Hosea 8

1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle, disaster is swooping on Yahweh's home! Because they haveviolated my covenant and been unfaithful to my Law,	1 - Imbocca la tromba: come aquila sopra la casa del Signore! Dopo che hanno trasgredito il mio patto e prevaricarono dalla mia legge,
2 in vain wil they cry, 'My God!' In vain, 'We, Israel, know you!'	2 grideranno verso di me invocandomi: - Dio mio, noi ti riconosciamo, siamo Israele! -
3 Israel has rejected the good, the enemy will pursue them.	3 Israele ha rigettato il bene, il nemico lo perseguiterà.
4 They have set up kings, but without my consent, and appointed princes, but without my knowledge.With their silver and gold, they have made themselves idols, but only to be destroyed.	4 Regnarono da sè e non per me; si costituirono principi, ma io non li ho riconosciuti; il loro oro e il loro argento l'adoperarono a farsi degli idoli a fine di rovinarsi.
5 I spurn your calf, Samaria! My anger blazes against them! How long wil it be before they recover theirinnocence?	5 Reietto è il tuo vitello, Samaria; il mio sdegno freme contro di loro: quanto ancora resteranno senza che possano farne purificazione!
6 For it is the product of Israel- a craftsman made the thing, it is no god at al ! The calf of Samaria wil bebroken to pieces!	6 Perchè anch'esso è opera d'Israele: un artefice l'ha fatto, ma Dio esso non è; anzi tele di ragno sarà per essere il vitello di Samaria!
7 Since they sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind; stalk without ear, it wil never yield flour- or if itdoes, foreigners will swallow it.	7 Semineranno vento, raccoglieranno tempesta; non un gambo rigoglioso; un germoglio che non granirà, e se granirà se lo inghiotteranno gli stranieri.
8 Israel has himself been swal owed; now they are lost among the nations like something no one wants,	8 Israele è stato inghiottito; ora è diventato come un vaso immondo tra le nazioni!
9 for having made approaches to Assyria- like a wild donkey, al alone. Ephraim has rented lovers	9 Perchè essi stessi salirono ad Assur. L'onagro sta solitario: Efraim andò a offrire presenti agli amanti.
10 and because he has rented them from the nations I am now going to round them up; soon they wilfeel the weight of the king of princes!	10 E giacchè hanno anche pagato le nazioni per la loro protezione, ora io li raccoglierò e li sgraverò per un poco dal peso di un re e di principi.
11 Ephraim keeps building altars for his sins, these very altars are themselves a sin.	11 Giacchè Efraim moltiplicò gli altari, occasioni di peccato, gli altari diventarono per lui causa di peccato.
12 However much of my Law I write for him, Ephraim regards it as alien to him.	12 Gli scriverò io bene le molteplici leggi mie, saranno tenute in conto di straniere.
13 They offer sacrifices to me and eat the meat, they do not win Yahweh's favour. On the contrary, he wilremember their guilt and punish their sins; they wil have to go back to Egypt.	13 Offriranno oblazioni, immoleranno carni e mangeranno, ma il Signore non le accetterà; ormai ricorderà la loro iniquità e farà espiazione dei loro peccati; essi torneranno in Egitto.
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker and has built palaces, while Judah keeps on building fortified towns; butI shal send fire down on his cities to devour their citadels.	14 Israele si è scordato di colui che l'ha formato e costrusse edifici; e Giuda moltiplicò le città fortificate, ma io metterò alle sue città il fuoco e divorerà i suoi palazzi.
