Hosea 8

NEW JERUSALEM	LXX
1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle, disaster is swooping on Yahweh's home! Because they haveviolated my covenant and been unfaithful to my Law,	1 εις κολπον αυτων ως γη ως αετος επ' οικον κυριου ανθ' ων παρεβησαν την διαθηκην μου και κατα του νομου μου ησεβησαν
2 in vain wil they cry, 'My God!' In vain, 'We, Israel, know you!'	2 εμε κεκραξονται ο θεος εγνωκαμεν σε
3 Israel has rejected the good, the enemy will pursue them.	3 οτι ισραηλ απεστρεψατο αγαθα εχθρον κατεδιωξαν
4 They have set up kings, but without my consent, and appointed princes, but without my knowledge.With their silver and gold, they have made themselves idols, but only to be destroyed.	4 εαυτοις εβασιλευσαν και ου δι' εμου ηρξαν και ουκ εγνωρισαν μοι το αργυριον αυτων και το χρυσιον αυτων εποιησαν εαυτοις ειδωλα οπως εξολεθρευθωσιν
5 I spurn your calf, Samaria! My anger blazes against them! How long wil it be before they recover theirinnocence?	5 αποτριψαι τον μοσχον σου σαμαρεια παρωξυνθη ο θυμος μου επ' αυτους εως τινος ου μη δυνωνται καθαρισθηναι
6 For it is the product of Israel- a craftsman made the thing, it is no god at al ! The calf of Samaria wil bebroken to pieces!	6 εν τω ισραηλ και αυτο τεκτων εποιησεν και ου θεος εστιν διοτι πλανων ην ο μοσχος σου σαμαρεια
7 Since they sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind; stalk without ear, it wil never yield flour- or if itdoes, foreigners will swallow it.	7 οτι ανεμοφθορα εσπειραν και η καταστροφη αυτων εκδεξεται αυτα δραγμα ουκ εχον ισχυν του ποιησαι αλευρον εαν δε και ποιηση αλλοτριοι καταφαγονται αυτο
8 Israel has himself been swal owed; now they are lost among the nations like something no one wants,	8 κατεποθη ισραηλ νυν εγενετο εν τοις εθνεσιν ως σκευος αχρηστον
9 for having made approaches to Assyria- like a wild donkey, al alone. Ephraim has rented lovers	9 οτι αυτοι ανεβησαν εις ασσυριους ανεθαλεν καθ' εαυτον εφραιμ δωρα ηγαπησαν
10 and because he has rented them from the nations I am now going to round them up; soon they wilfeel the weight of the king of princes!	10 δια τουτο παραδοθησονται εν τοις εθνεσιν νυν εισδεξομαι αυτους και κοπασουσιν μικρον του χριειν βασιλεα και αρχοντας
11 Ephraim keeps building altars for his sins, these very altars are themselves a sin.	11 οτι επληθυνεν εφραιμ θυσιαστηρια εις αμαρτιας εγενοντο αυτω θυσιαστηρια ηγαπημενα
12 However much of my Law I write for him, Ephraim regards it as alien to him.	12 καταγραψω αυτω πληθος και τα νομιμα αυτου εις αλλοτρια ελογισθησαν θυσιαστηρια τα ηγαπημενα
13 They offer sacrifices to me and eat the meat, they do not win Yahweh's favour. On the contrary, he wilremember their guilt and punish their sins; they wil have to go back to Egypt.	13 διοτι εαν θυσωσιν θυσιαν και φαγωσιν κρεα κυριος ου προσδεξεται αυτα νυν μνησθησεται τας αδικιας αυτων και εκδικησει τας αμαρτιας αυτων αυτοι εις αιγυπτον απεστρεψαν και εν ασσυριοις ακαθαρτα φαγονται
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker and has built palaces, while Judah keeps on building fortified towns; butI shal send fire down on his cities to devour their citadels.	14 και επελαθετο ισραηλ του ποιησαντος αυτον και ωκοδομησαν τεμενη και ιουδας επληθυνεν πολεις τετειχισμενας και εξαποστελω πυρ εις τας πολεις αυτου και καταφαγεται τα θεμελια αυτων
