Hosea 8

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle, disaster is swooping on Yahweh's home! Because they haveviolated my covenant and been unfaithful to my Law,	1 Alla tua bocca la tromba come una sentinella sopra la casa del Signore, perché han trasgredito la mia alleanza e alla mia legge si son ribellati!
2 in vain wil they cry, 'My God!' In vain, 'We, Israel, know you!'	2 Essi gridino pure: "Dio d'Israele, noi ti conosciamo!";
3 Israel has rejected the good, the enemy will pursue them.	3 Israele ha rigettato il bene, il nemico lo inseguirà.
4 They have set up kings, but without my consent, and appointed princes, but without my knowledge.With their silver and gold, they have made themselves idols, but only to be destroyed.	4 Hanno creato dei re, ma senza il mio consenso, han creato dei capi, ma a mia insaputa; han fabbricato con l'argento e con l'oro i loro idoli per la loro rovina.
5 I spurn your calf, Samaria! My anger blazes against them! How long wil it be before they recover theirinnocence?	5 Sì, è ributtante il tuo vitello, Samaria! La mia ira s'infiamma contro di esso; fino a quando rimarranno immondi
6 For it is the product of Israel- a craftsman made the thing, it is no god at al ! The calf of Samaria wil bebroken to pieces!	6 i figli d'Israele? Esso è opera di un artigiano, non è un Dio! Sì, in fiamme andrà il vitello di Samaria.
7 Since they sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind; stalk without ear, it wil never yield flour- or if itdoes, foreigners will swallow it.	7 Seminano vento, mietono tempesta: il frumento è senza spiga, non farà farina; e se la farà, la divoreranno gli stranieri.
8 Israel has himself been swal owed; now they are lost among the nations like something no one wants,	8 Israele è divorato; ormai sono tra le nazioni come un oggetto che non piace più;
9 for having made approaches to Assyria- like a wild donkey, al alone. Ephraim has rented lovers	9 perché essi son saliti verso Assur, asino solitario e ritirato, Efraim si è comprato degli amanti.
10 and because he has rented them from the nations I am now going to round them up; soon they wilfeel the weight of the king of princes!	10 Anche se li comprano tra le nazioni, ecco io li disperderò ed essi cesseranno ben presto di consacrare re e capi.
11 Ephraim keeps building altars for his sins, these very altars are themselves a sin.	11 Efraim ha moltiplicato gli altari, ma gli altari gli sono serviti per peccare.

13 They offer sacrifices to me and eat the meat, they do not win Yahweh's favour. On the contrary, he wilremember their guilt and punish their sins; they wil have to go back to Egypt.	13 Amano i sacrifici: li offrano pure! La loro carne, la mangino pure! Il Signore non li gradisce. Ormai sta per ricordarsi delle loro colpe e per punire i loro peccati: essi ritorneranno in Egitto.
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker and has built palaces, while Judah keeps on building fortified towns; butI shal send fire down on his cities to devour their citadels.	14 Israele ha dimenticato il suo Creatore e ha costruito i suoi palazzi; Giuda ha moltiplicato le sue fortezze. Io manderò il fuoco sulle sue città che ne distruggerà i palazzi!
