2 Yahweh is a jealous and vengeful God, Yahweh takes vengeance, he is rich in wrath; Yahweh takesvengeance on his foes, he stores up fury for his enemies.	2 (Alef) Un Dio geloso e vendicatore è il Signore, vendicatore è il Signore, pieno di collera. Il Signore si vendica degli avversari e serba rancore verso i nemici.
3 Yahweh is slow to anger but great in power, Yahweh never lets evil go unpunished. In storm andwhirlwind he takes his way, the clouds are the dust stirred up by his feet.	3 Il Signore è lento all’ira, ma grande nella potenza e nulla lascia impunito. (Bet) Nell’uragano e nella tempesta è il suo cammino e le nubi sono la polvere dei suoi passi.
4 He rebukes the sea, dries it up, and makes all the rivers run dry. . . . Bashan and Carmel wither, thegreenery of the Lebanon withers too.	4 (Ghimel) Minaccia il mare e lo rende asciutto, prosciuga tutti i fiumi. (Dalet) Basan e il Carmelo inaridiscono, anche il fiore del Libano languisce.
5 The mountains tremble before him, the hills reel; the earth col apses before him, the world and al wholive in it.	5 Davanti a lui tremano i monti, ondeggiano i colli. (Vau) Si leva la terra davanti a lui, il mondo e tutti i suoi abitanti.
6 His fury -- who can withstand it? Who can endure his burning wrath? His anger pours out like fire andthe rocks break apart before him.	6 (Zain) Davanti al suo sdegno chi può resistere e affrontare il furore della sua ira? (Het) La sua collera si spande come il fuoco e alla sua presenza le rocce si spezzano.
7 Yahweh is better than a fortress in time of distress; he recognises those who trust in him	7 (Tet) Buono è il Signore, un asilo sicuro nel giorno dell’angoscia. (Iod) Si prende cura di chi si rifugia in lui
8 even when the flood rushes on; he wil make an end once and for al of those who defy him, and pursuehis foes into darkness.	8 anche quando l’inondazione avanza. (Caf) Distrugge chi insorge contro di lui, i suoi nemici insegue nelle tenebre.
9 What are your thoughts about Yahweh? He it is who makes a final end: his adversaries wil not rise upa second time;	9 Che cosa tramate voi contro il Signore? Egli distrugge: non sopravverrà due volte la sciagura,
10 like a thicket of tangled brambles, like dry straw, they wil be burnt up completely. To Assyria	10 poiché, intrecciati come rovi, avvinazzati come ubriachi, saranno consunti come paglia secca.
11 From you has emerged someone plotting evil against Yahweh, one of Belial's counsel ors. To Judah	11 Da te è uscito colui che trama il male contro il Signore.
12 Yahweh says this: Unopposed and many though they be, they wil be cut down and pass away.Though I have made you suffer, I shal make you suffer no more,	12 Così dice il Signore: «Siano pure potenti, siano pure numerosi, saranno falciati e spariranno. Ma se ti ho afflitto, non ti affliggerò più.
13 for now I shal break his yoke which presses hard on you and snap your chains. To the king ofNineveh	13 Ora, infrangerò il suo giogo che ti opprime, spezzerò le tue catene».
14 As for you, this is Yahweh's decree: You wil have no heirs to your name, from the temple of your godsI shal remove carved image and cast image, and I shal devastate your tomb, for you are accursed!	14 Contro di te decreta il Signore: «Nessuna discendenza porterà il tuo nome, dal tempio dei tuoi dèi farò sparire le statue scolpite e quelle fuse, preparerò il tuo sepolcro, poiché non vali nulla».
