Hosea 8

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle, disaster is swooping on Yahweh's home! Because they haveviolated my covenant and been unfaithful to my Law,	1 Embouche la trompette! Comme un aigle, le malheur fond sur la maison de Yahvé. Car ils onttransgressé mon alliance et ont été infidèles à ma Loi.
2 in vain wil they cry, 'My God!' In vain, 'We, Israel, know you!'	2 Ils ont beau me crier: "Mon Dieu, nous te connaissons, nous Israël."
3 Israel has rejected the good, the enemy will pursue them.	3 Israël a rejeté le bien, l'ennemi le poursuivra.
4 They have set up kings, but without my consent, and appointed princes, but without my knowledge.With their silver and gold, they have made themselves idols, but only to be destroyed.	4 Ils ont fait des rois, mais sans mon aveu, ils ont fait des chefs, mais à mon insu. De leur argent et deleur or ils se sont fait des idoles, afin qu'elles soient supprimées.
5 I spurn your calf, Samaria! My anger blazes against them! How long wil it be before they recover theirinnocence?	5 Ton veau, Samarie, je le repousse! - ma colère s'est enflammée contre eux: Jusques à quand nepourront-ils recouvrer l'innocence?
6 For it is the product of Israel- a craftsman made the thing, it is no god at al ! The calf of Samaria wil bebroken to pieces!	6 Car il vient d'Israël, c'est un artisan qui l'a fabriqué, lui, il n'est pas Dieu, lui. Oui, le veau de Samarietombera en miettes.
7 Since they sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind; stalk without ear, it wil never yield flour- or if itdoes, foreigners will swallow it.	7 Puisqu'ils sèment le vent, ils moissonneront la tempête: tige qui n'a pas d'épi, qui ne donne pas defarine; et s'il en donne, des étrangers l'engloutiront.
8 Israel has himself been swal owed; now they are lost among the nations like something no one wants,	8 Israël est englouti. Maintenant ils sont parmi les nations comme un objet dont personne ne veut;
9 for having made approaches to Assyria- like a wild donkey, al alone. Ephraim has rented lovers	9 car ils sont montés vers Assur, onagre qui vit à l'écart; Ephraïm s'est acheté des amants.
10 and because he has rented them from the nations I am now going to round them up; soon they wilfeel the weight of the king of princes!	10 Qu'il s'en achète parmi les nations, maintenant je vais les rassembler et ils souffriront bientôt sous lefardeau du roi des princes.

12 However much of my Law I write for him, Ephraim regards it as alien to him.	12 Que pour lui j'écrive les mille préceptes de ma loi, on les tient pour une chose étrangère.
13 They offer sacrifices to me and eat the meat, they do not win Yahweh's favour. On the contrary, he wilremember their guilt and punish their sins; they wil have to go back to Egypt.	13 Les sacrifices qu'ils m'offrent, ils les sacrifient, ils en mangent la viande, mais Yahvé ne les agréepas. Maintenant, il va se souvenir de leur faute et châtier leurs péchés: ils retourneront, eux, en Egypte.
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker and has built palaces, while Judah keeps on building fortified towns; butI shal send fire down on his cities to devour their citadels.	14 Israël a oublié son auteur et il a bâti des palais; Juda a multiplié les villes fortes. Mais j'enverrai le feudans ses villes, et il en dévorera les citadelles.
