, perché sono già tre giorni, che non si distaccan da me, e non hanno niente da mangiare: e non voglio rimandarli digiuni, perché non isvengano per strada.
33 The disciples said to him, 'Where in a deserted place could we get sufficient bread for such a largecrowd to have enough to eat?'	33 E gli dissero i discepoli: Ha donde caverem noi in un deserto tanto pane da saziare turba sì grande?
34 Jesus said to them, 'How many loaves have you?' They said, 'Seven, and a few smal fish.'	34 E Gesù disse loro: Quanti pani avete voi? Ed essi risposero: Sette, ed alcuni pochi pesciolini.
35 Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground,	35 Ed egli ordinò alla turba, che se desse per terra:
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks he broke them and began handingthem to the disciples, who gave them to the crowds.	36 E presi i sette pani, ed i pesci, e rendute le grazie, gli spezzò, e li diede a' suoi discepoli: e i discepoli li dettero al popolo.
37 They al ate as much as they wanted, and they col ected what was left of the scraps, seven basketsful .	37 E tutti mangiarono, e si saziarono: e raccolsero de' pezzi avanzati sette sporte piene.
38 Now four thousand men had eaten, to say nothing of women and children.	38 Or quelli, che avevano mangiato, erano quattromila persone senza i ragazzi, e le donne.
39 And when he had sent the crowds away he got into the boat and went to the territory of Magadan.	39 E licenziate le turbe, entrò in una barca, e andò nei contorni di Magedan.
