NEW JERUSALEM | NEW AMERICAN BIBLE |

He then showed me the high priest Joshua, standing before the angel of Yahweh, with Satan standingon his right to accuse him. | 1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, while Satan stood at his right hand to accuse him. |
The angel of Yahweh said to Satan, 'May Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! May Yahweh rebuke you, sincehe has made Jerusalem his choice. Is not this man a brand snatched from the fire?' | 2 And the angel of the LORD said to Satan, "May the LORD rebuke you, Satan; may the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this man a brand snatched from the fire?" |
Now Joshua was dressed in dirty clothes as he stood before the angel. | 3 Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clad in filthy garments. |
The latter then spoke as fol ows to those who were standing before him, 'Take off his dirty clothesanddress him in splendid robes | 4 He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy garments, and clothe him in festal garments." |
and put a clean turban on his head.' So they put a clean turban on his head and dressed him in cleanclothes, while the angel of Yahweh stood byand said, 'You see, I have taken your guilt away.' | 5 He also said, "Put a clean miter on his head." And they put a clean miter on his head and clothed him with the garments. Then the angel of the LORD, standing, said, "See, I have taken away your guilt." |
The angel of Yahweh then made this declaration to Joshua, | 6 The angel of the LORD then gave Joshua this assurance: |
'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "If you walk in my ways and keep my ordinances, you shal govern myhouse, you shal watch over my courts, and I wil give you free access among those in attendance here. | 7 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: If you walk in my ways and heed my charge, you shall judge my house and keep my courts, and I will give you access among these standing here. |
'So listen, High Priest Joshua, you and the colleagues over whom you preside -- for they are an omenof things to come -- for now I shal bring in my servant the Branch, and I shal remove this country's guilt in asingle day. | 8 Listen, O Joshua, high priest! You and your associates who sit before you are men of good omen. Yes, I will bring my servant the Shoot. |
For this is the stone which I have put before Joshua, a stone on which are seven eyes; and I myselfshall cut the inscription on it -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares." | 9 Look at the stone that I have placed before Joshua, one stone with seven facets. I will engrave its inscription, says the LORD of hosts, and I will take away the guilt of the land in one day. |
On that day -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- invite each other to come under your vine and your figtree." ' | 10 On that day, says the LORD of hosts, you will invite one another under your vines and fig trees." |
