Daniel 8

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.	1 No terceiro ano do reinado do rei Baltasar, tive uma visão, eu, Daniel, depois da que tinha tido anteriormente.
2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.	2 Nesta visão que tive, encontrava-me na fortaleza de Susa, na província de Elam ; contemplando a visão, eu estava à porta de Ulai.
3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.	3 Levantei os meus olhos para olhar, e eis que vi, em pé diante da ribeira, um carneiro, que tinha duas hastes elevadas; uma era mais alta do que a outra, mas cresceu depois dela.
4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.	4 Vi que o carneiro dava marradas contra o ocidente, contra o aquilão e contra o meio-dia e nenhuma besta lhe podia resistir, ninguém podia livrar-se do seu poder; fazia quanto queria e tornava-se poderoso.
5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.	5 Estava eu considerando isto e eis que um bode vinha do ocidente sobre a face de toda a terra, e (tão rapidamente que) não tocava na terra; este bode tinha uma grande haste entre os seus olhos.
6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.	6 Dirigiu-se contra aquele carneiro que tinha hastes, o qual eu tinha visto era pé. diante da ribeira, e correu para ele com todo o ímpeto da sua força.
7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.	7 Vi-o chegar perto do carneiro: atacou-o com fúria, feriu-o e quebrou-lhe as duas hastes, sem que o carneiro lhe pudesse resistir; tendo-o lançado por terra, pisou-o aos pés, e não houve quem pudesse livrar o carneiro do seu poder.
8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.	8 Ora o bode tornou-se extraordinariamente grande; mas, quando se fez forte, quebrou-se o sua grande haste, e formaram-se em lugar dela quatro hastes para os quatro ventos do céu.
9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.	9 Porém, duma destas saiu uma haste pequena, que se tornou grande para o meio-dia, para o oriente e para a terra esplêndida (de Israel).
10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.	10 Elevou-se até ao exército do céu e deitou abaixo legiões e estrelas, e pisou-as aos pés.
11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,	11 Elevou-se até contra o príncipe do exército (do céu), tirou-lhe o sacrifício perpétuo e destruiu o lugar do seu santuário.
12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.	12 Foi-lhe dado poder contra o sacrifício perpétuo, por causa dos pecados (do povo); lançou a terra a verdade e teve feliz sucesso nos seus empreendimentos.
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'	13 Então ouvi um santo falar, e um outro santo perguntar ao que falava: Até quando durará (o que) a visão (anuncia) quanto ao sacrifício perpétuo e ao pecado (causa) da desolação que foi feita? Até quando serão calcados aos pés o santuário e o exército?
14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'	14 Ele respondeu-lhe: Até duas mil e trezentas tardes e manhãs; depois disso, o santuário será restabelecido.
15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.	15 Ora, enquanto eu Daniel, tinha esta visão e procurava a sua inteligência, apresentou-se diante de mim um ser com figura de homem.
16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'	16 E ouvi uma voz de homem no meio de Ulai, a qual gritou: Gabriel, explica-lhe esta visão.
17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'	17 Ele velo até junto do lugar onde eu estava; quando se aproximou, cai espavorido com o rosto por terra, e ele disse-me: Entende, filho de homem, que esta visão se cumprirá no tempo do fim.
18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.	18 Enquanto me estava falando, desfaleci com o rosto por terra; ele, porém, tocou-me, fez-me pôr em pé.
19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.	19 Depois disse-me: Mostrar-te-ei o que há-de suceder no fim da cólera, porque o tempo tem o seu fim.
20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.	20 O carneiro que viste, que tinha duas hastes, significa os reis dos Medos e dos Persas.
21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.	21 O bode é o rei dos Gregos; a grande haste, que tinha entre os seus dois olhos, é o primeiro rei.
22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.	22 Quanto às quatro hastes, que, depois de quebrada aquela primeira, se levantaram em seu lugar, são as quatro realezas que se levantarão da sua nação, mas sem terem a sua força.
23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.	23 Depois do seu reinado, quando chegarem ao cúmulo as suas iniquidades, levantar-se-á um rei, de rosto duro, e compreendedor de enigmas;
24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.	24 o seu poder crescerá, mas não pelas próprias forças; fará devastações incríveis; tudo lhe correrá bem; matará os poderosos e o povo dos santos.
25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.	25 Pela sua habilidade, terão bom êxito os dolos que urdir; (com isto) tornar-se-á arrogante o seu coração, e em plena paz, matará muitíssimos; levantar-se-á contra (Deus) o príncipe dos príncipes, porém será aniquilado sem intervir mão de homem.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'	26 Aquela visão da tarde e da manhã, que te foi representada, é verdadeira. Porém guarda segredo sobre a visão, porque ela não sucederá senão depois de muitos dias.
27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.	27 Então eu, Daniel, perdi as forças e fiquei doente alguns dias. Depois levantei-me para me ocupar dos negócios do rei. Estava pasmado da visão, sem haver ninguém que a pudesse interpretar (dum modo claro).
