Zechariah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 He then showed me the high priest Joshua, standing before the angel of Yahweh, with Satan standingon his right to accuse him.	1 And the Lord shewed me Jesus the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord: and Satan stood on his right hand to be his adversary.
2 The angel of Yahweh said to Satan, 'May Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! May Yahweh rebuke you, sincehe has made Jerusalem his choice. Is not this man a brand snatched from the fire?'	2 And the Lord said to Satan: The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan: and the Lord that chose Jerusalem rebuke thee: Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was dressed in dirty clothes as he stood before the angel.	3 And Jesus was clothed with filthy garments: and he stood before the face of the angel.
4 The latter then spoke as fol ows to those who were standing before him, 'Take off his dirty clothesanddress him in splendid robes	4 Who answered, and said to them that stood before him, saying: Take away the filthy garments from him. And he said to him: Behold I have taken away thy iniquity, and have clothed thee with change of garments.
5 and put a clean turban on his head.' So they put a clean turban on his head and dressed him in cleanclothes, while the angel of Yahweh stood byand said, 'You see, I have taken your guilt away.'	5 And he said: Put a clean mitre upon his head: and they put a clean mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments, and the angel of the Lord stood.
6 The angel of Yahweh then made this declaration to Joshua,	6 And the angel of the Lord protested to Jesus, saying:
7 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "If you walk in my ways and keep my ordinances, you shal govern myhouse, you shal watch over my courts, and I wil give you free access among those in attendance here.	7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: If thou wilt walk in my ways, and Beep my charge, thou also shalt judge my house, and shalt keep my courts, and I will give thee some of them that are now present here to walk with thee.
8 'So listen, High Priest Joshua, you and the colleagues over whom you preside -- for they are an omenof things to come -- for now I shal bring in my servant the Branch, and I shal remove this country's guilt in asingle day.	8 Hear, O Jesus thou high priest, then and thy friends that dwell before thee, for they are portending men: for behold I WILL BRING MY SERVANT THE ORIENT.
9 For this is the stone which I have put before Joshua, a stone on which are seven eyes; and I myselfshall cut the inscription on it -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares."	9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Jesus: upon one stone there are seven eyes: behold I will grave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will take away the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 On that day -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- invite each other to come under your vine and your figtree." '	10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, every man shell call his friend under the vine and under the fig tree.
