2 Yahweh is a jealous and vengeful God, Yahweh takes vengeance, he is rich in wrath; Yahweh takesvengeance on his foes, he stores up fury for his enemies.	2 E' un Dio geloso e vendicatore il Signore, il Signore fa vendetta e si arma di sdegno, il Signore si vendica dei suoi avversari, ed è pieno d'ira contro i suoi nemici.
3 Yahweh is slow to anger but great in power, Yahweh never lets evil go unpunished. In storm andwhirlwind he takes his way, the clouds are the dust stirred up by his feet.	3 Il Signore è paziente e grande in possanza, e non lascerà alcuno impunito. Il Signore cammina fra le tempeste, fra i turbini, e le nubi son la polvere dei suoi piedi.
4 He rebukes the sea, dries it up, and makes all the rivers run dry. . . . Bashan and Carmel wither, thegreenery of the Lebanon withers too.	4 Egli sgrida il mare e lo fa seccare, muta tutti i fiumi in deserti; languono il Basan e il Carmelo, e il fiore del Libano è appassito.
5 The mountains tremble before him, the hills reel; the earth col apses before him, the world and al wholive in it.	5 Davanti a lui tremano le montagne, e le colline son desolato, davanti a lui trema la terra, il mondo e tutti quelli che vi abitano.
6 His fury -- who can withstand it? Who can endure his burning wrath? His anger pours out like fire andthe rocks break apart before him.	6 Chi potrà sta re davanti al suo sdegno? E chi potrà resistere all'ira sua furibonda? Il suo sdegno si sparge come il fuoco, e le pietre si fondono davanti a lui.
7 Yahweh is better than a fortress in time of distress; he recognises those who trust in him	7 Il Signore è buono, e conforta nel giorno della tribolazione, e conosce quelli che sperano in lui.
8 even when the flood rushes on; he wil make an end once and for al of those who defy him, and pursuehis foes into darkness.	8 Egli con impetuosa inondazione distruggerà interamente il luogo di lei, e le tenebre perseguiteranno i suoi nemici.
9 What are your thoughts about Yahweh? He it is who makes a final end: his adversaries wil not rise upa second time;	9 Che pensate contro il Signore? Egli stesso compirà la rovina, la tribolazione non sorgerà due volte.
10 like a thicket of tangled brambles, like dry straw, they wil be burnt up completely. To Assyria	10 Infatti come le spine fra loro intrecciate, cosi il conviio di quelli che bevono insieme sarà consumato come aridissima paglia.
11 From you has emerged someone plotting evil against Yahweh, one of Belial's counsel ors. To Judah	11 Da te uscirà colui che fa cattivi disegni contro il Signore, che nel suo spirito medita la prevaricazione.
12 Yahweh says this: Unopposed and many though they be, they wil be cut down and pass away.Though I have made you suffer, I shal make you suffer no more,	12 Ecco quanto dice il Signore: Anche se sono fortissimi e in maggior numero saran falciati e spariranno: io t'ho afflitto, e non ti affliggerò più.
13 for now I shal break his yoke which presses hard on you and snap your chains. To the king ofNineveh	13 Ed ora io spezzerò la sua verga, (l'allontanerò) dal tuo dorso, io spezzerò le tue catene.
14 As for you, this is Yahweh's decree: You wil have no heirs to your name, from the temple of your godsI shal remove carved image and cast image, and I shal devastate your tomb, for you are accursed!	14 Ed il Signore darà questi ordini a tuo riguardo: non vi sarà più seme del tuo nome, sterminerò dalla casa del tuo Dio le statue e gl'idoli di getto. Ne farò il tuo sepolcro, perchè sei disonorato.
	15 Ecco sopra i monti i piedi del messaggero della buona novella, di colui che annunzia la pace. Celebra le tue feste, o Giuda, sciogli i tuoi voti: perchè non avverrà più che passi per te Belial: è perito del tutto.
