1 Prophecy about Nineveh. Book of the vision of Nahum of Elkosh.	1 משא נינוה ספר חזון נחום האלקשי
2 Yahweh is a jealous and vengeful God, Yahweh takes vengeance, he is rich in wrath; Yahweh takesvengeance on his foes, he stores up fury for his enemies.	2 אל קנוא ונקם יהוה נקם יהוה ובעל חמה נקם יהוה לצריו ונוטר הוא לאיביו
3 Yahweh is slow to anger but great in power, Yahweh never lets evil go unpunished. In storm andwhirlwind he takes his way, the clouds are the dust stirred up by his feet.	3 יהוה ארך אפים וגדול כח ונקה לא ינקה יהוה בסופה ובשערה דרכו וענן אבק רגליו
4 He rebukes the sea, dries it up, and makes all the rivers run dry. . . . Bashan and Carmel wither, thegreenery of the Lebanon withers too.	4 גוער בים ויבשהו וכל הנהרות החריב אמלל בשן וכרמל ופרח לבנון אמלל
5 The mountains tremble before him, the hills reel; the earth col apses before him, the world and al wholive in it.	5 הרים רעשו ממנו והגבעות התמגגו ותשא הארץ מפניו ותבל וכל ישבי בה
6 His fury -- who can withstand it? Who can endure his burning wrath? His anger pours out like fire andthe rocks break apart before him.	6 לפני זעמו מי יעמוד ומי יקום בחרון אפו חמתו נתכה כאש והצרים נתצו ממנו
7 Yahweh is better than a fortress in time of distress; he recognises those who trust in him	7 טוב יהוה למעוז ביום צרה וידע חסי בו
8 even when the flood rushes on; he wil make an end once and for al of those who defy him, and pursuehis foes into darkness.	8 ובשטף עבר כלה יעשה מקומה ואיביו ירדף חשך
9 What are your thoughts about Yahweh? He it is who makes a final end: his adversaries wil not rise upa second time;	9 מה תחשבון אל יהוה כלה הוא עשה לא תקום פעמים צרה
10 like a thicket of tangled brambles, like dry straw, they wil be burnt up completely. To Assyria	10 כי עד סירים סבכים וכסבאם סבואים אכלו כקש יבש מלא
11 From you has emerged someone plotting evil against Yahweh, one of Belial's counsel ors. To Judah	11 ממך יצא חשב על יהוה רעה יעץ בליעל
12 Yahweh says this: Unopposed and many though they be, they wil be cut down and pass away.Though I have made you suffer, I shal make you suffer no more,	12 כה אמר יהוה אם שלמים וכן רבים וכן נגזו ועבר וענתך לא אענך עוד
13 for now I shal break his yoke which presses hard on you and snap your chains. To the king ofNineveh	13 ועתה אשבר מטהו מעליך ומוסרתיך אנתק
14 As for you, this is Yahweh's decree: You wil have no heirs to your name, from the temple of your godsI shal remove carved image and cast image, and I shal devastate your tomb, for you are accursed!	14 וצוה עליך יהוה לא יזרע משמך עוד מבית אלהיך אכרית פסל ומסכה אשים קברך כי קלות
	15 הנה על ההרים רגלי מבשר משמיע שלום חגי יהודה חגיך שלמי נדריך כי לא יוסיף עוד לעבור בך בליעל כלה נכרת
