1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse et à Éléazar, fils d’Aaron le prêtre:
2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'	2 “Recensez toute la communauté des Israélites, depuis l’âge de 20 ans et au-dessus, faites le compte par famille de ceux qui sont aptes à la guerre.”
3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted	3 Moïse et Éléazar le prêtre leur parlèrent donc dans les Steppes-de-Moab, près du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho:

7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.	7 Ce sont les clans des Rubénites, on en recensa 43 730.
8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.	8 Fils de Palou: Éliab,
9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.	9 les fils d’Éliab: Némuel, Datan et Abiram. 10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.	10 La terre ouvrit alors la bouche et les engloutit avec Coré. Leur bande disparut lorsque le feu consuma les 250 révoltés. Ce fut un exemple,

46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.	46 La fille d’Asher se nommait Sara.

53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.	53 “Le pays leur sera partagé en héritage selon le nombre des recensés.
54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.	54 Tu donneras un grand domaine à ceux qui sont nombreux et un petit domaine à ceux qui sont peu nombreux. Chacun aura son héritage selon le nombre des recensés.
55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;	55 On devra partager au sort le pays et l’héritage se répartira selon le nom des tribus d’origine.
56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'	56 C’est le sort qui départagera l’héritage, pour ceux qui sont nombreux et pour ceux qui le sont moins.”
57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.	57 Voici les Lévites recensés selon leurs clans: Guerchon et le clan Guerchonite, Kahat et le clan Kahatite, Mérari et le clan Mérarite.
58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.	58 Voici les clans de Lévi: le clan Libnite, le clan Hébronite, le clan Mahlite, le clan Mouchite, le clan Coréite. Kahat engendra Amram.
59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.	59 La femme d’Amram se nommait Yokébed, fille de Lévi; elle était née en Égypte. Elle donna à Amram: Aaron, Moïse et leur sœur Miryam.
60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.	60 Aaron engendra Nadab et Abihou, Éléazar et Itamar.
61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.	61 Nadab et Abihou moururent pour avoir porté devant Yahvé un feu profane.
62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.	62 On recensa au total 23 000 mâles d’un mois et au-dessus. On ne les avait pas recensés avec les autres Israélites, car ils n’avaient pas à partager l’héritage avec eux.
63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.	63 Ce sont donc là tous les hommes recensés par Moïse et Éléazar le prêtre, lors du recensement des Israélites dans les Steppes-de-Moab, près du Jourdain, à la hauteur de Jéricho.
64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;	64 Aucun d’eux n’avait été recensé par Moïse et Aaron le prêtre lorsqu’ils avaient dénombré les Israélites dans le désert du Sinaï;
65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.	65 Yahvé, en effet, avait dit à ces derniers qu’ils allaient tous mourir dans le désert, et qu’il n’en resterait pas un seul, excepté Caleb fils de Yéfouné, et Josué fils de Noun.
